  • Check this guy's video out 243cal wins again>1017 Yard Coyote Greybull Precision John Burns.

  • @1941pearl I have seen this, incredable shot, he used a 105 grain berger VLD, I use the 95 grain VLD and they are very accurate and hard hitting.

  • @1941pearl if you watch that vid the yote gets up after his fall and runs away

  • @golfdashin1 Pretty sure i saw a dead coyote, and thats it. Someone needs to get their eyes checked LMAO!

  • @Velocity4000fps Watch it again at 1:59 in the vid it is up and running down the hill it might have died later but in that vid it clearly gets up and runs

  • @golfdashin1 I have excellent long range eye sight (eye doctor said, and he is a long range hunter) but anyhow not going to get into it on Velocity's channel with you . Coyote is grave yard dead and did not run, this is not the cartoon with the road runner either. LOL

  • @1941pearl check the vid at 1:59 it is running it might be dead now but it didn't drop dead in that clip

  • @golfdashin1 friend you need to get your eyes and hearing looked at, that coyote in 1017 yard coyote shot greybull precision john burns , did not run it fell off the rocks and rolled down to the bushes , to where the shooter found the coyote. Now look very close again. NO MORE ON THIS till you study coyote video fifty times and write on the black board 500 times I will not argue on and or disagree with 1941pearl on Velocity4000fpc video comment page again.... LOL

  • Gut Shot

  • @ranchers4life LMAO really!!

  • Too far. Poor deer! 30-06 from that distance next time..

  • @saisandoval LMAO what are you talking about? .243 30-06 300 mag, at this distance it dont matter what calibur is used. By the way the bullet is traveling well over 2000fps and with plenty energy to spare. Its not always about how much power you have, it has a lot more to do with where you put it.

  • can you guys please do some autopsies on your deer and video the bullets performance?

Id love to see the fragmentation of the bergers and how the acted inside the deer

  • @freestylmx311 We will do that next time, we did recover a few of the 95 gr. .243 VLD, and 95 gr. hornady sst. Have yet to recover a 168 gr. 7mm mag VLD, all have been pass throughs. We could do a video showing a clip of the shot and then the recoverd bullet and show how much weight it retained. I might just do that, stay tuned.

  • @Velocity4000fps

VLD and SST both great rounds. How do you feel about the comparison?

Have the vld's been fragmenting inside?

Ill be looking out for a vid from ya

    thanks!

  • @freestylmx311 Ya both bullets are deadly. The VLD fragments violently and will destroy anything in it path after it penetrates up to 3 inches of tissue after that it comes undone, but still leaves the base of the bullet intact. The best way to describe it is a big game varmint bullet. The sst is a traditional bonded bullet, only it is one of the best of its type i have shot. I think the VLD is better for longer shots, past 600 yrds. no matter the range they will do the same thing consistantly.

  • i have a marlin .243 and i love it. so accurate, so precise and it has low recoil... overall the best gun ive ever hunted with. @JPEBeard bullet grain has a lot to do with how fast the deer goes down, i use 100 gr. to ensure they sit down on the spot

  • @venom1124 Yep, .243 is very accurate. A lot of that accuracy comes from low recoil and high BC of the bullets. The VLD i use have a BC of .486 which is very high. You really dont need magnum power for whitetail.

  • did u gut shot it

  • @bigmac73981 No...i heart shot it.

  • @Velocity4000fps just some how it still ran a fair way... ?

  • @GunsMoreGunsAndStuff She went 35 40 yrds with a hit just behind the elbow, we found her in a tangle of brush. We had to follow a blood trail because it was so thick where she died. We had a hell of a time getting her out. Thats why we tend to aim for shoulder now and anchor them where they stand. Whitetail are pretty tough animals, i have seen them hit with a 50 BMG rifle and run nearly 100 yrds.

  • @Velocity4000fps only went 35-40 with 450 yrd shot pretty darn good shooting, and I my 243 is in a 700 rem. Var. heavy barrel, it's been call a pea shooter, I tell those who make that comment, bring it on baby bring it on. The shot you made I ran your vid a couple three times and could see right off that you got it behind the shoulder, a double lung shot, well done Velocity 4000fps!

