  • Dante Gabriel Rossetti?

  • Quit being so critical you guys...this was an English project...give the guy a break...i thought it was great.

  • Don't even try to attempt this! Love the video.

  • Did you get an A?

  • This is wonderful!! Great job! :D

  • I was going to say things that where also stuck up and lady of shallot, poetry puritan like, but when I saw this was for a high school project, I thought wow well done, very creative and good on you for reading tennyson and most guys wouldnt go for lady of shallot so that says something good about you.. so A+ for effort and attempt, its not your fault you dont have an english accent and are not a shakespearean actor! I memorized the poem, so I know it off by heart and its very special to me!

  • When poetry is read it should evoke emotions in not only the reader but those listening. You must read and pay attention to lines, breaks, pauses, and other literary devices. You are reading it like it is stereo installation instructions.

  • i love the end lol

  • great job* Hope you got an A+

  • 2:58 2:58 2:58 keep clicking haha :)

  • This made my day, lol.

  • Wow. Ya know...like, ...they like... probably even...ya know like... got a passing grade like...even..ya know. Wow.

  • i want the name of the first song ..the girl sings..can you help me ? thank you !

  • @emanuelabutnaru Its Ask the Mountains by Vangelis with Stina Nordenstam singing from the album Voices.

  • Standuffish - dude are you clueless?Parrty On!

  • Maybe your teacher should have asked you to listen to Loreena Mckennit's single and feel the words and the tone before you change a powerful poem full of feelings and sorrow to an emotionless and cold comedy video. 4 years too late to advise though.

  • @GreenRover232 I actually enjoyed this video more I can understand what he is saying while reading a poem rather than singing it perhaps a little more feeling would not hurt

  • i love the humour in this.

  • The video is good, but the reading is TERRIBLE!! There is so much feeling in 'The Lady of Shalott', but this reading rips all feeling from the beauty of this poem.

  • they should have played pink floyd with the video

  • Oh come on, you guys, the whole point of this production is that they are NOT taking it seriously! That's what makes it hilarious! Too many dramatic readings I've heard of this have been stuffy and boring. This was not in the least bit dramatic, but it sure made me laugh :-)

  • HAHAHAAHAHA! The American accent...just kills this beautiful piece....no offence.

  • LMAO at Monty Python!!!!! :D

  • What have you done to the lady of shalot?!? There's german 10 year olds at my school that can do better than that!

  • 2:57, realy? Why?!?

  • that dont have emotion. I mean even byakuya from bleach has more emotion in his voice!! but the clips are great btw :)

  • don't expect your reading of this great poem to be taken seriously if you are going to stick Monty Python outtakes into it

  • I really loved this and i actually liked the voiceover :D

  • It sounds like computer voice over to me. Or the yellow pages... How distasteful!

  • I like the Lady of Shallot, its a nice calming rhyme, and i really know nothing about reciting poems. But at my school (in year 8) we have to sing this and to be honest we sound better than you.

  • pathetic! Was it a video project or an literary project? A perfect example of techno wizardry trying to make up for lame reading. Please, please, listen to someone who knows how to speak. The rhythms and rhymes aren't nursery songs. Linger on words of importance, read according to punctuation (short pauses at commas, none where there are none, even at the break of a line, long pauses at periods and semi colons.)

  • images and song are true,

narration missing a brain or two,

nice try but you've failed too.

    THE LADY OF SHALOTT.

  • @TheBaconlaser O! not for wont of wit this be,

    But human heart and energy,

    Made dull they Monty? Villainy,

Get thee hence, heathen, from Shalott!

(I agreed with your assessment of the reading, I suppose...) ;)

  • @TheBaconlaser Agreed. Listen to Loreena Mckennit's version. You will not be dissapointed.

  • the voice. you man... you have a COLD!!!

  • This was just lovely, and I love the song by Loreena McKennitt and as well I like how you put my fav. old Camelot movie.

  • Woah, when it says, "im half sick of shadows" it jerked my attention... cuz i was looking for anything else to watch. Jeeze, thats some lifeless reading. Love the video though.

  • Tennyson would turn in his grave, the readers do not understand the words.

  • plzzz will someone tell me the name of the song dat plays rite at the beginning...ive been looking for it for ages... !!!

