  • sois el puto amo

  • cheat

  • fortissimo ahahahahah. Ma come facevi a fare tutto al millimetro? Ci hai giocato per ore e ore e ore?

  • why does mario walk backwards the whole time??

  • Comment removed

  • @redflash50 lol

  • From the time you actually begin to move, and the time you touch the final axe, it's actually only 4 minutes 55 seconds. Take a bow.

  • @MyBadMagnet TAS-timing starts from powering on the game though =).

  • Peach: "Help, I've been kidnapped!"

Mario: "I'll be there in 5 minutes"

  • @q0zi haha

  • This blew my mind...

  • also 3:24 WTF

  • ugh he clipped through so many piranha plants

  • @Digdugdawg42 The game's bad hitbox detection makes it possible to touch parts of enemies without getting killed.

When Mario is in his falling animation, he'll stomp on an enemy no matter where he lands on an enemy. That's how the game works.

  • @Tomtelala lol i thought it was programmed a bit better. well then with this information its time to destroy this game >:D.

  • lol, my childhood in 5 minutes :,)

  • WOW WTF?!

    what does tas mean?

  • @RakuRocRex Stands for Tool Assisted Speedrun. Such runs are recorded with an emulator in slow motion (Frame advance) with the use of save states and rerecording.

The idea is to see how fast the game can be beaten when everything is perfected.

  • MY CHILDHOOD !!!!!!!!!!!

  • hack, he keeps jumping right through enemies

  • @Hopefullyserious Another one who lacks knowledge. A Tool Assisted Speedrun is not hacking the game in anyway, it is the same exact game as on console.

The game has bad hitbox detection, meaning you can touch parts of enemies without getting hurt. That's how the game is supposed to work.

  • you could have finished faster if you didn't go inside that bonus zone to collect coinss

  • @rashbabu It's faster to go through the 1-1 bonus area.

  • Are you a wizard? O_O

  • BS. How is he running into shit and not dying?

  • @LemonCrushMusic Its a hack I;m sure.

  • @Nikolasthe17th You are incorrect. This Tool Assisted Speedrun is using an exact copy of the cartridge game. Nothing changed at all and without the use of cheat codes. Everything done in this movie wuold be possible to do on console with the same input.

  • @Tomtelala I'm gonna go ahead and call bull shit anyhow.

  • @LemonCrushMusic Because of the way the hitboxes work in the game, you are able to touch parts of enemies without dying. That's how the game is made and it works the EXACT same way on console as it does in this TAS.

  • wow that is fast i need 24:17 to beat it and you can do it in 5 simple minutes O_O

  • @sandernintendofan Don't feel bad. This is a TAS, so of course it's going to put most people to shame.

  • An entire video game playthrough in alittle over 5 minutes. nice

  • trampa como atravesas las plantas

  • Comment removed

  • Looks like mario desperate to get some poon from peach. XD

  • it says tool assisted so a bot was helping him notdie/get to the end

  • @RobotsWithShotguns That's NOT what Tool Assisted means. Please visit the website to learn what it is.

  • @Tomtelala Thanks i didnt see that in the first place

  • dude shoulda died at least10 times....

  • I'm here for google

  • Tas never stop

  • Nu-uh. This video isn't right. I don't even have to pause and look closely to see how many times this guy should have died. Going through pirahna plants' mouths, hitting a paratroopa jumping from under it, hitting koopas by landing next to them...I couldn't even finish the video, there's no possible way this isn't hacked in some way. Anyone saying different is blind.

  • @CTylerPrower Anyone saying different might know how the game is designed.

The hitboxes are a lot smaller than the actual sprites.

For the turtle at 3:23, the way the game is programmed is that as long as Mario is in his falling animation, he'll stomp on an enemy no matter where he is hitting them.

Please view the website in the description to learn what a Tool Assisted Speedrun is and how they are made.

  • chuck norris is playing right now

  • AIMBOT !!!!

  • You sir just blew my mind.

  • he never die

  • what happens if you press B???

  • So does this take advantage of save states as well?

  • speeded up

  • fuck cheater!

  • @icq626593885 Learn to know what a Tool Assisted Speedrun is before commentating.

  • @Tomtelala ^^

  • this is fake he touch plant and rockets !!!

  • @browarq124 That's because the hitboxes in the game is bad. This Tool Assisted Speedrun isn't using any cheats or modifications. Please visit the link in the description.

  • hacker

  • this video is speeded up. fail

  • Holy Shit, dude :DD Do u have a real life? xD

  • jejejej utaaa jejeje ke chingon jeje

    hasta de espaldas

  • WHAAAAT!?

