This movie is... okay. My only problems are that the writer of Indiana Jones also wrote this movie, and he made it way to similar to Indiana Jones. It may be the same writer and the movie may take place around the same time, but it is still way to similar. And also, who takes a man in a stupid purple costume seriously? I mean, what other ghost (other then pac-man) or super hero have you seen that wears purple? It is just waaaay to silly that costume...

They have to make another movie of "The Phantom" - I remember when I was alitle, I saw a Phantom comic movie where The Phantom meets his brother. And the brother is evil and got these eyes that glows and shit.. And The Phantom has to take him down blablabla.. Don't really remember all of it but.. Just remember it was awesome =)

I saw this movie on opening day in 1996 & thought the evil henchwoman (who turns good in the end) was pretty cute & hope she got more roles in the future. Then sitting down (in 1998, two years later) for the first time watching "The Mask Of Zorro" I saw Cathrine Zeta-Jones (pre-Douglas) kick ass & really happy she got the career she did.

I always thought the purple was too much but had to be used due to the comics...but turns out The Phantom is colored blue in Scandinavia and red in Italy.

A great movie. It combines the best things the old comic books and movie serials had to offer, the superhero genre, film noir and the adventurer braving many dangers to find ancient treasures. This movie is like one big epic tribute the Golden Age of Hollywood.

I personally enjoyed the movie, but it could have been done much better. The addition of the supernatural didn't fit the stories or premise from the original comics. While they might hint at it (such as the existence of the Loch Ness monster in a more recent story) its made to be ambiguous and not take center stage.

This is a great movie! If they do make another one, it should totally be with Billy Zane and Kristy Swanson. They were perfect in this movie!
