  • Yes, every culture believes that marriage is between a man and a woman . Including the native americans, who call them "two spirits," and consider them special. Including the buddhists, who don't actually care. Including Islam, where a man and several women can marry. Including Christian and Jewish figures such as Abraham, King Solomon, etc.

  • The bible doesn't say gays can't get married. It says you have to kill them. So Christians, how about you stop being against gay marriage, since you're not required to be, and start showing your true colours?

  • is Rick opposed to being a fat disgusting unhealthy pig? Doesn't look like it.

  • Bronco Obama for president!!!!

  • Your all a bunch of idiots for watching these people who take away from your own creator. I applaud you Bro. Rick Warren!

  • @TheYoungTurks If you think this guy is outragous when it comes to comparing gays to pedophiles, watch the 1950's anti-gay propaganda film 'Boys Beware', you'lle laugh your asses off..

  • You claim that the republicans are being too obstinate when your refusing to accede to a change in a goddam word? For Chrissake, why don't we just make all legal "marriages" civil unions if it's that big of a deal.

  • There is a movement in the US among evangelicals that claims "Marriage is a Christian concept, and as such should be restricted to Christians".

  • @1RadicalOne Problem with that is marriage has been around far longer than Christianity.

  • Since when have facts stopped fundies?

  • @1RadicalOne Which is the reason Christians will never succeed in that particular movement.

  • If they get the numbers or the resources, they will.

  • @1RadicalOne They already have the numbers and resources. That's the scary thing.

  • To borrow a (particularly apt) term from nuclear physics, they lack critical mass. They have large numbers and lots of money and power, but they are still at the point where if they tried something like this, they would be eaten alive. When (not if, if nothing changes) they have a 90% fundamentalist majority...

  • Cenk usually calls out hypocrisy when he sees it. That's why we like him.

  • It makes me sad that some christians do not use their sense of reason, and goes on slandering people despite the most basic of all the messages in the bible. "Love thy neighbor." That is something which cannot be reasoned away. Love is something which all can agree is a good thing. Love would make the world a better place. Methinks love is not limited to between man and woman.

  • Thus I think God gave us a sense of reason, so that we can see his message to humanity today rather than his message to the people 2000 years ago.

  • One must live by the essence and sum of the bible... The bible is the word of God, but reasonably, would not God have something different to say to different people? We are different people today than we were 2000 years ago. That is a fact.

  • That's exactly my point Bannol. Why would Jesus not give time relative commands? You must think about the motivation behind the commands... If Jesus loved all people... Why would he hate gays? He didn't. That's the point. He simply wanted to protect them. Now today we must use reason when we look at the commands. Look at the time perspective. What were the motivations behind them? Those are questions we need to ask. Religion is dangerous if you take them literally to be related to all times.

  • hahah XD hes so ignorant and shady

  • We live now, not yesterday or 5000 years ago. It is time for change and change will come.

  • My jaw just dropped.

  • Jesus basically said: None of you have the right to judge, because you are not yourselves perfect. Well said if you ask me.

  • started somewhere. Unprotected anal sex is a risky business. Would it not then be a good idea to try to prevent men at the time to have such sex all together?

Then the part about stoning as a punishment for lusting. Then you might want to read about Jesus encountering the people who wanted to stone a prostitute. The one without sin throw the first stone. There is a difference between the old and new covenant with God. Judaism had it wrong, and Jesus had to come and set it straight.

  • Then again.. using reason the same thing can apply for the men should not sleep with other men rule. How do you think men slept with other men at the time? They were not anatomically different. So where do you think they "had their fun?" Aye... This too very dirty and very little sanitary. With the lack of prevention and the like, do you think the men sleeping with other men might have a slight problem with a disease we today know as HIV/Aids? While it is not limited to gays, the stereotype -

  • If you turn again, to take a second glance in lust, then it is sin... While everyone can lust, it is important to lead the heart.

Secondly, the shrimp thing. You have to take the time perspective. At the time, there were no food regulations and cleanliness was a problem. The bible says all other beings from the sea but those with scales and fins were impure... Which in other words basically means impure... You eat... you die.. They were smart protecting the lives of their fellow Christ friends.

