  • great cover

  • great cover, check mine out on my page.

  • 0:15 for the love of god somebody tell me what splash that is.. It sounds amazing...

  • hey man, your bass is so nicely tuned! what brand is it?

  • I am currently learning this song, and it's a lot of fun to play.

You're playing is great, but I don't think it's very accurate. For example, Danny plays 8th note triplets on the hi hat the whole time, you play something like 32nds. That's what I hear anyway!

Nevertheless, great playing, I like your impro on the small tom near your hi-hat. Is it a 10" ?

  • you can just count it in 3 actually.

  • Hell yeah bro! Well done!! Check out Toolology for the Flint Mi. Take on this and other tool staples. Their drummer Scott Fischer is a monster! You guys are on the same level imho

  • that was awesome bro

  • pure accuracy, pure precision, such a delicate touch. I aspire to be as good as you one day.

  • how long have you been playing and how long did it take you to learn this song? and how did you learn it? for example: by ear, tabs, sheet music, tutorials. whatever. please and thankyou broski

  • Sick dude

  • Does anyone know the time signature of this song?

  • @jpalma09 This song has a very intriguing time signature, which frequently changes throughout the song. The verses can be counted as 12/8 (12 eighth-note beats to a measure) but it is actually split up into recurring measures of 5/8 (5 eighth-note beats to a measure) and 7/8 (7 eighth-note beats to a measure)

  • does any body know the time signature of this song?? i´ve trying to figure it out with no success :(

  • @jpalma09 Basically 13/10. The beat revolves around Justin's extra bass note in the 2nd bar of his notes. The middle of the song is Adam playing 4/4 then Justin comes in 5/4 with Danny accenting on the beats. Complicated rhythm but this is one of those songs you don't count to.

  • @R4z1m thanks man, i will better stop counting, is driving me crazy.....

  • generally, i would be insulted that you are playing during adam and justin's interlude; but that actually sounded pretty cool

  • Excellent drumming... it strays from Danny's version in places, but I only dislike it because I prefer his simplicity. Rock on. ^^

  • i love u this song fucking rocks ur my new best friend

  • Amazingly well executed! You don't have this without the backing track do you? :)

  • Don't suppose you are anywhere near Essex uk are you? Is so, please join our band!

  • I'm a great Tool fan, and man, you did a great job on this one!! Also, one of my favorite songs by them! Keep up the great job!

  • Did Danny Carey teach you this himself????? Your playing is spot on!!!

  • 13 people are pricks

  • Dude You're an epic drummer

  • that was the shit. holy shit. like, fuck. damn. that was great man. yea i thought i could play this but actually watching it is something else entirely...

  • @420stonedcold just in case4 you havent seen somehow, i prefer \m/ :)

  • how the hell do you play with your hi-hat all the way over there!? I need mine near my snare or I can't do certain stuff. That said, you're 10x the drummer I am. Very good cover.

  • what the hell was that at 5:39 ? that was not the fill.

  • OMG! Mirror cymbals. Do you use it when you shave?

  • Awesome job!!!

  • Yer right about te odd time sigs because the tool drummer is a fucking god. And so are you. Jesus Christ you are great. I wanna start takin lessons.

  • how is it called the little drrums on his left?

  • @thecerealkiller123 it looks like its just a 8 or 10 inch tom with legs.

  • how is it called the little drum?

  • how is it called the little drum?

  • Thank you so much dude, i can finally play that weird solo(ish?) part at 3:10 now that ive seen how its played instead of just hearing it.

  • the end of that song is so fucking tight!! great cover too!

  • pinstripes.... ugh.

  • Do you play the triplet hi-hat at the beginning as RRLR?

  • @Danyistheman it looks like he does

  • DUDE 6:33 WAS THE BEST PART!!!!!!!! thumbs up if you agree

  • DUDE 6:33 WAS THE BEST PART!!!!!!!!

  • The bass drum at 6:26 waz sicker than anything! Nice playing.

