@belaerdei well i guess since there is a lack of trees in the area and the tree would produce fresh oxygen and help provide more clean air since the area is filled with car polution, yeah i agree with you. planting a tree there is sooo pointless. lets just spend billions of dollars and buy up the cut down forests we sold to logging companys and replant them

@belaerdei "And the American mentality again buy forest with money like a forest can be meassured in money lol."
Exactly. That would actually help save some forest habitats. Property rights to the owners of a forest along with putting a value to the forest would help keep it alive rather than have everybody collectively use it (like with the Rain Forest in South America). Confused? Look at history. The American Buffalo was saved that way and some endangered Elephants in Zimbabwe.

some kid is going to come along and snap that tree in half... also, in about 1-2 years, those panels will be damaged and caroded and will produce about 15% of their full potential power.
You might save 20-30k $ in heating bills, but they costs about 180,000$ to put in.
GF, capital bastards win, you loose.
actual facts,
on average solar panels take about 40 years to pay themselves off, and have a usage life of a maximum of 25 years.
@surfdudezuri Not uless the tree gets REALLY big. Even then, by the time the roots get big enough to buckle the pavement, it needs to be replaced anyway because of deterioration from the elements.
actually one american produces more waste in a day than one chinaman. The only reason china is more polluted is because they have a bigger population.
true, but because there are so many people in china, whatever we do here to protect the planet is wasted when the chinese fuck it up. so unless we can convince china to stop growing their economy because the treehuggers in america feel bad about the planet, i'm not even gonna bother caring.
we're hypocrites anyway, since our economy wouldn't be so powerful if we didn't pollute the planet.
china's leader actually brags about being the number 1 polluter. He thinks it is a symbol of power of something. I think that guy is crazy. But you are right. the world is already shot. There is no piont in planting a tree. It isn't going to do any good.
IF we dont do anything at all, things are going to get worse and worse but if we at least try to go green mayb we'll keep things the way they are now (which is not in a good condition b/c ppl think they cant make a difference)
that's a big maybe, like less than 1% chance. most countries don't care about going green, especially if we tell them they should. we're fucking hypocrites cause we spent almost 200 years polluting our planet in order to develop our economy to the level its at today
have you seen the polar ice caps lately? They are melting. Global warming is real. The idea that man is causing it is not. Climate change is a natural occurance.

I support planting a tree only if its going to be a Palm tree. LOL
I actually have 2 acres of Coconut Trees in my back yard here in the Caribbean. lol
Coconut water is the best thing for your kidneys btw.
But I like seeing it something about the long trunk and branches ontop like an umbrella that just fascinates me.
I tried going green once but it did suck. I realized American oil companies kept buying out Solar Companies researching cheap nano and plastic solar cells.
You should go green and plant trees or save a species or recycle or ride bicycle or stop using electricity ONLY if it makes YOU feel good. Because that's about all it does. I find it silly that the humans think we can actually save the earth. Who are we anyways? We are just like bacteria on a toilet bowl multiplying producing foul odor.
The earth doesn't need humans to save it, because the earth will save itself, even by just wiping all us out.
Looks like fun...at least until i spent a summer landscaping...lol
6.6kw of potential "green energy" courtesy of the fossil fuels and the pollution needed to make the silicon.......Alas, There is a catch 22 in everything
Not knocking on you, but gotta be a bit sarcastic....that little tree is really gonna help with the CO2? :P
Why not plant tons of gardens on top of the buildings? They'll do more and you'll get fresh food too!
In twenty years they'll be spending taxpayer money to cut that stupid tree down because the roots will be tearing up the pavement. Going green is just an expensive way to be a jerk-off liberal. Wake up, the Earth has been on a cooling trend for the last seven years.
My 71 year old godfather remembers the time in the late 60's when the world was afraid we were going into an ice age. Also, we have more forests in America than we did 100 years ago, because the more trees we cut down, the more we plant.
That's completely false. In fact, our actions impact the world more than we can realize. It's not a matter of yes or no. A simple gesture of good will isn't absolutely decisive but contributes.

I remember a place that planted nice oxygen breathing trees just to have the tree roots break the sidewalk, curb and street not to mention the roots broke the waterlines under the road as well. Must have been revenge for all of their tree relatives being cut down.
Many people do not seem to understand that trees, animals and the earth have a symbiotic relationship. Tress breath our carbondioxide, they exhale oxygen which we breathe, the oxygen is also used to build ozone- 3 oxygen atoms. Of coarse thier should be no question what the earth does for the trees. A complete symbiotic circle!