  • This cracks me up... I am christian and aye, the bible does mention you should not eat shrimp, it speaks againt sex between men, and it speaks against lusting. However, you seem to pick parts of the bible just as much as Warren. First of all, the lust thing is merely that you should try to avoid lusting for women. It is a difference between lust in your mind and you heart. What my congregation practice is, if you watch once and lust for the woman, or man.

  • more like ANTI free speech. that what the religious are all about.

  • Rick Warren at 1:59 "I don't even believe what I believe' = best Freudian slip.

  • Abraham married his sister...

  • @Gordonisgreat thats fuckin disgusting....

  • This must be THE DUMBEST pro-gay rights/anti-homophobia rants EVER!!!!!

  • @grozde you must be dumb cause you said EVER!!!!!!!

  • @ThePsychoticScyth396

Well, if somebody DOES surpass this - I don't know if he could be classified as Homo Sapiens!! ;-))

  • @ThePsychoticScyth396

PS: This doesn't mean that I'm not dumb; however, my stupidity does not prove that guy's "rant" any more reasonable ;-)

  • What is this sanctity of marriage they always speak of? What exactly is holy about a man owning a woman? That's what marriage was back then. It wasn't about love. It was a man acquiring a woman and many times several women. If I had my pick between two loving homosexuals to get married or a man who thought women were little more then cattle to be owned, I'm gonna say the former deserved to be married over the latter.

  • Who is this fat douchbag? What a dick.

  • @nulife022 The douche bag millionaire that runs a church in California called Saddleback church.

  • @nulife022 His name is cenk uygur

  • Here's where Warren is inconsistant. I've been in his church and his sermons and once I remember him saying something to the effect of: "I'm not a legalist, legalism is bad because my list of what you can and can't do doesn't match yours or anyone elses'." So he's said christianity isn't about following the laws of the Old Testament. Sure, there might be some explanations for this but if you just think about it for a second he's not even internally consistant sometimes.

  • I like the Young Turks but this is a low point....very selective and very biased.

  • @barbadamas08

So what would you consider unbiased? For them to say that they oppose gay marriage?

  • Sometimes it's hard to get to clear thinking about such an appealing character such as Rick Warren. Thanks Young Turks!

  • Looks like what I have heard about turkish bath houses is true

  • @gymer15 Reminds me of that Sertab music video with all the hot girls (and only girls) in a bath house. Hot.

  • "HOHHOHOHOHO I took away their rights and they think I'm homophobic, I compared them to pedophiles and they think I'm homophobic HOHOHOH!!!

    Lmfao

  • lol this guy don't even know the Bible and yet he twists it to say the Bible supports what he was saying

  • Love is love.

Did he say Buddhism was anti-gay? Does he do any research?

  • Although I find Warrens argument brutally faulty, I still do not believe that Mr. Warren HATES or fears gays. However, he incorrectly believes that marriage is exclusively for heterosexual couples.

  • I think Cenk's comments are generally correct. However, I would not assume that Mr. Warren hates gays or even fears gays. However, he still is incorrect in his implicit assumption that marriage should be only granted to heterosexual couples.

  • From the get go with the clip, I knew that it was full of shit.

"...and to me, the proposition eight thing was really more about free speech than anything else..."

Okay, here's a translation of what he said: "I think that an act which would restrict civil rights was actually an act of civil rights." In-fucking-genius. I wonder if he even realises that that's contradictory. If not, he needs to stop trying to make sense and just go with the norm for people like him: babbling incoherently.

  • He clearly said that he's against redefining the meaning of MARRIAGE. You are free to have a relationship but don't call it marriage, you have civil rights. You're just quoting old testament but not new testament. Be fair have Rick Warren on your show instead of crying like a little girl.

  • @mavrickiii That's funny. How come he says that he is also against polygammy and incest when it is clearly in the bible. L

  • i hate these guys who look too much into what someone says, he probably made a wrong comparison, but I truly don't think that is what he meant. Nor can the young turk man compare him to Bush killing people then giving money back for aids... now isn't he doing the same as rick warren now.

