  • If your gunna insult it make sure you can do better yourself first

  • fucking vocals suck

  • Dit is toch 1 vd beste soul aller tijden. Dampen en stampen! #funkandsoul

  • All of you so called 'drummers' commenting on the steadiness of Dave's drumming on this are ridiculous! Yes, the song does speed up a little, that is obvious. However, music was never meant to be static. It moves with the mood of song as well as the emotion of the moment. Is Steve Gadd metronomically perfect? No he is not, there is always a slight push on the chorus and bridge...etc. Put your computers away and learn how to feel!!!!

  • @jobbyb Statistic are for critistics. This one of the grooviest drums ever playd and that´s a fact !

  • The drums are AWESOME, and this song is Awesome 2

  • I never get tired of this

  • What is this, the old drum corps tick system where instead of listening to music for enjoyment we sit and listen to find all the mistakes?? You know, I've heard plenty of world renowned musicians make mistakes because THEY'RE HUMAN. But bottom line, with a feel like that, Garibaldi could make mistakes all day and still rock the house. He's Dave Garibaldi; he can pretty much do whatever he wants. Also, he's probably made more money off that drumming than all of us combined ever will.

  • Right. At 3:39 there is a timekeeping problem and that is very easy to hear.

But guys; Garibaldi has been so important to TOP, so calm down.

He has been such an inspiration to me and thousands of other drummers during

the last four decades. All drummers can have a day off..At least we can all make mistakes.

  • @malko42 Well yes, there is a slight mistake, but among non-proffesional drummers it wouldn't even be considered one, and besides, it doesn't speed up/slow down/ruin the thing a slightest bit.

  • @grajdrums Actually it does speed up. But let's not spend more time on that detail. David is fantastic and as i wrote earlier, we can all have a day off.

  • @malko42 Well, I don't think so. Whatever though, you're right. It doesn't even matter.

  • Smooth, but Im missin Brent Carter. @ whoever say what you will about Garibaldi who pioneered r&b, funk, afro cuban rythyms. He is TOP.

  • Francis Rocco Prestia is A LIVING LEGEND !!!!!!

  • Francis Rocco Prestiaaaa !!!

  • David Garibaldi is a machine!!! Great David!

  • My two favorite TOP songs ever Soul with a capital S and What is hip

  • @WarriorMigs24 I think I like Diggin' on James Brown more than What is hip... But this one is also rlly cool ^^

  • Go Rocco!!!!!

  • Hit'em with an Oakland stroke!

  • They put this on budokai 2... that is hilarious

  • David Garibaldi and Rocco Prestia layin' it down for the rest of the guys. SOLID SOLID SOLID!

  • @doogal1234

love linear drumming, wish he shared his knowledge in the 70s, when I was trying to figure him out...lol

  • I love this song <3

  • Being from the Bay... gotta go with Lenny ! Larry's right there though. T.O.P that's real music !

  • best homework assignment ever, listen to Tower of Power, thank you Mr.Brewer!!

  • Garibaldi is a master!

  • Best T.O.P. lead singer of them...Larry Brigg!

  • @MCGEHEE1 - Dude - its Larry Braggs! But still def. my favorite TOP singer by far!

  • show de bola o cara do baixo..... insano

  • amazing bass playing to keep the pocket at that tempo!

  • nothing compares to Garibaldi's groove,he's the best.

  • nothing compares to Garibaldi's groove,he's the best.

  • oh God, one for Garibaldi !

  • You know what? This 61-year old white boy (and musician) says Funk That Shit!

Will someone tell me why people listen to Miley Cyrus and Justin Bieber, when they can hear this shit?

    Funkin' A

  • I miss Bruce Conte on lead and rhythm guitar so tasteful

  • Turn that funky bass up! Rocco's waaaay too quiet.

  • @JPastorius3 agreed...

  • I have been a fan for fourty years myself and still am a die hard one. Saw these lads at the El Patio Bar on the Idaho Washington Border when the drinking age was nineteen. What a great time so blessed.

  • Larry Braggs is the Tower's best lead singer of all time. 5 Stars!

  • Its 1:27 in the morning, heard this song on the radio. Couldn't sleep till I found it so I can listen it once more before I go to bed. Thank you!

  • Tower never found the real replacement for Lenny Williams, this guys okay, but Lenny was perfect.

  • 3:25 is the best part.

