I agree with Jack Davis. Free trade policies have been a failure. Tariffs help to build American industry. Abe Lincoln wanted to use

U.S. steel to build the railroads.

Once America had grown to be the leading world industrial power, free trade policies worked well for a time. That era has long since passed. Today we are a nation of importers - not exporters.

Trade deficits have grown over the past 25 years - a major cause of our shrinking dollar.

Free trade clearly isn't working.

Jack Davis is right on in regard to foreign trade. Big changes need to be made to protect our hurting country. We need Jack Davis in Congress. Vote for Jack Davis this November.

Nobody is arguing that the third world should be poor. I would argue that if they keep manipulating the markets they WILL be poor. The reason is that protectionism begats protectionism. Our ultimate (and only) response to unfair trade policies and China manipulating their currency will be barriers. Talk is cheap, and it has never worked. Reciprical trade sends a strong message.

At best, the policies they advocate will only moderately damage the US economy and the US standard of living.