  • Just because someone doesn't agree with gay marraige doesn't make them homophobic. There is no 'fear'. Perhaps we just think it is perverse. And who the hell is this shaved unibrow faggot in the video? Is he a Turk? Like a real Turk from Turkey? If so he is a mooooooslim faggot butt pirate that wipes his ass with his bare hand. Nice....verrrry nice just like Borat would say!

  • this rick warren guy is a lie, he hates them, and his laughing says it all because hes cornered and nervous

  • This should be TYKT-n The Young Knucklehead Turks, or TYLTEOOCT- The Young, Lt's Take Everything Out Of Context Turks...total BS. Cenk is way off here. The guy was simply saying marriage is 1 man and 1 woman...no mor, no less...not that government should be the instrument that defines marriage...bc it shouldn't.

  • TYT are usually better with things like this. I think Rick Warren made one bad comparison, and that was jumped on.

I don't agree with him, but he doesn't seem like that bad of a guy. Marriage is just an important, traditional thing to him. He doesn't care (probably) if two dudes live together in a legal relationship and both call themselves Mr. Smith. He just has a problem if the churches are forced into allowing it.

This is the only argument I can see against gay "marriage".

  • lol

Neocon-tards tackling the ever-so important issues that could destroy life on earth as we know it - gay marriage.

When you neocons are ready to be taken seriously let me know. Until them PLEASE SHUT THE FUCK UP!

    .

  • @CamaroIROCInfantry

shut the fuck up retard and go kill yourself

  • the problem with his biblical interpretation is the New Testament: homosexuality is condemned, but dietary restrictions are abrogated. adultery is still wrong, but the death penalty for it is not endorsed.

  • the polygamy argument isn't a good one.

if you oppose polygamy just because it's illegal, why do you support gay marriage? last I checked, it was illegal and that was where this whole thing started... if it's between consenting adults, WHY is polygamy (or polyandry) off the table? or, for that matter, why is an incestuous relationship between consenting adults "wrong" to these folks? you can say it's "gross" but then, that's an argument used by the opponents of gay marriage as well.

  • He never said, "one man and one woman." He said, "a man and a women." That leaves room for multiple wives. Warren was trying to say that marriage has NEVER been between a man and a man, or a woman and a woman.

  • "a man and a woman" not " a women". Is English your second language? And yes Warren was saying that traditional marriage in religions across cultures including Islam have never been an older man marrying a young girl, or polygamy, which simply isn't true. Muhammad was married to Aisha who was 9 years old, and he had 4 wives.

    You're seriously delusional.

  • I think that some of your points were a bit of a stretch. Im for gay rights.. and i dont even like rick warren.. but you claiming that he's sayin gays are like pedos and all have aids is "reaching" twisting ppls words to make your point is petty and childish... do better.

  • Were you even paying attention to the video??????

  • @radchud yep

  • Every single time we have a human civil rights issue in this country the religious right argues that they don't think it'd be right to give the people their rights because "they" would have to change some definition. Blacks would no longer be the "Children of Hamm", women would no longer be "made specifically for man's use", and now marriage would no longer be "between a man and a woman". Though we know on the last that it obviously hasn't always been between a man and a woman.

  • that being said i dont think any biggot church has to be forced to marry gay people...

if the belive god hates gays then let them be biggot asshole!

as long as they stay in there own biggot asshole corner and dont bother anyone.

  • its really that simple!

why is no one driving the religious freedom argument!

anti-gay marriage should be illigal in the us!

you have religious freedom! dont you?

  • Gay mairage is a religious freedom issue combined with a secular issue.

There is no reasonable secular reason agains gay marrage.

If there is no secular argument then there is no acceptable reason to ban a church from marrying a gay couple!

not all religions are biggot religions!

Christianity, jewdeism and islam has no right to dictate to the rest what is and is not allowed!

    Thats not religious freedom!

    Thats religious tyrany!

  • Thank you Cenk!

The hypocrisy on this issue is mind-boggling. Here is the question I wish people would ask more often. The joining in wedlock of a man and a woman is a sacrament in the Roman Catholic Church. The name of that sacrament, however, is NOT marriage. It is HOLY MATRIMONY. In performing this right, most Christian churches also use "joined in Holy Matrimony." So do they have a separate word for their ceremony and their sacrament? Yes, indeed. They just want to own the state too!.

