Under your constitution the men are not guilty unless proven guilty. If you want to quote the constitution, maybe you should refer to all of it and not just the parts that suit your cause. But, the police were found to have used excessive force. They were tried in court, served some jail time, and lost their jobs. And the black man (Rodney King) was awarded several million dollars in compensation.
The beating had NOTHING to do with his skin color.

fizz: This is a big country and typically one does not need advanced education (university degree) to get a job with the police. Given the size of our police force it's inevitable we have some racists and also some police who use excessive force (IMO the nature of the work causes people to become more brutal over time).
The key is what the nation's official policy is, and do we punish police who break the rules. I think we do...although we can always strive for improvement.