  • @nezdedumdum yes, please! i love the song at the beginning!

though, other than that. this sucked. no offense, but you read with absolutely NO passion AT ALL. thx for ruining a great epic poem. this is like reading homer in an ugly americans episode. it's just WRONG.

  • I personally love this poem, I think you did a great job in reading it.

  • good grief are you late for an appointment of something? Couldn't listen to the whole thing, shame to ruin such such a beautiful poem. Sorry but this is God awful.

  • no passion at all..

  • no passion at all..

  • Please read this wonderful poem a little bit more slowly.......voice ok.....but slow it down.....

  • LOL

  • I'm sorry, but This is the absolute WORST rendition of this poem I have ever heard in my entire life!!!!!

Seriously. It does the poem a disgrace when it is vocalized in such a careless, non-chalant voice.

Where's the EMOTION??? where's the EMPHASIS??? where's the poets voice inside of you???

  • You could do with a little intonation... or sentence weaving. I like the video though, adds to the poem :D

  • Oh, how I wish Amricans would not try to read poetry ! Butcher is a good word for you !

  • the commentary at the end is kind of funny

  • i am in speech and i did my poetry over this poem. the program included this poem and the song of the sparrow by Lisa Ann Sandell....it was awesome and this poem is AWESOME!!!!

  • I love this poem.... especially Loreena Mckennitt's version... :)

the use of Monty Python is great!! ingenious :D

but the reading... well you probably didn't feel too thrilled about the project, but since the video is so great, it's a bit of a shame the reading was a little unenthusiastic... :(

but the video is lovely... Galadriel as the Lady of Shalott, I love ^^ it's like all my favorite things put together... the poem, LotR, Monty Python...

  • I actully enjoy this reading very much. Keep in mind, this was for HIGH SCHOOL class. The visuals were very complementory of the actual poem, and although the poem was read lifelessly, the voice reading kept a very nice pase and spoke clearly. This is a morbid poem, and she DIES at the end, so the lifelessness, in my opinion adds a very VERY nice touch. And the Monty Python, it kept my class attentive to the poem.

  • Well, at least the photography is great. What's with these guys' teacher? Sing song sing song sing song. da da da DA da da DA (I've heard little kids do Mother Goose Rhymes better than this!)

  • the poem is great and love the monty python thing. who sings the helium like song? it is great!

  • funny ;]

  • Haha, I seriously love this video. True, the reading could have been better, but the video seriously is wonderful. I know not everyone is an English nerd like I am, so I don't blame you for the lack of enthusiasm in your reading. =P

  • wow, that was harsh!!!

  • I didn't mean for it to be harsh. I just figure that they probably weren't too thrilled to have to do the project, and as some other people have said you can sort of hear in their voices that they're not that into it. Just because I love English doesn't mean I think less of anyone who isn't crazy about it like I am. =)

  • Its a shame, its a wonderful poem but this gentleman cannot read...

  • Agree with this. It would help if he read it a bit more slowly.

  • YES it would, plus his his acent is atrocious!

  • It amazing what computers can do these days, poetry as well. It's read like "The Raven"

  • camelot? Camelot!

  • That has to be the most LIFELESS reading I ever heard in my life!!!!

    You.... BUTCHER you...

  • whta with the video? monty python and lord of the rings. great conection!!!!

  • does it matter if it is not your culture ? the more you learn about different culutures the better :)

  • typo haha * culture

  • I'm a high school student, and I love this poem, despite the fact that it's missing 'sex, violence blood and/or humor.' Funny how that works, huh?

  • ...

    it does have sex

    it does have blood

    and this video has humour

and the poem has a certain amount of irony too.

    so that's 3 out of 4.

  • any1 got cliffs notes for this poem

  • The Lady of Shalott is imprisoned on a small island in the river upstream from Camelot. She is under a curse which forbids her to look at anything but her weaving or a mirror which reflects the world outside. So, she sings and weaves until one day, she sees Lancelot in her mirror. She leaves her loom to gaze upon him, and brings down the curse upon her. Before she dies, she gets in a boat, writes her name on the prow, and floats singing down into Camelot, arriving dead. Hope this helps, "Cliff"

  • sad story

  • shame americans cannot read

  • The mixture with Monty Python a.s.o. is OK and funny. I talk about the kind of reading it (too fast and monotone). It sounds as a fast reading competition.