  • This guy is so articulate. I wish I can talk as good as he does. He's by far the best anchor!!!!

  • Brilliant!

  • butthism is NOT a religion.. and if ur already mentioning it, buddhism recognizes the third sex

  • Comment removed

  • I mostly agree with Cenk on what he says about this hypocrite Rick Warren.

Just one thing to clarify: The laws of the Old Testament are no longer valid for Christians, except for the Ten Commandments. The prohibition of homosexual sex is actually also in the New Testament.

  • Matt 5:18 "For assuredly, I say to you, till heaven and earth pass away, one jot or one tittle will by no means pass from the law till all is fulfilled."

My buddy Matthew seems to think otherwise. Of course, if all has been fulfilled, then the prophecies of Revelation must have come to pass already, in which case plenty of the Christian God's word can be allowed to pass away.

  • Beskargam: Paul says that anyone in Christ is free of the law.

Matthew belonged to the Judeo-Christian church of Jerusalem, who wanted to maintain both the law and the gospel. This branch did not prevail against Paul's concept of justification by faith only. Traces of this Judeo-Christian branch can still be found in the New Testament, for example in the letter of Jacob.

  • justification by faith alone need not "prevail against" keeping the law, in the sense that the philosophy of justification through faith does not in any way require that the various laws in the OT stop being in effect, it simply defeats the punishment for sin. Question though: do you think that when Matthew spoke those words, they were not divinely inspired?

  • For your info. Mr. Warren, no Judaism has not said for 5,000 years that marriage is between a man and a woman. Have you even read the Bible? How many wives did the patriarchs have? How many wives did King Solomon in the Bible have? (700). How many times in the Bible do people marry their own sisters? Is that the kind of "traditional" marriage you want to go back to Mr. Warren? Did you even read the Bible before making up your stories about the last 5,000 years?

  • This guy must be gay...

  • I think he needs to take the Bible in context. And about the water and donuts: They gave the water and donuts to them WHILE they protested, not to shut them up. And if Rick Warren is being "hateful" (which is bologna), then what is this guy being?" Sweet? Loving? Kind? It's a lose-lose situation for pastors. Rick Warren should have stopped the interviews and pastored his church with biblical values- not that he should have "shut-up" his opinions, but the interviews led to more chaos.

  • No idea who this guy is, but he is a genius!

He has hundreds of gay friends? Yeah sure... lol.

He respects them because when they talk to him, he talks back... that sounds pretty fucked up from start to zero. Oh and he gives them water and donuts xD Great argument Dick Warren

  • This guy is talking bullshit from start to zero. He says he does not condemn homophopes, yet he compares them to pedophiles and compares our times with 5000 thousand year old rules.

Oh, besides what the fuck does gays have to do with aids? Aids is not confined to gay people any longer... and honestly, it never was.

Free speech issue... lol you have the permission to say whatever the fuck you want, but you still sound like a old fag.

  • ann curry: 'you deny [gays] for what they are' - no, Warren denies what they do, not what they are. homosexuality is not biological or what a person is it is what they do.

  • "I'm not homophobic. If they wanna talk to me, I talk to them." WOW! What a commitment. He really isn't homophobic - he even TALKS to gays!!! what a ****hole!

  • yeah I feel like ranting like Cenk here sometimes about these kinds of things too.

  • Hes not comparing gays to pedophiles - thats like saying if you say "I don't like people who use the word irregardless and I don't like pirates" am I comparing someone who uses bad english to a pirate? No, I just don't like either.

You mentioned he took gays rights away. Hes just some guy with a differing opinion, he has no power to take anybodies rights away.

I agree with you in 99% of vids, but saying someones facts are wrong and to read the bible to see how wrong they are just isn't you.

  • Wow Cenk, I've agreed with your view almost every single time i've watched your show, but this one you just went to crazy land. All your arguments sounded exactly like how the republicans argue. Not the substance of the argument but the points you were making.