  • The bass drum at 6:26 waz sicker than anything! Nice playing.

  • do u even no wat a 2and2 is cuz in the chorus thats wat he does

  • Great drum cover. I love this band. :) Love your drum set by the way.

  • Nice relaxed posture, not easy when you drum with long arms!

  • props.

  • Verses alternate 5/8 & 7/8 I think, so whoever said it was a bit like 12/8 was spot on.

  • Beautifully played - clean hitting and finesse coupled with command of the whole kit. The 5/32 rolls on the hat and 8" tom (?) sounded really crisp. It really was a joy to watch - well done.

  • @kristiaaaan It's a 10" snare custom made by Sy. Other than that, you're right. :)

  • @kristiaaaan i completely agree, i'm a drummer and have been learning for 7 years and i wish i could play to that, i'm probably going to have to learn it for school though

  • you can hit them skins man!nice

  • You sir. Are a badass (:

  • 10 people missed the like button. AWESOME drum cover.

  • Do you have Powersonic from Remo for Bassdrum ? ;)

  • wow.

  • awesome!!!! btw that looks almost exactly like my set!

  • ssiiiiiicccccckkkkkk

    what time is this in??

  • @manutdistrash Many different ones

  • well done

  • what's the drum below your hi hat ?

  • Uff nice cover man well played

  • Woooooord

  • not bad..!

  • Dude, awesome cover.

What kind of cymbals are you using?

And just wondering, is that an 8 or 10 inch tom?

  • You're a fucking beast. I also like how amazingly well you are able to keep your beets in the middle of the snare by wearing away the coating

  • dude you hella bad ass!!

  • it was ok you did too much on the hi hat and during the breakdown and the mini drum solo didnt seem like it went with the song. But overall it was decent.

  • that cymbal is minuscule :o

  • also your kit is awesome and sounds really nice.

  • did you learn this song by ear or drum tabs

  • this is one of those songs that I MUST have on my MP3 player to lie in bed and listen to to reflect on the past few days and let my imagination and my emotions run wild.

Nice cover BTW dude. very nice :)

  • nice kit

  • queria uma batera dessa

  • Can't wait to learn it.

  • amazing song...love odd time signatures cause of this song

  • tool is so damn hard to play and you are so good man! RESPECT!!!!

  • Lol those rolls we're perfect

  • Perfect drumkit layout my man! and nice playing!

  • brilliant!

  • precisely, on time nice style with high elbows just hit them harder man ;]

    nice job

  • 4:32 and on was freakin sick!

  • the only thing that could make this better is your diddles on the hi hat (even though the song is slow enough for you to single the part) but the hi hat sounds really good its the kind of hi hat that makes percussionists jizz their pants lol

  • SO BADASS, perfect hihat job!

  • DOOD YOU'R SNAIRS SHOULDENT BE ON

  • their not.

  • @SyThomasDrums they're*

  • Comment removed

  • @Rich606 lmfao.

  • @Rich606 lmao

  • @Rich606 lol... thumbs up

  • @BR00KEAWSOME wtf are SNAIRS?

  • @BR00KEAWSOME idiot ...

  • y is ur high hat so far away from ur snare?

  • @screwyoufilms

I'm guessing it's because he's got a tom mounted on the highhat's stand so he needs a little more room so it doesn't brush against his left leg. Plus he's got good reach so it's still comfortable for him. That's what it looks like to me anyway.

  • @screwyoufilms because else the double base paddle can't fit in

  • i hate seeing drummers who has a floor tom on their left because it falls out of order with the rest. I dont understand y perople wont get 5 toms. 3 mounted, 2 floors. unless u just love ur floor toms.

  • Every drummer has their own ideal drum set-up. Its whatever works for them.

  • @xDrumsx4xLifex

Get used to it cause lots of drummers use setup's like this. Some much more odd by your standards.

  • thats not a floor tom dude its a little rack tom if your talking about what i think your are but since he uses it for accents and tool songs its actually a lot more convenient there close to the hi hats

  • yeah i don't really get what your saying dude, personally i don't like having 3 rack toms, its obnoxious and theyre too close together. spreading shits out if you can use it well. like this kid.

