@TheMgfoster Yep. And thankfully we got rid of this POS chisel plow and upgraded to a 29 ft one. The one in this video had a rough fall a year ago and we finally gave up on it.
@jonamoen There's a drainage ditch there so usually we'll lift it up and work it up going "with the grain". Or occasionally if we're chisel plowing just leaving it bare. The theory is to keep it from filling in and helping somewhat in reducing erosion.
@sealteamnavy Not quite as big as it looks here. The long rounds there are 3/4 of a mile, the shorter ones are 1/2 mile. Overall the field is about a quarter section or 160 acres give or take a couple acres. Couldn't tell you how long it took, can never remember how long it takes to do these things but I'll say a good chunk of the daytime. Thanks for the comment
great video. Im a green fan myself, but everything is good that gets the job done. Great to see a video without some crappy music, camera bouncing all over the place and longer then 20 seconds.
@Acal51 Thanks, I do appreciate the comment. I'd like to get more videos up especially when we're combining but the time demands don't really favor messing around with a camera especially when we're on corn and I'm hopping between the semi and grain cart all day. I really wish I would've been able to snag some video this summer combining corn so everyone could've enjoyed watching the combine get stuck as much as I did.
Cool video...Although I have to say we run all green equipment here... Don't use auto-steer yet either... I would think I would get bored to death not having to steer.... Great choice in music also, Randy Rogers Band "Like I Used to Be" I love it
We farm a hair over 2000 acres. We don't chisel plow it all, depends what the rotation is, if its wet, if we're going to no-till or something. Eventually I'll take a video of the combine, perhaps I can snag a vid during our spring corn harvest (so wet here this fall we couldn't get it all off, now waiting for the snow to settle down).
There's a reason people bleed red! I'd love to get my hands on a quadtrac, have never even gotten the privilege to drive one, I guess I'm missing out, haha.
chisel plowing is c shaped shanks that dig into the ground inbetween 10 and 12 inches to break up the ground unlike ripping it dont take near the horsepower and you can break up the soil and pull wider implements with the same tractor
watch the gauge pod on the corner pillar we do mechanic work on farm machinery here in north carolina and had one that was faulty every time you turned on the head lamps it would jump 30 degrees on the engine temp and cut the tractor off its about 800 bucks just figured you would like to know
thanks for the heads up, i'll have to keep an eye out for it... the only real problem we've had so far with this is one time where something was messed up with the computer and none of the armrest controls including the throttle would work
yea 10-4 most of the problems you will have is with computers its all just wires and sensors these days let me know if you have any problems always around if you need any info cant exactly visit ya lol but send me a message if you have any problems
It does a nice job are you going to buy a bigger one later on then you would have to get a bigger tractor if you are. going to get a bigger Chisel Plow how many feet would you get it.....

Why did you lift the at about 1:40 ? Do you make a "road" through the field there or something?

oh its nice, we use it for pretty much anything we use that tractor for, so stalk chopping, chisel plowing, planting, spraying. Works beautifully