  • @1941pearl Im always being told a .243 is not enough for deer even when the proof is right in front of peoples faces. What they dont understand is that more power is no substitute for shot placement. As long as you hit vitals with a good hard hitting 95 100 or 105 grain bullet they are done. Dont get me wrong i like my magnum caliburs as well. I love my ruger M77 target .243 most accurate deer varmint rifle i own. I have a rem 700 in .17 fireball i use for groundhogs and predator hunting.

  • @Velocity4000fps yep I like the 243 cal. win. so much I found a Remmington 788 in 243 cal. bought it! Why Remmington quit making that model has me befuddled, a excellent shooter right out of the box. Like to see other 243 ers get on this story/ video. I use 80 grain Sierra Blitzking BT bullets for grdhogs. And 85 grain Hollow Points BT for deer (head Shots for does, bucks get R in the throat, drops them on the spot. NO running shots! Thanks again Velocity for sharing this video .

  • @1941pearl Remington makes a good rifle, my brother has a remington R-25 semi auto in .243 and it is a shooter. I have a few videos posted of him hunting deer and groundhog on my page. I have never used sierra blitzkings, but have heard good things about them. I mostly use nosler bergers and hornady bullets. I will pull off a head or neck shot every now and then, but if the shot is way out, i will go for the higher percentage shot, shoulder lungs.

  • I think there are good shooters and bad shooters, i never shoot an animal further than 150 meters, but I respect that someone says and knows that he could shoot far. For me is the risk to high to shoot such a distance... Weidmannsheil!

  • i love my 243 best gun ive ever had so far

  • Did you hit the deer and did you find the deer? Looks like it got away. not sure i want a 243 anymore..

  • @JPEBeard It was a hit, she was done after 40 yrds. I love my .243 accurate deadly and low recoil.

  • @JPEBeard Almost all deer run after they've been hit, even perfectly hit. The only reliable time a deer will not run is with a spine or head shot. Most deer run between 10 and 50 yards whether you shoot them with a .243, .30-06, or a .300 magnum.

  • @JPEBeard your dont see missed deer rare up on its hind legs and limp off the field most of the time, plus the bullet is supersonic, which means the deer was hit about 2 seconds before the sound waves go there (deer's reaction was milliseconds after u hear shot) missed deer will not only not run until the sound get there they will usually try and figure out what/where the sound is before they start running. chances are, a miss at that distance would give time for another shot before it moves.

  • @JPEBeard .243's are the only caliber i hunt with where i live (in North Alabama deer is the biggest thing i hunt around here and a .243 will do a number on a hog if i see one of them too), i dont reload, use rem core lokt 100 gr. and have killed several deer, farthest at +- 250 yards but wouldnt feel underpowered out to 400. plus at 400 there is only about 20 in of drop from my zero, i have kill a number of coyotes at +400.

  • @JPEBeard dont get a 243 ive shot and hit at least 3 deer with a 243 all good shots but never found them so now i dont let them get a way i use a .300 wiin ultra magnum

  • @sammyy0123 LOL, i have lost 0 deer coyote groundhog the list goes on with my .243 more power is no sub for shot placement. If you had good hits the deer died, why you couldent find them is beyond me?

  • @velocity4000fps what is the ft lbs of force for that round and I just recently traded a gun for a Remington 700 .243 what load do you recommend for it for deer

  • @buzzbot991 If it is a 1-9 twist the berger 95 gr. VLD is deadly on deer. Berger recomends a 9 twist for the 95 gr. The HSM loaded VLD is 2125 of energy out of the muzzle going 3174 fps out of a 26" barrel. It drops 5.7" at 300 yrds, so just aim a touch high and let er rip on deer. 1068 en at 500, and dips to 991 at 550 yrds. The only other factory load that comes close is the 95 gr. hornady sst superformance.

  • @buzzbot991 I use Remingtons 100 gr. for my .243

  • @buzzbot991 Hornady Superformance SST 95 Grain they have 2100 ft lbs of energy and 3185 muzzle velocity. they are very good hunting rounds.