  • This is the best LIVE band. I saw hundreds of concerts and TOP rips the curtains and turbulizes the air........

  • The only thing that turns me on..!

  • @Spatiebalken when i hear that soulfull song!!!!! wit dat capital s!!! hits me everytime brotha

  • I saw these guys in the Pit in Albuquerque BACK in 1977. I knew them from my dad. man did we move to their groove.

  • Da "SHIT" with a capital S.

  • david garibaldi... father of funk hehehhe

  • @TheDanielholmgren Clyde Stubblefield in my opinion, but Garibald is awesome

  • @pretorious700 yeah clyde ofcourse, but i like david ^^

  • Garibaldi...dang! what a killer drummer! Just drives the band .

  • @votman1 Yeah, he does.

  • @votman1 No he's not. He's speeding them up. That's not what he should do. No matter what you crackheads think here, if you play FUNK, you don't SPEED UP. He needs to be the ENGINE, steady paced, steady groove. Not end up 12% faster than he started out.

  • @Frontdesk99 So where's your video of drumming for a world-renown funk band, champion? At least clap along with the song before you speak.

  • @grajdrums I don;t need to "clap along". I'm a drummer. Despite your nickname, you're not obviously if you have to clap along and still don't know he's NOT steady.

  • @Frontdesk99 No, you're a dumbass. I am a drummer, the difference between us is that I don't poke my cynical nothing-but-shit-smelling nose into affairs I am not competent to. BTW, I actually did clap along the song for the heck of it, and yes, he IS steady. Just because you can't feel it, doesn't mean you know better. It's David Garibaldi, after all.

  • @Frontdesk99 For you, David's not steady just because you're not familiar with the BEST groove on earth, maybe.

  • @Frontdesk99 who do hell do you think you are lol.

  • Hit'em with an Oakland stroke!

  • Hit'em with an Okland stroke!!

  • Saw them last night at the BKing's in New York. Simply Incredible!!!!

  • One of my favorite Tower Of Power songs ever

  • Dragon Ball Z Budokai 2

    FTW

  • THAT WAS DANGEROUS!!!!

  • mix is not good i think :O normaly i heard out the bass line beautiful to the bass drum :O

  • @klick2destruct Yeah, thats right. Also the 2nd vocals cant be heard too well, and it makes it sound a bit weird.

  • IT HAS TO BE DAVID & ROCCO, THANK YOU T.O.P. BEAR

  • holy shit! this is FUCKIN' FUNK!! (with a double capital F) :-D

  • So funky i like that!

  • can you say syncopation?

  • We saw them recently @ House of Blues AC NJ (in the Showboat casino) They are tremendous!

  • rocco all the way!

  • Dragon Ball Z Budikai 2

  • The singer Larry Braggs swaped two verses the one with the music makes you happy and there are people who tell you.

    But it's still amazing!!!!!!!!!!

  • Tighter than an ugly 3rd grader.........

  • @kbless551 LOOOL

  • As MImi reminds us regularly - David Garibaldi "often imitated but never duplicated"

  • that drum set has that perfect funky pop and the horns are super tight LOVE IT!!!

  • @KMACISTHEKANG I purchased David's signature snare drum a few months ago and with a little work and a lot of trepidation (that story is whole other subject involving a very apathetic manufacturer and the nightmares that can involve), I have that funky pop with fatness and tone that you hear on this video. It has become my very favorite of snare drums and I don't see myself replacing it anytime in the future.

  • The guy who made the "left hand" driving the song comment must be a real drummer ... you are absolutely right. Garibaldi is a groove machine. He's the single biggest influence on my drumming. Yea .... guys like Weckl are amazing ... but when it comes to funk and feel ... Give me Garibaldi .... DAMN !

  • HOLY SHIT those are some fucking freaky WTFROTFLLOLFCKNBBQ ghost u have there!

  • el charlie esto no lo toka ni de coña!

  • rocco prestia has these groovy fingers - wow

  • ich bin metall fan und finds geil

  • @Mega70s Ich auch =D =D

  • david garibaldi is a must in this band

  • david garibaldi is an insane drummer - without the support of rocco would not be the same though. these guys work together so amazingly! the dream riddim section

  • Holy sheat, that funks. woooow.

    I still love the hammond!!!

But the whole funkin' sheat really rocks.

