oh! one more thing that we loved to listen to was journey to the centre of your mind by the amboy dukes ,{ ted nugent } hope to find that on You tube some day ...Al..
aah..so good to hear this again, I can remember [foggily] listning to this in the late 60's mr blue By clear light ....did you know clear light was another name for window pane acid.....little celaphane type squares and so darn trippy.....aah the sixties ....I miss the sixties .....Thanks you ....Albert in East Vancouver......
@VagelisOpeth Mr. blue by Clear Light was recorded in 1969 (the year I got married) Elektra released a bunch of great stuff that year, Jac Holzman was president and he was making a conscious effort to get off the folkie stuff and more into rock.
i have a cassette copy of this album that has survived since the 70`s. i have played mr. blue before work over the last 30 years as a friendly reminder of the orwellian world in which we live. peace and clearlight.
I remember watching Clear Light perform this song from the upstairs balcony @ the original Fillmore Auditorium back in Oct '67, along with Lee Michaels, when he had the full band. Pink Floyd w Syd was supposed to headline that night, but never showed up. What a trippy place that was, full of smoke, swirling lights, & strange people!
Ah yes, Clear Light..I remember having this on vinyl and I believe it came out at about the same time as the Doors "Strange Days". Speaking of Cliff DeYoung, it's easy to hear his theatrical leanings on the Mr Blue vocals. The bass player was Douglas Lubahn and played with the Doors on some of their tracks. Oh yes and the drummer was Dallas Taylor later to join CS&N
Which one is Cliff DeYoung on the album cover? None of them seem to look much like he does today. I'd guess one of the two guys with mustaches, probably the one in front.
Professor Zappa sez: " Hey, Boys & Girls, this is a song about Biometric Surveillance State (a subsidiary of Orwell Planet) which you will now be living in starting in 2011. Heya~~~ heya~~~ haya~~~ :-) - weve got Neurotracking, all kinds, right here folks....getcha getcha nanobot dots onboard kids!...AND, lay-dies and gennel-men, it's all going to put you in that ONE BIG DATABASE yourrrrr social network & handheld is already feeding everything you say & do.... into.."
Back in the 60's in LA it was the seeds the doors , love and the clear light ....ps.. The doors wanted the bass player in clear light to join their group he wanted to stay with clear light but was the bass player on some doors studio songs....
The lead singer is Cliff De Young who went on to have some success in the movies, and tv, particularly the movie "Sunshine on My Shoulders" . Saw these guys at the Blue Law off the Harbor Fwy (LA area) with Steppenwolf in 1968. Great show
I've spent the last four months looking for this album in thrift stores. I found it on ebay but it was too expensive. I ONLY wanted THIS SONG! it wasn't on youtube four months ago, I can guarantee that. I wonder if this is the guy who won the auction.
Did you notice how much he sounds like Mr. Smith in The Matrix? Change "Blue" to "Anderson" and you have Hugo Weaving as the main bad guy.
Thanks for posting this, I knew it would show up eventually. I still have a mint copy of the LP, but haven't hooked up a turntable in a while. The bassist, Doug lubahn, did some studio work with the Doors (Elektra labelmates).
@zenmasterjimbob collectors choice issues cds by groups that othere companys wont touch because they werent big sellars another company performance records has issued cds by such notable performers as charles manson david koresh ed wood and gg allin
@PunkysDilema1970 heavy fuzztone when he sings it can be arran-yea -yanged thats called a malisma [whenever you have more than one note for a syllable thats a malisma like sherry bay yea bee by those jersey boys ] also i think the guitar is out of tune on purpose to simulate an lsd trip.
@Vidoculer This guitar kills facists was woody guthries motto here tom paxton continues in that tradition with this anti totalatarianism theme [this must have been a good demo for cliff de young to get acting jobs a producer would have to be an idiot not to hire him ,that producer sam fuller didnt hire jim morrison he didnt know what to do with him ] .
and the guy third from left is Dallas Taylor...played bass for Crosby, Stills, etc.

Heard this 44 years ago. Thought it was lost to obscurity. But not! Our memories do not fad away with time passing...the numbers go into heaven.
