  • Good stuff as always, Maria!

  • @RandomWalker39 - Thank you! Maria

  • @revolutioncondition why did she say maria and you did too at the end of the phrase? lol

  • Good video, well thought out and good examples of dynamic moves

  • @TheJMFitness Thank you! maria

  • Great video! I practice hockey some years ago. Now I'm into rollerblading. Thanks to your warm up I´m start my sessions in better conditions, just whit a few days doing it. There is some exercises for increase the high of my jumps?. Excuse my terrible english and the question out of place but I´m think you'll have the best advice. Thanks!!

  • @ELRodador Your english is great! I am glad the dynamic warm up is helping. The best way to increase the height of your jumps is to build your core strength and build stronger hips. Are you currently doing strength training? I have a video that will help - just search YouTube for "London Ontario Hockey Training: Leg Exercises for Hockey" - that will help both your jump and your hockey. Hope this helps.

    Cheers,

    Maria

  • thank you this is my new warm up from now on :)

  • @AnklBreaker9 You are welcome - I think you will notice a big difference.

    Cheers,

    Maria

  • Stupid question, obviously it will work. But I mean are there any other stretches that are goalie specific that I can do?

  • @leeshzookeynee25 Not a stupid question at all - I do have some goalie specific stretches here on youtube - search "top three ways for hockey goalies to improve hip flexibility". This is one of the more popular posts but there are quite a few others - just check out my channel - revolutioncondition.

    Thanks for the question.

    Cheers,

    Maria

  • @revolutioncondition i would like to c some goalie stretches to that video is not really a strecting one,the hip one...i have extreamly bad pain in the back of my hamstrings at all times my doc sd he thinks i have tight hamstrings,,,ive done streching very good for a month now and no improvement,i think its from the 2 bad disc in my back,,,,any suggestions..looks like that foam roll would feel good.

  • @18wheeler76 Search my video called "Off-Ice Goalie Training: Hamstring Flexibility - how and how much?" this video may give you some more ideas. Definitely give the foam roll a try - but also if you have disc issues in your back and hamstrings that feel chronically tight, I would consider visiting a good sport physiotherapist who may be able to help you out.

    Cheers,

    maria

  • Would this work for me if I'm a goalie?

  • Are your knees touching the ground in your lunges? And would you suggest for them to do so? I've always been taught that your knees should not touch the ground.

  • @everyonesAjunkie Good question - my knee is coming down until it lightly touches the grass. In this instance the goal of the movement is primarily a dynamic stretch of the two joint hip flexor. In the absence of a knee pathology that limits an athletes' mobility, I do recommend that they lunge or split squat to the point where the front knee is bent to a thigh parallel position. Do not 'bounce' your knee off the floor. I typically will place an airex pad under the back knee for a reference.

  • should i warmup with sprints and plyos after doing these movements or is that not gonna help

  • @griffinman13 I guess it depends, if you are using the warm up prior to a sprint workout, then you may want to do some progressive sprints as the final stage of your warm up. If you are going into a game situation, I don't know that sprints and plyos are going to help a whole lot. You could do some sprint accelerations once you get on the ice. I hope this answers your question.

    Sincerely,

    Maria
