Can you tell me when the 2nd track was pulled up between Mosgiel and Dunedin? I am just trying to work it out(the approximate date), but you probably know this information... Thanks. :)
A cycleway alongside an active railway line? Sounds dangerous. Can you provide any additional information as to how you propose to do that? You'd have to have the cycleway fenced off along the entire Kaikori valley to Mosgiel run, to prevent cyclists straying onto an active main line, and being mowed down by a train. That would be expensive to build. I'm all for the cycleway, but am worried about the logistics of this idea...
@VauxhallViva1975 Where the cycleway is close to the active line it will be fenced as per existing cycleways such as the Ravensborne track in Dunedin, and many around Christchurch that run alongside active tracks. KiwiRail has set criteria for fencing in situations such as this.
@GEHDunedin Oh, Okey dokey then. :) I was just curious about that aspect is all!!! :D I guess you will be trying to go along the old trackbed? It used to be dual-track between Mosgiel and Dunedin, so there is probably space on that side of the track. Best of luck.
