  • I was the king of this game at the local arcade. I spent a small fortune on it.

  • Which computer is the game written for?

  • @szipucsu The ARCADE, but it was played using a M.A.M.E. Emulator (to read the Arcade Rom) on a PC.

  • Is this the arcade version?

  • loved this game. looks a little diffrent to the arcade game i played in the uk circa 1989. "dont leave, dont leave" the little guys used to call if they thought you was going to leave them. hell yeah they were the days no digady no doubt.

  • It is the Arcade Patsy. I used a M.A.M.E. (Multiple Arcade Machine Emmulator) and a shareware version of F.R.A.P.S which is why there was no game sounds, and rather than place a video of the game without sound i added in the soundtrack in editing. Yeah the guys when you flew over head would hollar "help me", and if you got a full load they would yell "dont leave". You hate leaving people behind, but when you dont have room, you dont have room.

  • @LordBicen your 100% correct freind. just looks a little diffrent. but then again it was a long time ago an ive seen so many diffrent choplifters today on youtube. but this looks most like the arcade game i rember. maybe because im from the uk an your from the states? is their a level where you go inside a cave and have these like fire ball things? thanks again and greetings from london. im off to try find boble buble now you got me on a old school arcade vibe. love to play that again some day.

  • Yes. The Cave is level 3. I haven't gotten passed that level yet, not even when i played it back in the day at Aladin's Castle. Stage 2 with the submarines and ships with their rockets are a difficult obsticle to pass by unscathed like you can in the desert in stage 1. Yep i'm in the states.

  • How come you didn't die from the clear mid-air collision with the fighter jet at 0.45 seconds of the video?

Thank god you didn't cuz you had a whole bunch of people on board. One of them was my dad.

  • lol funny. With old arcade games like that they would glitch on occasion, I.E. running through a ghost on pac-man/ms. Pac-man ect. it happened, and you were glad it did else it cost you another quarter. This has not been edited, touched up from the filming of the game aspect, save the soundtrack, nor were any cheats of any kind used.

  • Dude all of those old systems were shit systems. who cares about colors. What you should be concerned with is bits. the 52 was one of the very first 8 bit systems. it was a good advance but they failed on the controllers. they were too fragile and difficult to use. Nes and Sms were the later 8 bit editions and they had better graphics, and better cpu's but they had about 3 years on the 5200.

  • Thats a good prediction... You could always just go hunt a Sega Master System Emulator and find the rom if someone has it. some of those oldies are hard to get/find/locate and could be impossible due to liscensing issues. but it depends on you and how bad your willing to hunt.

  • It takes some practice (and a pocket full of quarters) to get used to the controlls. When i was a kid i could barly make it back to base with one load of people let alone finishing stage one before getting shot down (Usually by some Gay Bullshit with a fighter sooting at me from off screen) or crashing into one of the satelites. the trick is to stay about 35% up the screen and taking out all the gun/missle emplacements. they can catch you napping if your not careful.

  • Once all surface contacts are neutralized, all you have to deal with is the jets, jeeps, satelites and missle trucks (like thats not enough to contend with) but it makes travel from behind enemy lines to the basecamp easier. Dont be afraid to set down once or twice when a swarm of fighters show up. You are in a chopper, after all, not really suited to take out jets. Just be aware of the jeeps and tanks. While slow, they can still make a mess of ya.

  • Sega master system? Only Slightly better than the Atari 5200, with better controls.

Graphics werent as sharp as the arcade version.

Limited supply of Fuel adds to the dificulty.

Arcades top score was higher than 50k dude.

Each to their own i guess. I prefer a challenge though.

  • Yeah they should have. But then again theres always M.A.M.E.

  • Cool vid and music. I pumped a small fortune of quarters into this game. Loved the arcade version. Never played the home version.

  • great music...I'm serious.

  • Glad you like it. My video Capture Device was a shareware version and it didnt enable the sound, so i figured i'd deliver an appropriate track, so you wouldn't have to listen to Silence.

    Thanks for the post.

  • You cant go wrong with Airwolf given your circumstance, that was a choice pick. Excellent.

  • Ah such a cool little game.

Shame there was never a Megadrive/Genesis version.

  • i have this game how do you get the airwolf music to play

  • um, it's a Feature i added into my editing. It seemed appropriate with a perfect run.

  • Wow. Thanks very much for posting this. After 20 odd years....nothing's changed

  • Were you saying to wearn that his pacman YouTube version was more playable , in some way, than an Atari 2600?How is it more playable ?How is wearn's pacman version a far cry from the arcade version?

  • In reference to which video? i have seen alot of Videos and it's kind of hard to recall which one your refering to.

  • Where can a Pacman ( original version) be found to play?I used to play Pacman in the early '80's on a coffee table ( is that also called a console?).

Is the original ( that you referred to in wearn's Pacman video) version of Pacman available in CD etc for computers?Or is it only available in the original arcade machines? In the early'80s I used to get free games by poking a wire in a hole near the coin deposit slot... until an A' hole Aussie backpacker told the manager.

  • Well, Aside from someone telling you where to get the M.A.M.E. Rom from i cant help you. Some time ago Bally-Midway MFG made distribution of it and other games contraband and it's not available on the main rom sites. Other than finding someone that has it and is willing to hook you up with it i dont know where else you could get it.

  • Where do I download this song?

  • Try Bearshare, or Limewire. i got it off of limewire but im sure bearshare has it too.

  • Cool. Yeah this was the game that made me decide to get the Sega Master System instead of the NES. Because of the SMS version. One thing missing from the home version was being able to have some of the hostages parachute out if your chopper got hit.

  • Definitely an improvement on the C64 :) The extra detail gives it a new dimension (LOL, a third dimension for starters).

  • Well thats the Arcade version of Choplifter by sega 1985. it's one of those old 80's classics. Thanks for the feedback, mate.

  • Pretty d@mn good flying there, never did manage that version of Choplifter.

  • Thanks. yeah the arcade version of this used to own me back in the day, i dont know how many thousands of quarters i spent in this machine just trying to get through the first level. it was a pain in the but, but i learned that the quicker you take out the emplacements between the hostage buildings the easier it is considering you only have the planes, jeeps and satalites to deal with.

  • LoL great job there, classic!

  • Thanks for the Positive feed back. It's Much Apreciated.

  • Not to offend you Darth for removing your comment, but this is a forum for games and in particular, Choplifter. There's enough Political forums out there to accommodate you for that, so lets stay on topic here.

  • You shall feel the wrath of the empire in a future near you soon.. Rebel scum!

  • umm, oooook. whatever dude. Dont forget to bring your tinfoil hat with you too. ;-)

  • Hah, tin is for wuzzie :)

  • Oh thats right! I forgot about the Titanium fad going around...