  • i like nes i think nes is one of the bes emulators ever .. nice vid .:P

  • damn.

  • อยากเห็นหน้าคนเล่น สุดๆ

  • HACKER!

  • @FiltroG No, the game wasn't hacked in order to make this Tool Assisted Speedrun.

  • @Tomtelala but when he stepped on the monster that appears on the tube, he didn't die!

  • @FiltroG When the flower is going down, the hitboxes disappear completely before the sprite does.

  • @Tomtelala What? (sorry i'm brazilian, can you simplify it for me? what are hitboxes and sprite? (a soda?))

  • @FiltroG A hitbox is the area of an enemy that will damage your character, Mario in this case. When the hitbox of the enemy touches the hitbox of Mario, Mario will be damaged.

A sprite is as specific object in the game. These objects include Mario, the enemies, coins, mushrooms etc.

  • @Tomtelala keep don't understanding, but who am I to discuss a mario game? I have only played this fantastic game once. Don't need to keep explaining ok? (you will lose your time, sorry, kkk)

  • DAT SKILL

  • never die hack

  • @rocky085 The reason why he doesn't die from the enemies is because of the bad hitboxes in the game. TASes aren't allowed to use cheats or to hack the game in order to beat it faster. This run is no exception.

  • Wow, he moonwalked 8-2

  • boing-boing-boing-booooing-boing-boing-booooing-boing!!!!!

  • refake

  • epic cheater...getting annoying through the piranas

  • @sammyd961 That's because of the game's bad hitboxes. This TAS isn't using any cheats and the ROM is the same exact game on the emulator as it is on console, nothing changed.

Please visit the website in the description and learn what a TAS is and how they are made.

  • o mario atravesa os bixos Affs

  • wow. super

  • lo hicieste muy rapido amigo

  • wow D:

  • NOPE, i counted 04:58:54!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • i cant take it

  • madd glitches through the piranhas

  • @randel400 It's not even a glitch. The game is programmed with those hitboxes, it's the way it is supposed to be.

  • @Tomtelala Bullshit. He went right through the one at 2:37. He did the same thing to another one ten seconds later. I know this is tool assisted, but don't tell me those hitboxes were legit.

  • @HammerOfNul The hitboxes are legit. It has been proven that a TAS of this game, a faster version of this run, can be played on console. Search for "Nesbot" on Youtube to find that video.

A ROM is a copy of the original cartridge. A TASvideos you have to use this unchanged copy for your run, which this TAS did as well. And as the input file is provided for the run (Link in the description), it is IMPOSSIBLE to cheat as a TAS only adds input to the pure game.

  • almost sure is fake

  • @394952 You should note that this is a Tool Assisted Speedrun, as already mentioned in the description. Such runs are recording with an emulator in slow motion (Frame advance) with the use of save states and rerecording.

Everything in the game works the same however.

  • Holy Shit o_o

  • I play this game on my nintendo from '97 to present

  • What a cheat.

  • @anshiman Another failer. This TAS doesn't use any cheat codes.

  • @Tomtelala But glitch abuse I think = cheating

  • @Prinzomniac If this glitch would have been disallowed to use for the rules, it would be cheating to use it. Glitches in general is a part of speedrunning. And as the exist in the game, intentional or not, they are part of the game. And why shouldn't be allowed to use what the game has to offer?

Using cheat devices such as game genie and gameshark is cheating however.

  • He obviously is using some sort of cheat or glitch or something because he's invulnerable, he clearly touches and passes through the plants in the pipes numerous times.

  • @TheECP This TAS is not using any cheats and the game is the exact same as the one on the NES cartridge.

The reason why he survives touching parts of the enemies is that the game wasn't programmed with perfect hitboxes. The hitboxes are much smaller than the sprites, making it possible to touch enemies without dying.

  • at 3:58, you touched a hammer and had not effect :S

  • @GagryUribeG The hitbox for the hammers is very small compared to how big the sprite is. That's why you can touch parts of the hammer without dying.

This is also the same for more enemies such as the piranha plants.

  • when I was a kid about 5-6 years old, I'd be finishing the game dozens of times, I loved it.

and I remember these blocks on 0:20 always reminded me of chocolate

  • shiiit... at a friends place we couldvn't get pass the second world cuz we were drunk :D

  • hack

  • @Horhe176 This ROM copy is the same as the game on the NES console, no hacking was made.

  • His Mario is jumping backwards.. See level 8, part 2. Crap!

  • I can finish it in about 10 minutes, but these jumps are sick. Can't believe it. Been playing for 1000+ times.

  • When you think you are good at something ...

