building fear and not knowing were the ground is creates a sense of panic the multiply this by the speed at which aeroplanes achieve flight and the levels of panic may reach breaking point at which point it could become dangerous with the numbers of people in flights mostly in the hundreds mass hysteria could quickly develop
The open blinds for take of and landing as actually from psychology aspect. Due to the nature of take of and landings not being very smooth and the fact that they are the most dangerous aspects of a flight it is essential to allow people to see what is happening. being able to see prevents inducing and increasing panic. imaging the feeling one get when riding on a swing with eyes closed!
Folks this is the most advance cockpit system, the most fuel efficient, most environmentally friendly, most lightest & yet strongest composite material composed of, most quietest, best cabin air pressure/ air purification system, and most comfortable ride for passengers in any plane ever built so far; and I'm so very proud of you, Boeing Dreamliner!!! [with love from SanFrancisco]
Now that the one who seats by the window feels he ownes it, I'm glad that the crew here has the possibility to remind him that his neighbour wishes to sleep, by simply shutting down all shades...
At 2:19, when they ask why the regulation is to have the wondow shades open, it is because in an event of crash landing, before opening the door to escape, you need to look outside for fire, debris and all those and if the shade were closed, it is very likely that it can not be opend due to the crash de deformation of the airplane body
The Windows thing is not stupid shit. If the plane has a crash landing, rescuers are able to look inside the plane to better see whats going on inside.
