  • does the man in video is author of song he play?

  • if that guy played a bass guitar he would show every bass player how its really done :)

  • this is so crazy... can someone tell me the time signature for this?

  • @juangodfrid its in teen taal...16 beats....so i guess...regular 4/4 timing

  • Amazing sound , kick ass drumming too !

  • Do you have a mizraab / sitar pick on first and index or only the first finger ?

  • this make me thing about the act 2 in diablo 2 XD

  • Reading some of these comments. Im a guitar player and I think that the Sitar is an amazing instrument which comes from a beautiful culture in the most part. It goes well in Psychedelic music.

  • Such a Generic song ha!

  • makes me wanna smoke weed

  • Jeez, if we just incorporated actually interesting instruments like sitars, dumbeks, koto (Zithers), frigg, I couldn't name all the amazing and "Unusual" instruments out there, into what we call "Modern" music it probably wouldn't be nearly as crappy as it currently is. You can only do so much with a guitar, small drum set, bass guitar, and an annoying ass vocalist until it becomes stale. This, actually takes skill to pull off, which is probably why no one in the states plays these.

  • @Hykazu I'm sorry but you really are a fool. Why would you assume Americans wouldn't be able to play a sitar? American has more nobel prize winner than any other country by far, dominates in physics, engineering, basically anything to do with anything intellectual.

  • @lulliloo99

So what is the last american band you listened to with citars, koto, zithers, hurdy gurdy, nyckelharpa, mbila, or other instruments?

P.S. before you start going on about how great america is, try having better grammar, it's painful enough knowing we're 46th or so in education, but seeing it in action hurts even more.

  • @Hykazu the last american band that i know of was OM :)

  • @lulliloo99 Come on dude... Einstein immigrated there. Many German scientists went there to escape Nazi Germany. Just stop with the whole 'one country is better than another' bullshit. The US also has more people incarcerated for every crime except one compared to the Western world (only Russia incarcerates more for burglary). Sending the most people to prison is not an achievement to be proud of. be proud of who you are, but you didn't influence the country before you were born.

  • Beautiful.

  • it's not a solo

  • @faustmusician its just him isnt it?

  • that does not look like fun to tune or replace strings...

  • does ny1 no who the tabla player is???

  • @Vin3z he is mr. kaushal kant from jaipur , who also a great kathak dancer, and inhales from the family of musicians and dancers

  • How the eff do you tune a sitar? Or do you not at all? That's one of my many confusions about such an instrument.

  • @JanelexMystique it is EXTREMLY hard to tune a sitar. depending on the raag ur playing, is how it would be tuned.

cliponutube playing in 'odd timing' shows that these artest have mastersd the laya or spped/ rythem that they play ( in this case teen taal). playing like this creats a certain fell that only those who understand classical music can comprehend and truely enjoy.

  • this song makes me wanna drop a few hits of LSD and completely bug out whilst listening to this......BUT--Does anyone else think the guy playing the tabla ISNT really playing it?Just watch his movements, they DONT correspond to what the beat is

  • @shroomser1 no that would be a stupid thing to think

  • i think they play in odd timings, their music theory is really interesting

  • @shroomser1 they do.. u cant make it out cuz of so many fingers involved.. but when these is this distinct "dhum" his wrist bangs on it.. just see it carefully..

  • soul eruption...

  • esto es muyyyy muyyy flasherooo es un instrumento muy alusinojeno jajaja

  • Imange this guy on guitar bass. :D

  • @GoldenBucket1337 Awesome !

  • I think this guy starved 3 nights before playing this Sitar..Look how unclear and thin his strockings are..Or I think his Sitar badly needs a 'Jwari.'(polishing the bridge for more sound)..I think in youtube the young talents like Niladri, Ranjan Maharaj, and Rohan Dasgupta are far more better Sitar performers than him.

  • no lalakakao, his strocks are more or less clear but very "weak strockes".....And besides you are right, his Sitar badly needs a Jwaree...He has an uneven Jwaree - see at the time of jhala his main string has less volume than his other strings.

  • Yeah, awesome playing, thoroughly enjoyed it, but sir.. your shirt.. (aren't u a little too old for that?)