Like you're basing your arguments on the bible, Rick Warren said nothing about the bible, he talked about his opinion and referenced the history of marriage. When he listed other marriages he doesn't agree with he was doing just that -

  • The polygamy issue is consensual -- but the polygamy of the OT patriarchs goes against the teaching of Gen 2:24; but yes, Islam allows four wives, I think, per husband...

Re. food... adultery is spoken against in the New Testament, but the dietary issues are done away with for Christians (e.g. Acts 15).

  • Romans1:24-32Therefore God also gave them up to uncleanness,in the lusts of their hearts,to dishonor their bodies among themselves, who served the creature rather than the Creator, who is blessed forever.AmenFor this reason God gave them up to vile passions. For even their women exchanged the natural use for what is against nature.Likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust for on another, men with men committing what is shameful, and receiving in themselves

  • Suck my cock bitch. Quoting the bible is a lack of respect for EVERYONE that does not have the same beliefs you do.

  • Just some food for thought.

Research the United Church of Canada. We accept Gay, Lesbian; everybody. Even those who do not accept anyone else.

"Human sexual orientations, whether heterosexual or homosexual, are a gift from God and part of the marvelous diversity of creation."

This statement helped legalize same-sex marriage in Canada.

  • when did the US start to follow the bible ?

Isn't it supposed to be a "free country"

  • supposedly, but the christian right want to turn this country into a theocracy and undo what the founding fathers intended for this country.

  • Buddhism doesn't oppose Homosexuality ,get your fact right fatass

  • WOW, what is wrong with me? this is what devil told to Jesus, "bow before me and be happy" but Jesus did not do that, He walked all the way to the Calvary and died for our sins, His love lead him to the cross. i am fron USSR, the KGB told us deny God and live happy, we did not deny God, we suffered, my father left 15 children and went to prison to suffer for Jesus, God told us to have fear and no sin, how do you think you will inherit the Kingdom of God? by only living a happy life? repent!

  • Its clear that you have a strong personal stake in these sorts of arguments. Its obvious why: If you're wrong, your Father suffered for nothing. I would have thought that God would have been ok with being denied if it meant that 15 children could keep their father in their lives.

Are you really going to use the Bible as a list of do's and don't's? Are we going to stone people to death for collecting firewood on a Sunday, or execute adulterers? And why would God care about our sex lives?

  • oh yah? then why not legalize all the sins which are listed in Romans 1, it is freedom, right? why only homosexuality has to be legalize? no sweetheart, God said clearly that it is a sin and it is discusting to Him. God burned Sodom and Gomorrah for this sin, and this God putted in the Bible as example for us. He can also burn us today for the same sin. there is no cities were burned for any other sins, only for homosexuality. I FEAR GOD, NO GAY MARRIAAGE IN MY STATE!

  • Same-sex unions have been legal in the province I live in since 2003. I haven't witnessed any cities being burned. The rest of Canada legalized it two years later; no burning cities.

Don't you think that God would have annihilated all of Canada by now? It has been a few years, and we are still waiting.

  • i was wondering where the donuts would tie in. nice finish as always.

  • the whole Bible is saying that the homosexuality is a very big sin, and God has set example for us when he burned sodom and gomorrah. God created sex between man and a woman, and He is a jelous God, when people are become perverted. read Roman chapter 1. You will never find in the bible that homosexuality is ok, never! God burned Sodom thousands years ago, He never change and He can burn California for the same sin, so repent before its too late. hell is a bad place.

  • To galinka45: Do you not suscribe to the idea that a sin is a sin? If you read further into romans you will see:

"There is no difference, 23for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God"

There is no such thing as a "very big sin" just sin. Why nitpick one sinners rights while allowing others?

  • What is wrong with you? You know its all made up right? Your wasting your entire life being afraid that "God" will get mad at you, just live your life and be happy.

  • the bible is nothing but a fairytale

  • galinka45: Where in the bible does it say that Sodom and Gomorrah were burned to the ground because of homosexuality? MY Bible says that it was simple because it was an evil place. So evil in fact that Lot insisted that the angels stay with him to protect them, and even then, the men of the city came to the door demanding that he release them so they could be raped to death. That is a very evil place, and is so because the entire city would insist on raping visitors, not because they were gay.