Someone else can do it a hundred times better. True dreamcrusher :)

  • Jesus picked up the controler

  • This isn't fake, Just an emulator with cheats.

  • @BrickBlaster5000 No cheats. A TAS is never using cheats. You only add input to the game. And the game is an exact copy to the NES cartridge.

Meaning, everything that is done in this run works the same way as on console.

  • i was sent here from Vsauce

  • todo es mentira vean 2:19 TRANSPASO LA PLANTA

  • like a boss

  • se ve muy fraudulento

  • FAKE!!!!!

  • @stewiedg97 Another person who lacks knowledge to what he just watched.

  • ok he is cheeting+

  • @Martin161294 No cheating when TASing and everything works the same, and can be done, on console.

  • He do the level 8-2 backward

  • fake retard

  • @PRELCAMINO This is just the kind of run the description says it is. Which means it isn't fake in any way. You should learn what you watched before making stupid comments.

  • @Tomtelala There is indeed a lot of retards here that don't know what TAS is. >_>

  • @jcmario643 Sure are. And they are all too dumb and lazy to try to find out either. Most people never even read the movie description, it's so annoying.

  • @Tomtelala Yep.

  • @Tomtelala Hey, can you explain how he goes down the pipe and ends up in Warp Zone? I don't get it.

  • @jcmario643 If you follow the link in the description, click on "Game Resources" at the top and then "Super Mario Bros." you can find an explanation to it. It's the "Alternate pipe glitches" section.

I hope it makes sense, or else I could try to explain the explanation :D.

  • @Tomtelala So as long as he is far enough on the screen, he can use the pipe to go to warp zone due to the pipe data/whatever being out of date?

  • @jcmario643 When you reach the area with the vine, the game will load the "entrance" to the warp zone into the game. He then has to delay the camera so that the loading points doesn't unload.

The game can only have one such "entrance" stored at the same time. So when he's going through the pipe, the game takes him to the warp zone entrance.

It's a bit weird...But I believe you understand the overall idea of it.

  • @Tomtelala At least I think I do. Lol, this is complicated.

  • to false to furious...

  • Too bad he didnt do it fairly. Walked through several enemies and a wall.....

  • @HiddenInLight1 TAS ( tool assisted speedrun ) videos often utilize glitches to get the fastest possible times. There are videos where people do the game fairly. He also moved the beanstalk warpzone in 4-2.

  • @HiddenInLight1 That is because how the game is made. It has not got perfect hitboxes. Nothing in the game was changed for this run and everything works THE EXACT same on console.

  • go to y8.com if you wanna play this game online

  • it took me like 7 years to beat that game

  • WTF??? i've never end it in 5 years of play!

  • amazin'

  • those jump should is like the song it self

    The sync so god toghether

  • This is both awesome and bullshit! I counted no less than 8 times Mario got hit!

  • @scoot1105 Bad hitboxes detection in this game, that's why Mario suvives touching parts of certain enemies. That's how the game is.

  • That was good! Now let's tell the author to try this without tools!

  • AWESOME!!

  • Bullshit! He gets hit by the spike right at 4:00 and lives.. No wonder you can't rate.

  • @AdultsAreObsolete That's because the game's hitboxes are bad. You are able to touch parts of enemies without getting hit, that's how the game is made. And this works the same way for anyone that is playing the game.

  • @Tomtelala Yeah your right also I should be complaining cause it also says tool-assisted. But I see no record here...

  • @AdultsAreObsolete See no record? You mean record as in fastest time beating the game? There's another TAS that is one second faster, which is the record. The best real time run is held by Andrew G finished in 4:59 using a different timing. And about 5:03-04 with the same timing as this,.

  • did u hand chuck norris the controller

  • Awesome GAME ! this was best when i was young :-)

  • CHEAAAAAAAAT....

  • @TFGbluestar TASes are never using cheats. Everything made in this run works exactly the same on console.

  • @TFGbluestar It's a TAS <_<

  • This is absolutely insane!

  • you lost 0.5 seconds in area 8-3

  • @Aurin21X Nothing was lost in 8-3 and no one has yet been able to improve that level in any of the later TASes.

Where exactly do you say he lost time?

  • viciado

  • mario in 5 minutes and

DOING THE MOONWALK LIKE A BOSS

  • pinche visioso

  • @Tomtelala

Point being - the TAS does the work. Could you or any of these people doing speedruns sit down in front of the original console, using the controller, NO emulator / TAS / anything involved, and do that? No. That's the point. In ANY game, if you are not playing it the way it was intended, if you are using a tool to assist you, it is considered cheating. Could I take a computer to map out moves to a chess tournament? No. Even though it's a "tool" to "assist", it's cheating.