  • none of them are even wearing shirts, silly goofball!!Lol...their clothes are obviously Indian in descent, and made for theplaying of the sitar....but you wouldnt know that cuz you're obviously ignorant

  • @mulamoodan nah youre just stupid, thats traditional clothing

  • whoaaaaa

  • wow:D nice

  • Wow, this was pretty sweet. These guys seem to be masters of their instruments. This music was like a projection of themselves only learned after a lifetime of playing. COOOL.

  • im indian and i really like the sitar cause the sound is very soothing and its just awsome.

  • same here im half goan and i play sitar, just love it

  • not being mean......but what does you being indian have to do with anything?? lol.....these instruments are middle eastern xD

  • yea the middle eastern culture is really going great dont you think? (SARKASM!)

  • hey, i play the guitar and bass and i was wondering, is the sitar hard to learn?

  • not really i got one its fun as hell

  • im a guitarist.... now i want to get a sitar lol

  • sitar is the best instrument

  • how do you actually play the sitar? is it just like a playing guitar but it sounds trippier and has like a million strings?

  • One string is usually bent at a time, played solo, the other strings are just used as overtones - one continuous chord, strummed.

Its quite hard on the fingers, since you are pressing quite hard on the metal strings to bend the notes down.

Its more about the rythym and feeling (by bending the notes and changes of speed) rather than the chord changes, i just got one the other day and its great i picked it up and started playing in no time, i play guitar and erhu its kind of like a combi of both

  • it shreds the crap out of your middle finger

  • hahahahahahahaha

  • how many notes are on a regular sitar....

  • they guy on the tablas is really good too

  • why would someone give this a thumbsdown? lol

  • i think most people on youtube are fucking stupid

  • i think i agree with you.

  • sooo trippy...

  • wa wa kiha bade he Khoshal Bahee

    maza aiga.

  • i feel like im back in the 60's

  • sitar rules. i think it actually came into use a long time before guitar too...

  • MAN sitar is 1000x better than guitar

  • Yeah I regret buying a guitar when I was a pre teen. Should have chosen the sitar but I found out about it late.

  • The ol' man is ¤&/""#%'n AWSOME! 8D

  • that would be badass if it had emg's haha

  • hahahah

  • sitar sounds better than guitar

  • @7malmusk No instrument sounds better than another, I could easily say guitar is better cause it has the least limitations for range of all instruments.

  • @7malmusk depends on what kind of music imo..

  • does that thing really sound like it has 1 string? it has more than a guitar

  • It has (most times) more than 20. Some strings are the strings that you fret and push down on. Others are bass strings which I think that you would just strum open.

  • sitar has 17 or more strings depending on which one you get. and this instrument in fact isnt a "knock-off" of a guitar. It came from a totally different culture.

  • @queenofyou1 yer let me add for all the people that say that the sitar is a knock off of the guitar well they are totaly wrong infact the guitar was developed form the sitar because the sitar was the first form of guitar

  • @queenofyou1 Perhaps the precursor to the guitar?

  • @VioletAnarchist totes

  • LMFAO

  • Beautiful! I am studying Indian music, and right now I am studying for a test. This sitar is beautiful! I notice, the sitar is much more strumm-y and resonant in comparison to the tanpura. Very beautiful playing! Thank you for this video.

  • 5*, of course

  • haha. 3:17-3:27 was cool. They both looked at eachother and acknowledged the awsomeenss

  • not so hard to play as it is to tune... if you have a low quality sitar like mine its really a pain in the ass...

  • man, the sitar has such a relaxing sound

  • This shit is fucking awesome, I love the new age bands that incorporate this into their music.

  • You mean like Thievery Corporation?

  • wow! I didn't realize there was so much space between the curved frets and the neck! And there's actually a big groove in the middle of the neck... what a beautiful instrument!!!

  • moving through a multi tier layered of consciousness my warmth smiles, carried high upon the wings of tranquil melody. Still expansion, constant motion, freedom.

It is beauty as life is a symphony

  • Yay for microtones!

  • looks hard to play

  • Awesome splendiness or Splendid Awesomness?

  • theres a few videos on tuning it.

  • Awesome, but how long does it take to tune that bitch?

  • from what ive seen...a long time.

  • the sitar is just one of those instruments with a somewhat hypnotizing or tranquilizing sound

  • amazing. pure awesomeness.

    XD

  • u mean concentrated essence of awesomeness

  • yes. exactly.

  • 1 word:

    WOW