  • Its not even to do with the fact that rape was common place and acceptable. Rape is usually not about having sex as it is about causing pain, violence and imposing your will and power on someone. It is very much a psychological thing. Thus you can conclude that this is the sort of mindset of ALL the inhabitants of Sodom and Gomorrah (except for Lot and his family as the story goes). This was a very evil society. It was not homosexuality that caused its destruction.

  • "keep your frickin donuts " , sign me up for a t-shirt , brilliant !!!.

  • There's no need to prove fantasy false. The dreamers and "believers" are doing a wonderful job of it all by themselves.

People who live by the Golden Rule don't need to explain why getting along with other people brings happiness. Those opposing equality and fairness are busy "explaining" their selfishness.

The fact that people who are unkind, greedy and of generally poor character ALWAYS whip out God, the Bible, etc speaks for itself.

Common sense requires no advertising, BS does!

  • The commentator has no understanding of the Bible. He speaks of "Old Covenant" Mosaic Laws when he talks about stoning or eating shellfish. Lust in your heart is a sin, so is homosexuality. God condemns both, but God will forgive for any sin (lust or whatever) only if we repent from that sin and asks for forgiveness. Homosexuals need to repent as well to experience forgiveness. That's why Christ died on the cross, to forgive. That's the "New Covenant" in the New Testament. Hebrews chapter 8.

  • The issue about gay marriage to me is a simple one. Is gay life an acceptable alternate lifestyle? For the continuance of human kind of course it is not.

If taken to its logical extreme it would mean the extinction of the human race within 3 generations.

Its no defence to say its OK because heterosexuals will keep it going for us. I don't say that it should be prohibited or attacked but it should not be given equal status by society.

  • "Is gay life an acceptable alternate lifestyle? For the continuance of human kind of course it is not."

It's not unacceptable simply because it doesn't result in reproduction. That's ridiculous. You can't treat every non-reproducing 'lifestyle' as unacceptable because it doesn't result in reproduction.

  • Of course society can if it wants its continuation. It certainly would if its very survival depended on it.

Just because there are 6+ billion of us many of whom do reproduce doesn't make it an acceptable alternative lifestyle. I just wouldn't condemn anyone for it .

  • So a women/men who have the misfortune not to be able to reproduce are promoting this as an acceptable lifestyle for society?

I think they would be surprised to hear that. Remind me to look for the next "I am unable to have child pride march".

    Any other bright analogies?

  • The idiotic thing about your argument is not just that it is incredibly stupid (just because some people are gay does not mean that everyone will become gay), but also because even if everyone was gay, we could still use mandatory artificial insemination to take sperm from gay men and put it into lesbian women. even if everyone was gay, we could still have children

  • So should women who can't produce children also not be given equal status by society either?

  • The example Cenk gave is innacurate. There is absolutely nothing to say that underage girls/boys having sex or getting married is not consentual.

Of course it can be. There used to be marriages at much earlier ages than is acceptable in the developed world now.

We just have decided as a society that people of a certain age are not experienced enough to make those sort of decisions and need protecting.

  • "We just have decided as a society that people of a certain age are not experienced enough to make those sort of decisions and need protecting."

Exactly. So they're not able to make an informed decision. So they are unable to give true consent.

  • Not exactly. Its just an arbitrary subjective opinion that has not held in the past and may well change in the future. To say that it holds true for every underage person is ridiculous. The only thing that is true about it is that we have to accept some sort of standard for the protection of youth in general.

It is consential if the other person says yes. Thats the defintion of consent by any standard.

  • you don't have a clue what you are talking abt interms of the bible, thank God for the recession.Christ is exerting His punishment over America.Gayness is a pervertion because it goes against God's word for mankind, mainly driven by lust.

  • so, are you also against everyone who eats shrimp? if not then SHUT THE HELL UP!

You commit the ultimate act of ignorance, which is taking something as factual that was written over 2000 years ago.

