  • I thought you weren't allowed to photograph/video in the PATH system?

  • Is this a New train?

  • @dancofe21 yes. replaced all the old trains on the path.

  • I really hate the seats in the PA5's.

  • Imagine being on one of these fuckin' pollitically-correct electric rail cars the entire length of the route and having to listen to that disgusting female voice !

  • its the fat version of the R160

  • Yeah, this looks like an R160 just uglier. Eh....

  • Path was very handy for me during my vacation visiting nyc this past summer

  • welcome to the black mesa testing facility

  • Design of this métro is really awful!

  • @MrLppa totally ridiculous comment, this station is huge, clean and easily accessed with the multiple escalators, once the rear entrance is opened it will be the best station in the city

  • @aryan2687 Do you have a brain? I speak about the metro, not the station... Read before you answer, idiot.

  • i went on that train from 33rd Street to Journal Square. It looked cool

  • haven't been on that train in a while....

  • @sirbrickrock they are new.

  • what company made these trains i know it starts with kayak and ends with somethin else

  • are these cars supposed to be imitating the R160 and supposed to be like an R160C?\

they look so similar to the R160.

  • IMO, these trains are 50 gazillion times better than the boring looking R160s. However, they *could* cut down on the blue. I mean damn that much blue almost makes my eyes bleed. Still better than the R160 though.

  • @PanzerVIZeke actually the insides of these cars look more boring then the r160. the r160 looks nice on the inside and maybe a bit bland on the outside. The train thats really boring is the r143. But i like the r160 more then the path trains. the only thing that makes the path look better is the color.

  • It really looks like one of the newer subway cars.

  • Was that an R160?

  • would i be able to use my easy pay express metrocard for path.

  • Its amazing you folks are "excited" I was disgusted when I first came to US to find dated cars (trains)! London has had cars of this nature (modern) for a long time!!! - My american friends you are behind.

  • i love that they look like they've been dipped in bright blue paint [=

  • i just got of their like 2 ours ago

  • heh this is new. never seen this path train before. i would like to ride it some day. looks like the R160 mta train.

  • Nyc has the most complex metro transit system.

842 miles of track crammed into such a small area. Queens, Brookly, Manhattan, Bronx.

Its not about comfort or appearence. Its about efficiency, and no other system can do it better.

  • I agree with you. It's really not about the comfort, it's about getting there..

  • No offense guys

But NYC public transport kind of sucks

    Asian countrys have impressive Transport

There is nothing wrong with the trains in NY/NJ

with the exception of the uncomfortable seats

    Its just nothing Interesting

  • Why is that , the seats are fine , its not like u are going to be there forever. Asia is impressive , but we do things different in the America's , just like Europe , Australia and South America are different , so be quiet !

  • These are really nice!

  • They look more like the new #5 East Boston Tunnel oka MBTA Blue Line 0700-series cars, with blue seats and silver 'n' blue exteriors. But do the PA5 cars have a railfan window in the cab access door? it should

  • I agree completely. These cars look alot like the new Siemens Cars for the Blue Line in Boston. The PA5s dont got a railfan window, but I recall a window at the front of the train next to where the person sits.

  • Depends on how they're configured. It turns out that PA5 are certainly capable of a railfan window or an anti-railfan window, but it depends on the positioning of the metal door at the front of the cabin. (Why this particular door is metal and windowless, I have no clue, unless it has something to do with terrorism and/ or security, and even then the MTA has done just fine with WINDOWED cab doors...)

  • It seems that the cab people are in the habit of closing the door one stop instead of two stops, producing full cabs and no rfw. If they closed two stops, which requires more swinging of the door, it would produce a half cab for the cab person, a railfan window, and a quarter cab for the conductor (which is unneccessary IMHO, given that the conductor likes to stand out in the open.) Fact: All it takes for the PA5 to have a RFW is a simple swing of the front door. So let's put pressure on the PA!

  • rode one today and got two vids. they're as smooth as a jet in the sky (without the turbulence) lol. it's really a mix between the R160B (width, operating console) and an R142A (length) and the PA-4 (bulkhead design).

  • It's too bad they no longer have a window you can look when sitting in the front of the train so you can look out. They're nice lookings cars.

  • The new trains unfortunately are like that where you cant't view out front. The design gives the motorman more space.

  • kinda looks like the R160

  • or R143

  • It's about time they replaced those old cars. I love the new ones ! Funny many people don't realize that the there is more than one subway system that goes into manhattan.

  • How many cars for the new path trains?

  • I like the seat design more better than the new subway cars in nyc.

  • They are going to replace all of them by the year 2011

  • 7 subway cars or 8 sometimes

  • These trains are definitely identical to the R160s of the NYC subways. Their drive systems are definitely Siemens. I know that sound the inverter makes when they accelerate from anywhere.

  • Those new cars are absolutely gorgeous...

I actually heard that the entire fleet will be replaced by 2011...

  • You took a nice video on this brand new Path Train

  • Omg wow you lucky son of a gun wow she look so beautiful wow best path train video ever wow I love it. how did you get in the station cause i've been trying to do that for weeks.

  • its so easy, track 1 and 2 are the tracks for the PATH!

  • o.k how about in manhattan what card do you use and how much is it.

  • The entire path system uses Metrocards and Smartlink Cards, fare is $1.75.

  • O cool o.k

  • Forgot to mention, Pay-per-ride metrocards only, no unlimiteds

  • wow I see now i'm going to try that one day cool thanks

  • path has it's own unlimited cards.

  • Cool I see now. Don't worry I used to take the Path Train to NJ and go the NJ Mall from there.
