The oil embargo, along with the freezing of Japanese assets in the US, didn't happen until 1941. Japan had been fighting off and on in China since 1931 and launched a full-scale war in 1937.

If you think we're trying to force Christianity in the Middle East, I'd suggest picking up a newspaper. We're doing no such thing.

US was cutting their oil supply to Japan so they had to attack to PH and try to destroy US Pacific navy, then force America to peace by conquering their islands in Pacidic and probably even western coast.