  • Si cazzo si!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • DG's pocket is so tight

  • David Garibaldi...

One of the best drummer in the world!!!

  • phuck yer comment

  • I'm going to see tower of power live in two weeks and I'm really excited and I love this song but I just am not feelin the groove as much in this version. It's still good, I just feel like it's not as energetic as some other live versions and the ghost notes are a little too loud. (I'm not dissin on Garibaldi however, he's one of my favorite drummers!) Just my two cents.

  • How could you NOT dance to this?

  • Who cares, it adds nicely into the mix of styles.

  • Man, I'd do some Locking to this any day.

Not danceable!? You need to learn how to get off your ass and onto your feet and jam to this funk!

  • @PoppinHam

I keep lookin' over my shoulder to make sure the boss isn't coming down the hallway.

got the headphones happenin' but the cloaking device is in the shop :D

  • Love them horns.....awesome

  • Wie heißt der Sänger / what's the name of the singer ?

    amazing!! (:

  • This vocalist is FUCKINGAWESOME !

  • Daaaaaamnnn these guys are some Sick Funky Dudes !!!!!!! These gost notes were orgasmik

  • Listen to the lyrics and read the title when describing this tune. It's a "Soul" tune. Funky and full of soul.

  • You can't dance to ToP? You're just not funky enough dude. "Too Jazzy" pffffft.

  • errr....they're not playin' at a dance hall, ya big dummy....It says Montreaux JAZZ Festival!

Gotta laugh when someone rags a great band because a great song is not 'danceable'.

  • The Drummer is a MONSTER!!!

  • @Pfiffer27 the drummer is david garibaldi

  • @Pfiffer27 every single one of them is a monster! this is one of the tightest bands ever.

  • @Pfiffer27

yeah, he is better than good :o)

  • @Pfiffer27

His left hand goes unnoticed, but it drives the whole song.

  • @Pfiffer27 David Garibaldi <3

  • @Pfiffer27 Garibaldi, man. The best, and I mean the BEST, funk drummer alive.

  • @Pfiffer27

    david garibaldi, pretty funky drummer

  • @Pfiffer27 Garibaldi, my friend, Garibaldi ;-)

  • @Pfiffer27 MR david garibaldi Rocks !!!

  • @Pfiffer27 the drummer, the bassist, the baritonist, the trumpeteers, the tenorists, all of 'em!

  • agree. those ghost notes carry it.

  • This Super Group Has Been around for forty years and still has that Groove That no one can duplicate. You can't fake the funk on a serious dunk Go Mimi and Doc. I've been a fan since East Bay Grease

  • those ghost-notes help to keep the funky beat alive!!

    brilliant and awesome

  • the singer fuckin kicks ass!

  • I think the audio is somewhat whack - I've heard David Garibaldi play this many times and it doesn't sound like this - I think his snare is too far up in the mix. David Garibaldi is definitely not a rock drummer, he is all about the East Bay Grease.

  • that drummers ghosting is great techincally but somehow i don't like it that much in this song here .. in some parts it just doesnt fit imo

  • the drums are great incredible

  • So sick. Can't stop bouncing my foot after listening to this...

  • Man thats some mean ghosting by the drummer!! Awesome!

  • dont like the drums in this song.....but greatest band in funk

  • I agree, the ghostnotes are much to loud, it's not funky anymore... but wonderful band indeed

  • My Favorite Band. Saw these guys in a jazz club in Seattle last year. Amazing. Best singer they've had, They play the greasiest funky grooves, with the tightest horn section in the biz. Thanks for posting anything by TOP!!!

  • If you have dragon ball z budokia 1. This sond is in there!!!! lol i just onfirmed it

  • I met these guys. Doc is the coolest, but david g. gave me his bckstage pass. He is a funk god and a super cool guy. Love me some tower

  • Comment removed

  • They honestly get better as time passes. Seen them 3 times this year, and even the worst show this year is miles ahead of where they were 3 years ago.

  • I saw them live in Paris last year, I wasn't even a fan of the band, but this song rules, and David Garibaldi was totally crazy, I'm a drummer and I was blown by his playing in some parts, he's a god

  • Yeaaahhhhhhh!!!!!

  • WOOHOO.

    FUNKY SHIT BOY.

  • i say, that Larry Braggs has a smashing voice, eh?

  • amazing!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • I love these guys! They haven't been to ATL in forever!