This comment has received too many negative votesshow
dont be trendy? how about this dumb bitch not be hypocritical? i bet she will never take the time to plant a tree ever again. its not like you can just smash up a sidewalk and plant trees. im sure you would have to get a permit to do so. someone who refers to being green as trendy is a stupid fucking idiot
its not so much an effort as all she is doing is putting a video up most likely hoping ppl will be like "oh shes so cool" being green is not necessarily about doing the above n beyond like buying the solar powered roof or w/e which seem expensive n then hope to be praised for it. all it takes is to choose plastic over paper or use an air dryer rather than paper towels. hell i dont even drive (i live in the city). ya shes making an effort but for the wrong reasons it would seem
Nice Cadillac DTS parked near your new tree! If more Americans would have bought USA-built cars we wouldn't be in the debtor position we are right now. I have seven Oldsmobiles, Buicks and Cadillacs and they always run great! And...you are, once again, fabulous!
Going green in Fort Greene. I love Brooklyn. Prospect Heights & Fort Greene. Grew up near there and the video brought back memories of street corner Doo Wop, real pizza, Italian ices and egg creams. Stuck in the Sierra mountians near beautiful Lake Tahoe these days but Brooklyn I'll be home soon!!!
You are beautiful, but damn you need to learn how life rolls. You are way to liberal for me and I can't believe how none of you know how to use a shovel. I could have planted that tree in 5 minutes by myself. Typical lib though, talk alot but really can't get anything done.
I just stumbled on your channel and after watching 7-8 of your videos now, I have to tell you how glad I am. I love your videos! The topics you present. Your opinions. And even the little things like your statement about feeling bad for the trees that won't be picked in this video. Looking forward to watching more!
Yes your job as a resident on this planet is done. You have planted a tree.
Solar panels are nice....but they should be installed as a regular design option into most commercial/residential buildings. This planet as a whole better start getting it's collective green asses in gear and do more than plant 1 or 2 trees if we want our children to enjoy living here as much as we did. We treat this planet like our own personal rental property, but we can't just ditch out on the rent this time.
wonder how much gas and diesel fuel it took to bring those trees in????? how come NOTHING was mentioned about that??.. and talk about bad parenting, kids with no eye protection?..and i hope they had a permit for that shit...HYPOCRITE!
you're an idiot. Planting trees is beneficial for the environment, its good for the neighborhood by increasing your property value. It amzes me that nutjobs like you find a way to complain about anything
HAHA its so easy to get tree loving hippies started.and hate to burst your bubble, that spot where the tree is going, its still gonna collect garbage. its the inner city.and will probally die from the bus fumes and the dogs and homeless people pissing on it.not saying youre a hypocrite,im saying she is,shes worring about the planet as she is dying her hair.if she isnt crushing berries and using it as hair dye. its more then likely bad for the earth.
GPCMALIBU, a lot more fuel than it took to get that Made In China computer from the factory, to the docks in China, then across the Pacific Ocean, off the docks in the USA, across the country/state, into the stores, and then into your home.
Should've used a chisel to break the concrete or a pickaxe. Guess you had to work with what you had. Nice to see some trees going up. Good job Res! His roof can also be turned into a garden. Wind turbines and solar cells can be homemade. Nice for those who have the time. Great vid Res!
Hey, The Res, nice job. If we all did a little bit there would be no pain and much gain. Being environmentally friendly doesn't have to cost much in time or money.
Technical point: your audio compression is way too high. Sounds like 16kbps MP3 or something. Too much! I reckon, considering videos get recompressed, you'd want 64kbps on your uploaded file. Preferably AAC. :-)
It pleases me that he also painted his roof white to offset the heat island effect from building rooftops. This should be mandated for all new construction in every city.
Solar cells can be installed in suburbia, however, you may not be allowed to put them up if your city or neighbourhood doesn't allow them. Similar to how satellite dishes can be restricted. Also, the amount of power you get depends on the amount of sunlight the cells receive. They can be expensive as well, but are an EXCELLENT source of energy!
That's really funny how you said you feel bad for the ones you're not picking. That's how I feel when I buy my Christmas tree each year. Even though they're only going to die, I still feel remorseful for the ones left behind. :(
Good one. You are camouflaging your advertizing a lot better than you used to when you did it previously. I actually enjoyed this vid. You would make me a great wife. Wall-e out.
planting a tree is trendy going green is on the cover Costco magazine. in fact it was trendy 5 minutes ago now its just so five minutes ago.its on the cover of costco magazine dammit
Your Funny I bought a tree for My Mom for 75 bucks the guy couldn't find the keys to his bobcat so He said he would deliever it & My Mom couldn't decide where to put it until half past forever so when they got here the hole wasn't finished so they couldn't drop it right in. Wear eye protection when busting concrete
So glad I'm in the foothills of NC where the houses are built around the trees. In FL, where I just moved from, they raze acres of trees, build nasty box-house suburbs, and then plant a few pathetic saplings.
Trees with roots exposed will have a (very) hard time catching on, the bigger the worse, the earlier in the year the worse. Get trees with earth attached..
actually, tubes prevailed in the 1960's, emp attack would have been limited to the few solid state circuits that were use at the time. Now everything is solid state.
Besides, what does the 1960's have anything to do with it? The pentagon can't even protect itself from unarmed twin engine civil aircraft, how are they going to protect us from the Russians or the Chinese if they gang up on us?
a good idea from any perspective, say...for quality of life... Some simple pointers... it's usually best to plant trees during the winter. Also the trees purchased should come in either a container or sack (protect the roots. Dimple greenery and/or annuals are a good idea that provide protection for the soil and a great look that's practical. In a some areas it may be called "green"; however, many of us with yards plant dozens of plants each year just for nice landscape.
Good for you Rez! I really have great respect for you for doing this. Im one with the environment myself so it alwayse makes me happy to see somone else helping the earth out!
Yeah, and they should sell it on ebay. I hear people get a lot of money for things that have weirdly grown into the shape of some religious figure. ;)
you guys were wearing jackets, so i assume your taped this during the winter. would be cool to see how the tree's doing now, some months later, and if it's blooming.
It was actually in like, May! It was just an unfortunate, cold, gray afternoon out of the blue. But the tree is coming along nicely! Next time I visit it I'll post a picture. :)
You know, I sort of don't mind if some people are just going green because it's trendy - the bottom line is that the planet and the life it contains are really being helped, even if the motives are a little off in some cases. All that really matters is that things are changing for the better. :)
Boring...I hate your attitude...im going to chop down a dozen tree's in my neighborhood just to balance out your thoughtless actions.