  • Great complementary video, but your reading is a little rushed and not enough enunciated.

  • How dare you to destroy this wonderful poem ?

  • it is a wonderful poem, but to add humor to it for Highschool is simply acceptable. Highschool students don't pay attention unless there is blood, sex, violence, and/or humor.

  • I applaud the use of Monty Python.

  • very good. it was useful for my homework thanks :)

  • Well, that was very entertaining in both comedy and emotion. Poetry a little scratchy in the reading, but I still enjoied this emensely. I give u an A and 4 stars.

  • Hilarious. Loved it.

  • u cud hav sed this poem so much bttr....

  • Yes, lighten up everyone. This is one of my favorite poems, but I think what they did with it is hilarious even so!!! It made me LOL.

Those of you that want to be serious about it check out Loreena McKennit's version, where she has put the words to music.

  • This was a high school English project, by some guys who don't like English. Of course they sound bored and monotone.

  • will you all calm the fuck down, if you guys are not retarded and can read..........i will give ya'll the benefit of the doubt....it said that it was an english project. it could be a joke for all we know so shut the fuck up. its annoying as all hell. its probably a joke.

  • Reading it like a shopping list - is that meant to be part of the joke?

    Sabaoth77

''You have to understand the celtic culture to read the poem properly. ''

It wasn't written by a Celt. Doh!

  • the guy reading sucks. He's ruined the poem

  • Even on helium.

  • Whatever you're doing to it, this is fab, still love it.

  • But your killing it

  • oh god, this is ruining the poem for me :(

  • He sounds like he's reading the grocery shopping list. I cannot listen to this. :(

They should teach how to read poems and ballads in school again.

  • american accent huh... not good for poem readin...

  • I agree, it sounds like an american science-fiction... The Lady of Shalott is a beautiful legend and I don't like the way you've done the clip at all. You have to understand the celtic culture to read the poem properly.

  • wow ... all of you are so frickin mean. so just because someone's not great at something they shoulden't do it at all?

  • i'm not mean, i'm sayin the accent is not fit for this poem. plus the intonation.

like someone just said, it feels "like he's reading the grocery shopping list"

  • this sounds so bad, try next time

  • Please next time you read a poem put some emotion into it. this is terrible monotone.

  • Please....no repeats of these readers...amateurs all!!!

  • wow ... all of you are so frickin mean. so just because someone's not great at something they shoulden't do it at all?

  • terrible..

  • goodness... I have to say: the reading of the poem is terrible. It's not a computer program, it's a poem and a story that is to be told. Eesh.

  • Comment removed

  • he sounds so fucking bored xD

  • is this your version of the poem? i have memorized the poem and some of what you say isnt in the real poem.

  • great, i like your voice. (is it your voice or another one?)

  • rubbish reader.

    Good clips

  • haha i love the combo of monty pytjon and lord of the rings!! they're totally my absolute favorute movies ever.

  • OMG!

have to memorise half of the poem for school homework!!!!!!

  • a história é maravilhoooosa

  • emotionless, and horrific reading...mixed with Monty Python?.blasphamy to both Python and Tennyson

  • Lovely video, but the rendition of the poem is rushed.

  • Love it!

  • yes, please do. the voice is awful!

  • I must agree, this is a great video, the clips from Monty Python are brilliant, i would love to show this to my students and fellow professor, but the way it is read, the voice, the lack of emphasis and rhythem, the way it is rushed, the lack of passion and feeling, is awful. I just can't get over it. Please, please redo it with better voice over!

  • Agree completely!

  • Yep, quite right. The reader just can't be bothered - a shame

  • I like his voice. The words are clear too.

  • @aln29540 I have heard much worse reading

  • loll

  • very funny inserts with the Monty Python bits, and Shalott's Lady's voice!

  • Monty Python. xD I'm sorry, I look at any clip from that movie without laughing.

  • *can't

  • you got this poem in theatre version 2 xD

  • Except for the way it is being red -No offense- Its nicely done

  • credits are ledgend!

