So it had been years that I had been fishing, so I decided to go fishing last week. I actually went everyday for about 6 hrs each day and did not catch ANYTHING!!!!!! While people all around me were catching catfish, bass and blue gill. I am so frustrated right now that I am just thinking about selling all of my gear and giving up. Any advice?

Liver hooks work well. I can usually on fine those at bait shops, and large outdoor stores anymore. Bait mesh or panty hose on a circle hook works well. You may also try a circle hook, then wrap elastic sewing thread around it, alternating tension. If you do it right you wont even need to tie a know on it. I am sure there are plenty of vids out there if you look around.

I find the berkley braid knot to be strongest for me on all types of line the line breaks before the knot does but thats my experience.

@NYGMENfan1: Polomer knot is the strongest... Scientifically proven. Look it up. For mono that is bigger than 50 pounds. I like the clinch knot.

@CapturingOutdoors i know lots of knots but palomar knot is definately the best. all the other knots can pull in a good fish but i usually use 6 lb test and i get snagged alot but sometimes its just a lil tug and either my line will break at the knot or itll come out. with the palomar knot it takes a really really good tug for the line to break theres like no slippage and its very very strong

@IamJazid : The key is not to cast it, but swing it out there. It is a challenge at first but, once you get the hang of it, you will be catching tons of fish. If you need proof, I can send you some pictures of me catching 14 pound channels on this method. Well if you need any more information, just post me.

Well the bait i used is chicken liver from either Publix or Walmart. The secret is for making the bait stay on your hook is you take the liver out of the box and put it on a pan... then spread jello powder, and let refrigerate for one night. Then the day of the trip it is nice and solid but, still soft enough to put the hook through. *note*~ Do this process the night before you go fishing.
