Yes! This masterpiece has now passed 2,000 views! I know I continue to be thrilled with the combination of Gordon's glorious rendition and your careful pairing of the clips! Once again, many, many thanks!
I have to admit that i dislike the film itself as the storyline was "sanitised",i think this video was nicely done, why was'nt this song included in the soundtrack. The music appears from to time.
@TZEITEL10 Thank you! I'm not sure why this song isn't on the soundtrack, but perhaps it was not written until after the film had been released. I'm really not sure though.
@ClassicDamsel Gordon was such a great vocalist,he had a sad end to his life.He had to battle a demon or two.I saw his daughter Meredith on YT,she was lovely and talented.
Gordon MacRae was a magnificent singer, and has there ever been a lovelier Irish lass than Maureen O' Hara? She was the loveliest rose in all of old Erin!
One could not ask for a more lofty and sublime pairing of song and clip as in 0:55 - 1:17!!! Absolute perfection!!! Thank you, thank you, thank you, again and again!!!
You know, I just listened to this today for the first time, while I was at school and I was at awe with it. So, I got on here to find it and listen to it again, and come to find out you had it the whole time. I feel like such a dummy he he! This is definately a beautiful song!
@bubbbb0 Isn't it magnificent? From the moment I heard it I couldn't help but love it. The emotion he puts into it each word always amazes me. I won't deny that I've gotten a little teary-eyed while listening to it. Anyway, I'm so glad I posted it as I don't think it's anywhere else on here.
@ClassicDamsel Yes and the high notes that he always seems to hit are just mesmerizing! Oh, and don't worry I am with you on that, I too got a bit teary-eyed, and not to mention very goose pimply at the same time! Thank you so much for this!
One does not have to be Irish to feel the longing in this interpretation of this song by Gordon MacRae. The movie clip was a perfect match !! I loved the video,
@romympanlilio Thats a nice sentiment but the story is set in the Welsh valleys,Ireland and Wales are seperated by the Irish Sea.They have seperate languages and cultures.
After you'd kindly recommended this song, I was so glad you'd decided to upload it. It really packs quite an emotional punch, and I knew that probably "there'd be weepin' and wailin'...from some of those women!". However, I was totally unprepared for the 'double whammy' I felt when you combined it with these poignant clips! But just as the waterworks began, I felt such a feeling of joy, at the fact that I sense you're entering a new phase in your video creating. A masterpiece! Standing ovation!!
Just noticed again the way that you 'bookend' the video. In the opening moments they're climbing the hill, and at the closing they're descending. Very nice touch!
The total perfection of this heartrending rendition is perfectly matched by your accompanying clips. Otherwordly! A stunning addition to your wonderful body of work! You've certainly raised the bar! I can't thank you enough!
@azw596 Oh, thank you so much!!! I had a bit of trouble with the movie part being too long and had to get rid of several clips. So, I'm very happy to hear that what I kept was good. You're welcome!
@azw596 Thank you! :) I'm just slightly annoyed that at the very end it repeats the clip of them walking down. It was black when I made the video and Youtube added that repeat. Not sure how to fix that, but oh well.
@sorrowfulflower Thank you!!! It is one of my favorites too. I was quite shocked that it was not on Youtube. Glad you enjoyed it and thanks for the comment!