  • my english teacher made us watch this, loads better than writing though

  • I think it's realy good and I don't think the narration is that bad.

    Anyway the pictures fit

  • Loreena est une déesse !!

  • What do you mean by Loreena is a disease?

  • déesse means goddess

  • Except that the poem is read devoid of any passion or heart, the piece was well made.

    ;-D

  • Its funny, and I dont think people need to take it so seriously, but the voice could use some work, but I can cut you some slack as you arent trained in that.

  • A LITTLE more passion? Could this be more wooden? Sounds like a really bad grade school reading. Very disappointing as I was hoping to hear the golden voice of Loreena McKennitt and get this dweeb instead.

  • it's really nice, and the voicing was decent, but just a little more passion would have been nice.

still, glad for your project on this poem.

  • I think you did a great job! Your teacher must have given you a good grade on this project! But honestly, I prefer the version sung by Loreena McKennitt.

  • god wtf... this is horrid. I get a sence of no respect.

  • wow i think you did a good job.

  • mrs williams made us watch this in english....better then the gay video i made for that class

  • great video, but the reading needs a little more passion for the story being told,

  • wow u gyz fuggin rule!!! will u marry me??? hehe.

  • nice

  • cool one, dudes =)

  • how boring we watched it in our english lesson i almost fell asleep

  • it's boring allright..you are right

  • wow! that was amazing!

  • This was BLOODY BRILLIANT!!!! Though I'm not sure how Tennyson would feel about having his poems in any way connected to Monty Python.... hmmmmmm. Brilliant anyway, thankfully he's dead!

  • Oh my!!! Am I the only one to think this is fall-asleep-on-the-keyboard material ?? The loreena mckinnitt's version is far better.

  • haha that is impressive! good video guys!

  • i hav to compare this poem AND another long one together!!

  • thx didnt want to read the poem again im writing a review damn school grrr 9:<

  • omg im doing an english project... sigh this helps

  • OMG GO KING ARTHUR BEST mOVIE EVER LANCELOT IS SOOO HOT IN THAT MOVIE!!! I can see why she went suicidal over him o.0 lol

  • I am memorizing this poem for my poetry class, and this is just awesome!!!

  • awesome! check mine out that I had to do for my project

  • I love it

    Thank you!!!

  • i love the poem so much

  • you did a good job but you need to slow down!!

  • this poem is full of imagery, and this video helps a lot. it could help readers of the poem perceive its imagery more clearly.a combination of voice and movie make the litery work more appealing.

  • Shalot is also known as Avalon

  • beautiful.but the poem could have had more passion.

  • On Second Thoughts, Lets Not Go To Camelot, It Is A Silly Place, hahahahaha, thats crack up, lol

  • i did this in skwl 2day and i am in primary school we had to write a summary and a gloassary for all of the chapters and illustrations lol great video must of took u AGES to put together!

  • I love your video!

  • Nice helium voices...

  • What are you reading?

  • I know now. The Lady of Shalott..

  • OMG! I like it very much!!!! :D Congratulations! :D

  • omg we where doing this at school its realy complicated:

Its about this woman which was put on an island (no reason)and always weaves and weaves and shes fed up and shes had a past realtionship with lance alot and she fell in love with him

so she tries to get on the boat and run away but she has curse... and she dies... thats not all of it lol if u wanna know full info pm me

  • Isn't shalot spelled shalott? O.o;;

    Anyway, good job!

  • The monty python was classic. I didn't expect it, and it seems to modernize the poem a bit, haha.

  • im sorry but twas meant to be read out by and english person, thats how the poem sounds best

  • especially considering you're a high school boy (and having just graduated, experience has led me to expect very little from your species) I am most highly impressed. This is one of my favorite poems, and you did the entire thing with beautiful clips and managed to pronounce everything right (except bower- you said it boh-er, the bow is said like "wow") & though some might think it monotonous, you're not an actor & you did most wonderfully. I love it.

  • I love this poem, but it does sound very....monotone...still great video, I love your clips from Monty Python!

  • can sb send me the text of this poem? i'm not english, so the speaker in the video speaks too fast for me. so if sb could send it to me, i would be very happy! :)

oh, & the video is great! beautiful...

  • I love this poem! and excellent collage of videos!