  • @xDrumsx4xLifex It's probably more of a reason of space, comfortable playing setup etc. many people like having their ride there, and many can't function well with a triple rack setup. Which is why they stick a tom to the left. And some people maybe just like it there, you never know. I once did that so I could work on my non dominant side of my body and to improve cordination. People do it for different reasons/

  • I've been drumming for 3 months now, and I love a challenge.

I can play the chorus (or w/e) now.

I recommend all people who want to play this to hit the hi-hat RRLR during the hi-hat burst. It's the easiest way to nail the bass drum and the hi-hat without losing track of the song. I see him playing more then 4 on the hi-hat during the burst, but for beginners it should be doable with 4.

I can also recommend Vicarious if you want to learn bass-drum in 16th notes.

  • Dude that was f*ing sick, definately going to hit my drummer with this vid. Love the improv you had goin on. lml

  • Nice drum cover, did you learn it from playing the song over and over or do you have the drum music for this song?

  • Love the improvised parts during the guitar-only section! great job, keep it up :D

  • dude i love how you hit the cymbal at 1:34

  • Your amazing dude. TEACH ME!!!

  • Hi great work!

Could you tell me the models of the two tiny splashes that you have on your left, please?

thank you and keep on drumming excelently!

  • They Look like PAste PST 5's

  • Does Danny play the verse pattern on the hihat with single strokes or double strokes? Anyone knows?

Great job dude, especially the later parts are fucking hard to play..at the moment I'm trying to hear out all the different time signatrures like 5-7, 6-7, 7-5.. some crazy stuff in there!

  • i always thought it was singled out, but i dont know exactly

  • jeah, thought so, too!

  • That bridge is probably the greatest I've ever heard on youtube (in my opinion). Great job dude!

  • wich part is the bridge?°°"

  • Winkelogio5 fucking retard, so did danny and now to compare danny with joey gayson joey SUCKS compared to danny, tell me what the fuck can joey do that danny cant? i propably can tell u 100 things that danny does that joey cant even comes close to.

  • joey uses triggers. you dont have to hit the drum that hard when you have triggers, which makes it easier to play fast, especially the bass drum. Danny fucking rapes the drums

  • What the fuck are you talking about? They're two completely different styles. Are you stupid or something? And I bet there are 100 things Joey does that Danny can't do.

I'm mose of a Danny fan, but seriously, why don't you think about your words drumass

  • daaaamn this motha fuckas good!!!

  • why would you watch this vid if you hate tool

  • you hate tool and yet.. you like slipknot? I'm confused

  • damn! your good! how the hell do you do that!?

  • i love your posture and just how you move around the kit!

    you did that perfectly!

also- loved the groove you put in there in the section with no drums.

    FLAWLESS!!!!

  • Holy shit! Fucking awesome dude! Love tool and that song great job!

  • daaammmn, your cymbals are NICE

    sick cover!

  • A man at work,great job bro!Love it.

  • great song, great cover, keep it up man !

  • i love the thing under your hi-hat :)

  • whats your top left crash (above the toms) and your china? I love the sound of them.

  • That song alone is hypnotic, I don't know how you find that groove so naturally as you have for this video. Good job, man.

  • Nice cover man! I've been learning this the past month or so and got the 'section' done for the most part, need to get it up in tempo and get the section after the huge lack of drums in the middle.

A quick question, what size are your hats, they look massive!

and a suggestion, Tick and Leeches is another Tool song that is awesome to play, even if you just play the intro it's so satisfying

  • you got a sweet set of cymbals there bro

  • Um, insta-Subscribe. SERIOUSLY. Way to go, man.

  • you nailed it! 5 stars!

  • 5/5 i favorited this vid and suscribed to you u are the next danny carey

  • Break down the song into pieces, then write those pieces down. Practice those pieces slowly and gradually increase speed. :)
