So Obraztsova won gold, and Natalia Osipova won bronze (in a different category). Quite a star studded competition in 2005! Does anyone know who won silver? It seems rather fitting that the silver winner should have gone on to be a star too!

@DreamsontheWater I believe Ekaterina Krysanova won silver, though I could be wrong. She's a leading soloist with the Bolshoi right now, so I'd say she has done very well.

When I've seen her beautiful 90 degree arabesque lines throughout the whole variation, the one where she lifts her leg up much higher at 1:01 looks so out of place and not half as pretty. It just goes to show how we are getting used to seeing 180 degree extensions everywhere, and seeing them used at the expense of the lines and beauty. We don't really notice anymore. It's a pity. In saying that, Obraztsova is ravishing, and she had to lift her leg there, to show that she did have extension!

She is absolutely gorgeous. Y is she not a principal at the kirov? I love Alina Somova, but in my opinion Obraztsova is better. so y is alina a principal and evgenia not?

@PolinaSemionovaFan yes, Alina Somova is a principal and Evgenia is not. I do not know how Alina got to that rank with her shakey technique. There are rumors that the Mariinsky director does not like short dancers, and Evgenia is very short.

The music seems really off because there is a problem with the camera... If you look at Osipova's Kitri variation from this competition it happened there too. She's really good--very clean jumps, and so effortless!
