hard to import other cars in the beginning. I'm not sure how it is now. Are they getting more cars from Mexico and other through other countries? So I guess in a way, Fidel saved a lot of those old things and culture. It surely would have been all turned into new casinos, had Fidel not taken over.
hi Dave- Thanks! I got the images from the documentary. My understanding from it is that they get parts from around the world, and when they can't get them they make them, as in the case of the breaks, which they make by hand at great peril to themselves from the asbestos. But the cars are what was left over from the 50's when Castro came in.
cool reminds me of the poems in the game Interstate 76

nice video...of course had Fidel not taken
power...these cars would have been crushed
in favor of new American or other foreign cars.
Since the U.S. embargo has been in place, it was
hard to import other cars in the beginning. I'm not sure how it is now. Are they getting more cars from Mexico and other through other countries? So I guess in a way, Fidel saved a lot of those old things and culture. It surely would have been all turned into new casinos, had Fidel not taken over.