  • Jesus made all food holy for all to eat. You are ignorant because you do not understand spiritual matters.I will not stay quiet while the family is underattack because of the ungodly who refuse to submit to God. And yes homosexuality is a dirty sin, amongst many and u will go to hell if u don't repent.

  • can you give me one bad tangable thing that would happen if gays were alloud to marry? Well, can you?

  • 2 gays joining 2gether like a man and a woman is not natural or biblical. Marraige was designed for a man and a woman, the sex they have makes them one,as men and women are different and that's how God designed them for it. It's like a socket and a plug. Children having this rammed down their throats are likely to grow up living this crazy, lust driven sinful lifestyle.Only Christ can heal this illness.

  • I don`t doubt the validity of your arguments, but it does say in the Bible not to judge others or you too will be judged.

Not all gay people are lust-driven people. You are judging them. You are committing a sin.

  • The bible states that we are called to judge, it's impossible not to,Christians are called to speak out against darkness.God has already condemned the unbeliever, judgement has already been passed so we are called 2 spread the gospel to get them saved.Righteous judgement is reserved for the believer. Homosexuality is always driven by lust.

  • "Homosexuality is always driven by lust."

I suppose you are the world authority on this. You must know a lot of gay people.

What is righteous about making assumptions about people you don't even know?

Just because a person is gay does NOT make them an unbeliever. Many gay people out there believe in God.

As a Christian you're supposed to help; not condemn. There are ways to reach out to the gay community without insulting them.

Are you God? What on earth do you know? Really?

  • I'm not the authority the word of God is and it is clear that He hates it, no arguments.God can heal you if you are struggling with homosexuality, it is a result of sin....yes again lust.I'm sorry to hurt your feelings but until you recognise that it is wrong how will you ever get healed.Stop living for your desires and live for Jesus and stop sinning, He will not listen to a homosexual who is unrepentent abt their sins.

  • Okay. First of all, I'm not gay; however, my mother is.

In essence, you made an assumption. You were wrong. That was very sinful of you, but that's okay. I forgive you, and I'm certain God does too.

My only sin is loving my mother. I accept her for who, and/or what she is. If that means that I will go to Hell, fine. That is a price I'm willing to pay.

  • Truthshallsetu3: I am a christian and I just want to correct you on two things. Firstly God does NOT call us to judge nonbelievers. And this is backed up by the actions of the apostles, disciples and Jesus himself. We ARE however called to judge other believers as Paul says. Secondly it may well be that God hates homosexuality, I cannot speak for God, however, God hates ALL sin equally. And we ALL sin. How is one christian going to have sin in their own life and then call out gay people on that?

  • Jesus already paid the penalty for ALL sin EVER, not just the sin we did yesterday or 2 years ago but all sin, that we have committed in the past and WILL ever commit in the future) Instead of judging others for their sin you should deal with your own sin first. The bible says to take the plank out of your own eye before taking the spec from others. Finally I will add that simply because one has gay tendencies does not mean that they act on them any more than straight people act on their own.

You obviously have a gay agenda because it is clear that I did not single out homosexuality as the only sin. We are called to speak out against darkness 2Tim4:2. How are you to know whether someone is sinning or not if you dont make a judgement. As I stated God has already judged the unbeliever and righteous judgement is reserved for the believer.

  • You so easily accuse me of something that isn't even true. For your information I am straight and quite happily on the way to being married to the woman of my dreams. 2 Timothy 4:2 talks about preaching the Word. Where in the bible does it say to point out people's sin to them? Nowhere that I know of. In fact Jesus never did that at all. "Your sins are forgiven" ... "You who have not sinned throw the first stone". The only time you are called to judge is the sin of the believer.

  • I said, that we are NOT called to judge the unbeliever, therefore knowing if they are sinning or not is irrelevant. According to the bible, of course they are in sin, they have not received Jesus free gift. Why do you need to know the particulars of their sin? You are not called to judge them you are called to love them. GOD is their judge. Matthew 7:1 "Do not judge or you will be judged."

If I have not said anything in my comments that isn't in line with the bible then do not accuse me.

  • I said you have a gay agenda I never said that you were gay.