  • im from macon and i WANT them to come to atlanta!!!

  • Im a drummer & I love those ghostnotes sounds !! really driving stuff, so all u other idiot drummers out there who don't like this sound fuck off and go read some music books fucken shitheads !!

  • David Garibaldi! It really sounds amazing! So nice to hear it

  • seeing them in london cant wait fav song

  • I'm also going to see them in London at O2 center!!!!!!!!! Can't wait

  • the ghostnotes are too loud not too much! but garibadi is the funkiest drummer i've ever heard!!

  • wtf is the drummer doing? less ghostnotes!

  • Mike Bogart is a awsome trumpet player... He even plays the superbone really well! It was really cool meeting all them behind stage at NO Jazz Fest. Really cool guys all of them.

  • I don't like Larry Braggs's voice.IThe last lead singer was way better IMO.But Prestia kicks ass as usual:D

  • You're entitled to your own opinion, but Larry is without a doubt the BEST front man that TOP has EVER had in my opinion.

And what the hell is wrong with Garabadli's groove. Those ghost notes drive the sh1t out of this tune. Garabaldi and Rocco are the best rhythm section ever.

  • STold all off you so about the gohst notes. very bad sounding i think...

  • Pfunkay.

Easy gettin' on David Garibaldi; It's probably a mix that was too hot on the snare.

  • This shit is funky and if you don't get I'm sorry for you!!!

  • I can't believe the nit-pcking and whining! If this doesn't move ya, you're dead! Thanks, Roger Smith, for awesome B-3 work!!!

  • this is like the old fillmore west days. Nothin better!!!!!!!

  • the drummer hits the gohstnotes way to hard. its jsut like he is only playing rolls on the snare. Dont like that

  • well it is actually garibaldi so he probably knows what he's doing

  • that i didn's say, i only said that this isn't the best performance. The people who think the gohsnotes are not to hard, they arn't drummers

  • dude its not cause i DONT think the ghostnotes are to much, cause they are, but i REALLY doubt it was Garibaldi's fault, it was probably the mic or something. hes a better drummer than all of us combined.

  • not really

  • well you set up a meeting with you me and Mr. Garibaldi, and we'll see who better... I mean come on, everybody's acting so ridiculous about this.

  • Garibaldi is very good, but in this song, he made ... shit.

  • u obviously dont understand who u are talking bout... the king of funk drumming, David Garibaldi! Dennis Chambers and Dave Weckl and many more IDOL this guy. his snare was just too hot on the mic...

  • his snare just sounds this way, it has been like this for the last 10 years

  • Have to agree with you there.

ease of on the ghostnotes. Leave it to the base.

The awesome bassplayer has always done that like a dream.

  • Finall someone who grees with me. im a pro drummer and i know dave is gooed but this sounds not right to me....You ae right!!!!!!!!!!! Baseplayer is awesome. Add me please!!!! Thank you

  • did u ever think that the snare mic is too hot?...

  • I don't like this performance!

  • I cant hear the bass, and that singer does not like me at all....

  • T.O.P just funked up a ton of Koreans in Seoul yesterday; I was there and couldn't believe the crowd was singing their tunes. What a performance. After the concert ALL musicians signed autographs in a lobby filled wall to wall with local fans. That's what makes these professionals liked so much by all...they are so down to earth. God Bless T.O.P

  • The brass is pretty out of tune at some points - that's why it sounds off, but there's no denying that this is genuine 100% amazing music anyways!

  • Love Tower of Power and this song but i must say that this does not sound good at all, can't say wht but that's just my oppinion

  • SWEET SOUL MUSIC, THATS THE BEST

  • i love this band, i went to one of there concerts just yesterday. THEY ROCK!

  • They don't rock... They FUNK!!! :)

  • OH YEA THEY FUNK!!!

  • I've been listening to this band since I first saw them at the Bijou Cafe in Philadelphia in1979. They are still pumping it out 30 years later. Keep funkin!

  • what's with the tempo changing? Intentional?

  • This is a big reason why I love Tower of Power.

They have kept the Soul Music sweet with a capital S.

    Didn't go Pop at all.

Folks says well ain't Soul and Pop one and the same.

    I digress to say NO!!!

Pop= is becoming a whore for the Music Corporations.

    While

Soul=is sweet, but still Keeeping it Real!!!

Which is what Tower of Power has done!
