I wish I could have gotten their autographs & taken pictures somehow. I did get a souvenir CW t-shirt, a CW magnet & a CW program guide. I hope that if I ever get the chance to see them onstage again that I'll get a meet-and-greet pass.
They sang: "Danny Boy", "Amazing Grace", "Dulaman", & "Mo Ghile Mear". In addition to the Believe numbers she played on her fiddle on tv Mairead also played "Granuaile's Dance". She didn't play the Ceili playout at the end of the concert. There was a solo drum performance by the guy with the ponytail(don't know his name) & a bagpiper solo as well. Those 2 were fillers during the times when the girls had to change clothes. It was the best time of my life!!!! It took forever to get home though.
I went to their concert at the Patriot Center last night & it was great!!!! I was seated on the floor level about 4 rows away from the stage. They had a different tap dancer, only one bagpiper, 5 or 6 chorus members & no children's choir. For the most part Susan did a fantastic job. They didn't sing every song from the "Believe" show on tv. They didn't sing "Bridge Over Troubled Water" or "Smile". They also didn't sing "Tears In Heaven". They did sing a few songs from their earlier concerts.
At the end I think its Lisa Kelly. Lisa Lambe sings the low parts to this song but her voice is so powerful that she can be heard the whole time. Its partiularly noticable on the cd.
i love lisa lambe, towards the end of the song when everyone joins in to sing and the bagpipes you can always here here sing!!!! her voice is so distinct
@LDC454 Saw them last night in Charleston and I gotta say that Susan McFadden can SING!!! Hope she stays on when Lisa returns and makes CW a singing foursome again.
Anyone else get goosebumps when the bagpipes come in?! I love this song, both Celtic Woman singing and The High Kings it. My two very favorite groups!!
"Way to copy the high kings"?...by...performing a song that is over 400 years old? Did you see Celtic Woman did Nil Se'n La? Totally ripped Clannad off...
@bdsouleful Ripped-off Clannad?? Are you kidding? The Celtic Woman version of Nil Se'n La is *very* much different than the Clannad version (especially with the Celtic Woman version having portions done in English and in a different more upbeat style). As for "Parting Glass", its form here is very similar to that of the High Kings 2008 live version, but that is probably because David Downes was music director for both groups.
@carrierox1031 The similarity is not at all surprising, as Celtic Woman's co-creator and music producer David Downes was music producer for the High Kings on their CD and DVD (Live In Dublin). Looks like Downes just took the format he had for the High Kings version and adapted it for this concert. In any case, it is a spectacular performance which I hope they use on their Believe Tour this year.
@Kierfnen Uh, the bagpipe people are playing the bagpipes. They are in about three of the 21 songs on the DVD. There is also one person playing the Uilleann pipes (Irish Bagpipe) on a few of the songs, but that is not a Scottish Great Highland Bagpipe like the others play in this song.
Die Damen von Celtic woman beweisen mit dem Song wie immer Ihre Perfektion der Präsentation eines Liedes - bis auf den grauenhaften Fetzen von Kleid von Mairéad - musikalisch sind die vier einsame Spitze
The one that plays the fiddle/violin (don't be offended, I'm bad at knowing the difference between instruments) always reminds me of a fairy. I know, I'm too old to believe in fairies, just what she wears, and the way she dances around and never speaks... makes me think of a fairy. :)
@amyjane365 No offense taken, but the violin and fiddle are the same instrument, just played differently. A skilled player, like Mairead is, uses the same instrument, a 300 year old violin, for all of her songs, from bluegrass to classical and everything in between.
And yes Tinkerbell, excuse me, Mairead, is like a fairy.
@coolrogue5827 Well I just looked up the Patriot Center website & still cameras are not allowed there, which sucks because now I can't get any pictures of them for my photo album.
Fantastic! My DVD came in from PBS and I see myself and others with me in scenes of the closing credits--just beyond the footage here! ..Not that it would have added to the appeal of this video! LOL!
The Celtic Women did it again... I keep fearing that they will run out of talent, shame on me, or wonderful songs, shame again. <3 XOXO to Celtic Woman and crew.
Wedding... Funeral... Either one. I definitely want them to be played at one if not both. They are truly my favorite music group. Hope I get to see them when they come to my town.
@214tavo Celtic Woman tickets generally cost in the $40 - $80 range and are available from a variety of outlets - Ticketmaster, StubHub, ebay, and your local PBS station among them, as well as the venue itself. PBS tickets frequently cost more (they include a contribution to PBS) but they often (not always) are the best seats. If you want M &G (Meet and Greet) tickets, they cost more and you almost always have to get them through PBS.
@misteredtom So if you're a woman do you have to wear a dress, no sweatclothes? My brother gave me a ticket to see Celtic Woman in March 2012 at the Patriot Center(hopefully Lisa Kelly will be back with them by then). I have no idea what the dress code for these concerts is. What exactly is considered nice but not formal?
sorry, but it was posted on the celtic woman website that she's out for the 2012 believe tour. I hope she'll beck for the 2013 tours. She wants to come but I don't think a newborn on a tour isn't a good idea.
@Lizfan2 You can wear pretty much whatever you feel like wearing, as most people do not dress up formally for a Celtic Woman concert (a few in the front few rows do). Some women wear dresses, while others don't, as it is considered "casual". As long as it isn't terribly trashy and you feel comfortable with it, go ahead and wear what you like. Also, Lisa Kelly will not be in this tour due to her maternity leave (Susan McFadden will take her place this time and she is GREAT!).
@misteredtom Also, I know you're not allowed to videotape the concerts, but are you allowed to take pictures? I'd really like to get pictures to put in my photo album but unfortunately the ticket my brother gave me for Christmas doesn't include a meet & greet. Is there any possible way to get pictures at the upcoming concert that won't get me kicked out or my camera taken away?
I prefer The High Kings rendition. Though it's basically the same thing (David Down's arranged both), it's richer and more powerful with male voices. MHO. :)
@cctc11891 They do sing an a capella song in Believe! The song is Smile. Unfortunately, it was cut from the PBS airing. But it'll be on the dvd and the Deluxe cd will feature it as a Bonus live track.
@cctc11891 They have done a number of songs in-concert acappella (Danny Boy, Over the Rainbow, etc.), as well as a few with just one instrument (Mairead's violin for example with Danny Boy last year during the Songs From The Heart tour).
@ddthienvuong A man on his deathbed is asking his comrades and family not to mourn for him, he's had a life rich in friends and ladies. Instead he asks for all to fill a 'parting' glass and drink to health and joy be to you all...
My Sweetheart and I were in the audience that night, and I have to say that the entire concert was beyond amazing. It was spine tingling to experience 19 bagpipers performing all at once on a couple of numbers. We will be seeing them again and will be at the meet-and-greet after the concert in February. This will be the first meet-and-greet I've taken my Baby to, and our 3rd CW concert together. I was at one prior to meeting her and had the distinct pleasure of kissing Mairead's hand.

Parting Glass – a bitter sweet goodbye
The lyrics of The Parting Glass date back at least 400 years to the early 17th century – probably before even that.

@55432ybi Oh, all the money e'er I had, I spent it in good company
And ll the harm I've ever done, alas it was to none but me
And all I've done for want of with to memory now I can't recall
So fill to me the parting gla*s, goodnight and joy be to you all
Oh, if I had money enough to spend, and leisure time to sit awhile
There is a fair maid in this town, that sorely has my heart beguiled
Her rosy cheeks and ruby lips, I own, she has my heart in thrall
So fill to me the parting gla*s, goodnight