Preach the good news. be ready at all times and tell people what they need to do.tell them when they are wrong. 2tim4:2

  • Nevertheless you still accused me of something hurtful and untrue. Is this a result of your judgment? Is this what God would have you doing?

  • That passage in Colossians you mentioned is Paul speaking to the christians FOR the christians. It is my job to teach unbelievers about Jesus through my actions. It is God's job to convict them of their sin, not mine. I say again. I am not called to judge the unbeliever.

  • damianGray

God has already passed judgement on sinners so it is for Christians to let them know.

Somehow you are trying to shut me up, I dont know why but Ill leave it there.

  • jesus said to his followers, Go everywhere in the world, and tell the good news to everyone.Anyone who believes and is baptised will be saved but anyone who does not believe will be punished. Mark 16:15-16

  • Again you're just proving my point. What was the 'good news'? The fact that people sinned? No. It was the fact that through Jesus all sin was forgiven.

  • Jesus said if u do not believe and be renewed u will be punished. What kind of Christian are you? Do you not ever get moved to speak 2sinners?

  • First of all, where does it say that? And second of all how does not talking about sin equate to not talking to sinners? Which I might add is impossible sin EVERYONE is a sinner according to the bible.

  • damian gray

Sir, I don't know what church you are following but I would suggest you spend more time studying the word and asking God for insite.I give up,you just want to argue for the sake of it.Godbless!!!

  • you didnt answer my question. I asked if you can cite one bad tangable thing that will happen if we allow gays to get married. If you cant think on one than there should be no reason that we shouldnt allow them to get married. Just because it would be legal for a guy to marry a guy dosnt mean that you would have to marry a guy (or girl, idk). So if there isnt one bad thing that would happen if we legalize gay marrage i dont think you should get into their lives and say that they cant.

  • @Truthshallsetu3

you are an embrassement to relgious people who have common sense, in which you don't have any at all

  • typical liberal rant no wonder our country is going down the hill

  • Dude he's so obviously right

  • What's wrong with redefining marriage? Words are redefined all the time. Should we all try and use the oldest language we could possibly salvage?

  • Rick Warren tries to appease this world too much. He should've been stronger in his stance regarding homosexual marriages. Homosexuals can do whatever they want at home, but they should stay out of my church if they intend to change my faith's moral values to fit their lifestyle.

Young turk's comment regarding muslims marrying 4 women was weak because it's NOT HOMOSEXUAL. In Saudi Arabia if muslims finds a homosexual man among them, then his life is basically over - how is that for tolerance.

  • First off, there is nothing immoral about a person's sexual orientation. That is beyond anyone's control.

Gay people ARE staying out of your church. No one is forcing any church to marry gay people. Marriage equality is a civil rights issue and has nothing to do with religion or the church. 7 countries around the world have marriage equality. None of the churches in those countries are forced to marry gay couples. Saying that they do is a scare tactic, nothing more.

  • One man+One woman=The right thing

  • says what what law says that

  • So when many important people in the bible have multiple wives, they must be immoral, right?

  • The Bible also says it's an abomination to wear clothing made of mixed fibers but no doubt people who believe in the word of God only wear 100% cotton.

  • rofl, what a whiny guy

  • fck gays, deport them to China to be hanged.

  • Seriously... if gay people are getting married.... how does that effect you? Warren is an idiot!!

  • The morality of Christianity is made up irregardless of the Scriptures. Abraham's wife Sara lived in the Pharoh's harem. Lot's daughters had sex with him after the destruction of Sodom for the purpose of procreation. In the culture of the time Mary, the mother of the one they call Jesus but whose name was actually Yahshua, was most likely 13 or 14 years old and Joseph was most likely a man many times her age. There is strong evidence in the scripture that Yahshua (Jesus) was married.

  • Rick Warren is probably secretly gay and just does not have the guts to admit it.

  • Doh, need to watch the whole video before commenting.

Interesting thought though, all the people saying its a matter of definition, that gay couples are fine but you cant call it a marriage, thats just as wrong according to the bible.

Its like saying "Sure, i dont mind you killing people, but just dont admit it."

  • The odd thing is, pedophilia, incest and polygamy are all very much part of traditional "marriage"