  • Not to be trolling here but at 450 yards a .243 doesn't have the recommended amour of energy this being a 1000 ft lbs at 400 yards through my studies it is about 100 ft lbs shy. But altogether it was a great shot looks like it hit both lungs and maybe got a piece of the heart

  • @buzzbot991 I would not try a shot past 500 yrds with a .243 on a deer. Like i said the berger VLD is hitting harder dropping less and way less wind deflection than your normal 6mm bullet. That being said the 95 gr. and 105 gr. 6mm VLD is more than enough at this range, a 100 gr. soft point is nowhere near the energy or drop of a VLD. It wont knock a deer off its feet like a 7mm mag, but the .243 will kill out to said range. I have seen coyote killed at 1000 yrds with a .243 using 105 gr. VLDS.

  • Great gun and a brilliant shot.

  • @jgoldston96 Thanks!! the rifle is very accurate, one of my favorites.

  • @Velocity4000fps nice shot

  • @redsoxtd Thanks!

  • @SupremeAmerican Both lungs, and ripped off a chunk of the heart, i should have gotten footage of that, for whatever reason i dident.

  • Browning x-bolt .243 rules. Perfect gun for white and black tail deer. Light kick light weight accurate and plenty of power to do the job. Highly recommend it if anyone is looking to buy a deer rifle for California white or black tail. No need to go higher than a .243.

  • 3100fps @ 450 yards, I dont think so

  • @matty86suk Out of the muzzle.

  • Nice shot.i have a black remington 243 model 700 with a bushnell scope.even though there smaller grain they have the power to put down any medium game animal.i use 100 grain remington core lokt and it rules.

  • Good shot, you obviously did your homework. However that's a very light bullet. I would have used a 6.5mm at a minumum.

  • @Aussie038 Its light, but heavy enough for whitetail and pronghorn, but these berger VLD's are not your typical hunting bullet. They hit very hard out of any calibur you shoot them out of, either the HSM loaded bergers or handloads. I would shoot the 105 gr. VLD but my ruger will not stabalize them with a 1.9 twist, a 1.10 twist for 105 grainers. I do plan on getting a 6.5 creedmoor.

  • @Velocity4000fps Now a 6.5 Creedmoor would be the ticket! (ps sorry if I just elevated your craving :-) )

  • @Aussie038 LOL, i already have planned on getting one, so yes you elevated my craving a notch LMAO!

  • i woulda aimer for the head i hate chasing animals

  • @frodo70444 Not a good idea at that range, she only went 20 yrds inside the treeline. I hate chasing wounded animals.

  • @Velocity4000fps thats just me though id rather knock the ears off that bitch

  • About how high did you have to aim at this range? I got the same exact rifle I think, but mine isn't the target version, just the M77 Mark 2 I think.

  • @MrCoonTrapper I used my elevation turrets to adjust for the range. You can use a bdc reticle for bullet drop, but feel clicking the range is more percise.

  • Nice video. I have .308 but I am looking to buy .243, because I want less kick. How would you compare the kick of .243 to .308 and .223? I also had a saiga in .223, but I had to sell it.

  • @Igoman1984 It has kick, but less than a .308. I like low recoil because you will be more accurate at long range. I use rifles like the .243 for 500 yrd deer, which my ruger is a target rifle that has some weight, so recoil is not a issue. I use muzzle brakes on hard kicking rifles, like 7mm mag. The .243 has less kick than a .308, but more than a .223, but with plenty of stopping power with the right bullet.

  • Toasted her!

  • @WTFHunting She dident go far, 30 yrds tops.

  • @Velocity4000fps

That's the way we like them! Good shooting!

  • @ufailhard1 You can get berger 95 gr. VLD bullets in HSM factory loaded rounds. They are loaded pretty hot. They recomend a 1.9 twist to shoot accurately.

  • @ufailhard1 You cant see it that far away but the bullet hit her leg on the other side. You can tell by the way she was running. It nearly broke the leg in half.

  • @ufailhard1 Just behind the elbow in the heart, if you look closly you can see her left front leg is busted.
