They have all passed over the Rainbow Bridge. Jellybean just passed away last month R.I.P. little ones.....

The SI Zoo recently got 8 meerkats from the Minnesota Zoo, I believe.

god, i remember when they first came here. i work at night and they were always a treat. so whimsical and alert. down to only one now. i miss them.

i'll find out. but i think it's jellybean. only,you didnt hear it from me. sometimes they frown on outsiders knowing an animal has died. anyway,i will let you know this week and whether or not they plan to get more. hope its not too cold were you are;have a good night. since you like meerkats...did you ever see the nature program:"meerkat alert"? it was a short film about a family of kats;sort of where meerkat manor got it's idea from. i love them too! talk to you later.

They would probably have the news on MeerkatsRules or on KMP. i'll go have a look around there but its sad to hear the news. i hope they are able to get more for the last little guy left.

i havn't seen the documentry "Meerkats Alert" though, sounds interesting. i'd like to watch it.

I have not been at this zoo since I got fired from there. I wanted to create a behavioral enrichment program for all the zoo animals but was criticized on a daily basis for all of my efforts. I was told that it was a waste of time and created more garbage for other keepers to pick up etc.

Hopefully things have changed with new educated staffing and the realization that a zoo has to implement vital enrichment tools to improve the quality of life for it's resident creatures.
