  • does the power cords match the Cobra 29LTD's power cord?

  • a great radio, mine used to be on 24 7

had loads of the mods done to it

  • I used to own x2 snakes Cobra 148 GTL-DX which had the FM / CW

I agree durable and reliable after watching the review and seeing many videos of it on youtube still working. I got introduced to the CB early/mid 1980. I went 10-7 around 1986 after a fine few 6 years on the rig.

I’ve seen some Snakes going cheap on ebay I’ve been thinking about getting another snake.

Only thing is I'd have to use an indoor ant! SIGH I used to have the 2nd highest ant in the area at early 80 feet high.

  • can anny one help me out my swr is not working can onnyone help me out?

  • Can you make a video on a Teaberry "T" Bear? I have very little modulation on the radio and it would be a giant help if there was a video like this on my radio. Thanks and love your vid's! Keep it up!!!

  • In my opinion, this was the best radio ever made.

  • ganyan radyo ko ah!! 5 star

  • how do you fix the led and the tuner bar

  • Is it true that ranger now make the chassis for cobra now since they fell out with uniden? (at least that's what i heard)

  • Isn't it ranger who make the chassis for these radios now after cobra fell out with uniden?

  • i LICK my 148 daily.

it is such a great great radio. i miss the radio so much, and sometimes i wonder if the CB craze will ever come back again.

started 93, and i was such a fan up to 2001, or so,

i spent most of my day behind the MIKE.

lots of groups all around the channels, so many kids, it was fun fun fun.

i loved it. lots of dx ' ing. locals, etc, you name it, mobile operation.

    oh well.

    :)

    thanks for the nice video.

  • Great video! I wish I had this info about 15 years back when I was really into radio... Still have my Emperor TS2010 and Ranger RCI2950 lying around, seems like they're kinda calling to me, ya'know? lol Thanks again!

  • I have one of these and had it tested, works great. The technician said it has extra channels and must stay on anl switch untill i learn?Should i take it back and have it removed?I'm not sure what extra channels do?Any good advice..?

  • i have one in my truck and i can talk under light lines. i can talk through the tv 5 houses down the street bare foot

  • What PLL does it use?

  • THIS radio likely has an RCI-8719 as it is a Ranger made radio. Uniden made radios (Taiwan or Philippine) will have an MB8719.

  • smart

  • gringos rolleros

  • This is the best review of the 148 i've seen. Great job!

  • I bought a 148gtl made in Malaysia off ebay. R131 clipped, Alc turned up, vr10(am power) also turned up. My dk is 8 watts on ch20, talk into mic it shows a negative swing to 6 watts?? My antenna is a Antron 99 with a 1:1 Swr, 22 amp Pyle power supply. Why the negative swing??

  • Is the ALC turned up too much!!??

  • You have the dead key too high for one thing, and also if you're using an RMS meter it might show 'backward'. It's likely moving forward SOME, but not much.

Remember, a 100% fully modulated AM carrier has a peak of 12 watts with a DK (carrier) of 4 watts. You're not going to get much more out of that rig without doing an NPC mod, even still turn the DK down to 2-4 watts - other operators will thank you for it - you will be much louder and have at least as much range as with the 8w DK.

  • i like to see a review on the cobra 146,i hear you can get 20watts out of them i have one solid as a rock on ssb allways on freq, nice audio too.

  • you should never adjust your radio on the inside thats how so many are in the graveyard

  • i have the new one best radio ever madeyour vid is great

  • I have one of the old ones,I hit Australia with it on SSB years back, with a steel whip and a Palomar 150 watt amp.

  • you say in the video that this radio does not have an internal adjustment for the modulation.

what is VR7 for in this particular version, or is it not there at all.

i thought i remembered working on a malasian 148 and it had the same VR7 AMC adjustment that they all have.

    details please.

  • Just want to say thanks for the vid!

  • i have the same one as yours. works well, power output is low and the 5 pin is really gay but other then that its a nice radio.

shitty segments in the channel selector and the needle for the meter bangs against the right side when on sideband

  • great cb radio simular to a uniden grant both durable long life radios

  • great radio same as uniden grant i believe,