People will want them when oil starts climbing.

dont be trendy? how about this dumb bitch not be hypocritical? i bet she will never take the time to plant a tree ever again. its not like you can just smash up a sidewalk and plant trees. im sure you would have to get a permit to do so. someone who refers to being green as trendy is a stupid fucking idiot
zombiefriend 3 years ago
At least she's making an effort. What have you done lately?
sithypoo 3 years ago
its not so much an effort as all she is doing is putting a video up most likely hoping ppl will be like "oh shes so cool" being green is not necessarily about doing the above n beyond like buying the solar powered roof or w/e which seem expensive n then hope to be praised for it. all it takes is to choose plastic over paper or use an air dryer rather than paper towels. hell i dont even drive (i live in the city). ya shes making an effort but for the wrong reasons it would seem

Solar panels are large, expensive and inefficient.

Should've used a chisel to break the concrete or a pickaxe. Guess you had to work with what you had. Nice to see some trees going up. Good job Res! His roof can also be turned into a garden. Wind turbines and solar cells can be homemade. Nice for those who have the time. Great vid Res!

cute video but plant baldcypress or willow oak, squirrels will appreciate it
Generalrecall 3 years ago
Hey, The Res, nice job. If we all did a little bit there would be no pain and much gain. Being environmentally friendly doesn't have to cost much in time or money.
Technical point: your audio compression is way too high. Sounds like 16kbps MP3 or something. Too much! I reckon, considering videos get recompressed, you'd want 64kbps on your uploaded file. Preferably AAC. :-)
PikemannUrge 3 years ago
It pleases me that he also painted his roof white to offset the heat island effect from building rooftops. This should be mandated for all new construction in every city.

Cool, kudos to the old guy with a huge solar panel. I hope I have a solar roof, can it be installed on a average house in suburbia?
eatfastnoodle 3 years ago
Solar cells can be installed in suburbia, however, you may not be allowed to put them up if your city or neighbourhood doesn't allow them. Similar to how satellite dishes can be restricted. Also, the amount of power you get depends on the amount of sunlight the cells receive. They can be expensive as well, but are an EXCELLENT source of energy!

Wear eye protection when busting concrete

So glad I'm in the foothills of NC where the houses are built around the trees. In FL, where I just moved from, they raze acres of trees, build nasty box-house suburbs, and then plant a few pathetic saplings.

Not too well? Hmmmm, just so long as he'd about as fu cked as the rest of the cave dwellers is good enough for me.
ShiekUrBooty 3 years ago
Yeah, that might have been real scary in the 1960's ....
TheModestAgnostic 3 years ago
actually, tubes prevailed in the 1960's, emp attack would have been limited to the few solid state circuits that were use at the time. Now everything is solid state.
Besides, what does the 1960's have anything to do with it? The pentagon can't even protect itself from unarmed twin engine civil aircraft, how are they going to protect us from the Russians or the Chinese if they gang up on us?
ShiekUrBooty 3 years ago
a good idea from any perspective, say...for quality of life... Some simple pointers... it's usually best to plant trees during the winter. Also the trees purchased should come in either a container or sack (protect the roots. Dimple greenery and/or annuals are a good idea that provide protection for the soil and a great look that's practical. In a some areas it may be called "green"; however, many of us with yards plant dozens of plants each year just for nice landscape.

invisibleisland 3 years ago
You know, I sort of don't mind if some people are just going green because it's trendy - the bottom line is that the planet and the life it contains are really being helped, even if the motives are a little off in some cases. All that really matters is that things are changing for the better. :)
