I was there too. Having earned a living in the forest industry myself, it wasn't a popular topic discussing the band's performance out there but I didn't care because I liked their music!
And in retrospect, a lot of good has come of those protests back in the day.
So cool that Midnight Oil dropped in by helicopter a few miles down the road and were whisked in by SUV's to jam like that. What a great memory.
Thanks for having recorded this and submitting it.
I was here for this and it was amazing, I had tears in my eyes when they sang this song. Thank you Midnight OIl for comming to BC and helping to protect our future :)
Great song. Very well performed considering it's live, and they're playing outdoors, which has a tendency to cause the sound to fly into the stratosphere. A hearty "thank you" for posting this.
Peter Garret, our Environment Minister, and a former vocal critic of Uranium mining, has just approved a proposal by a private company to expand its outback Uranium mine, giving permission to produce uranium oxide, so to meet growing demands for nuclear power.
This same company has just lodged a second application to develop the nearby Four Mile deposit, in Nth SA.
It was in Clayoquot Sound, Vancouver Island,British Columbia Canada. The protest went well, eventually, but not before hundreds of protestors were arrested over about a 6 month period. There was a moratorium on logging, which may or may not last forever.....
Yeah! Actually my friend shot the video and I was sort of behind the stage leaning against a charred stump...My most vivid memory of the concert is watching the loggers singing along with this song...They knew all the words! Irony at it's finest!!!
great band!

So cool...I was about 10 feet back from that spot! And the loggers that were there, to protest the protest, enjoyed the concert too...way too funny.
