  • Nice ass Music Man though!

  • too many errors....

  • Why'd they let him play this! He has admitted that he doesn't play Thrash, so they should have given the song to Andy. Andy covers the harder stuff, while Jamie does songs that dont require much of the picking hand.

  • Jamie is the man, even if thrash isn't his style. Go check out his Led Zeppelin covers; he absolutely destroys the Since I've Been Loving You solo. Thumbs up Jamie.

  • klopas 11 youre right

  • Loool, for all complaining people.. Do it better, upload it. Then we will judge...

  • Speed plays a big role in metal, especially thrash. Its very difficult for someone that isnt used to thrash to match that speed. Now this isnt to say that a slow tempo song isnt metal, thats just not the norm. Generally metal music consists of fast guitar riffs and solos that require you to shred, which is playing a lot of notes really fast. Again, thats just metal in general. Iron Maiden is a good example of slower metal. Either way, tempo is important no matter what music you play.

  • The fuck?

  • the speed wins you dude =/

  • not bad though you guys must know that its very hard for someone who seldom plays thrash or so quick mute picking stuff. see ? his solo is great

  • Still think his solo is pretty tight!

  • Nice to see that I can play something better than a licklibrary guitarist...

  • @kallekasn hahahaha nice comment dude:D

  • bet licklibrary wont be making another metallica dvd with humpries on it!!!

  • that idiot cant play shit!

  • the fuck's wrong with you? it doesn't matter who plays it as long as it plays it right, and music (referring to metal if you want to) is not about speed, cause I saw some dumbfuck saying that, really now if you are a true metalhead/musician, this song sounds good with 1% speed for you.

  • omg and james plays it twice as fast live and still tight.....

  • what's this shit?

  • fart or you're gonna explode !!!

  • omg,so bad,no rythm feeling at all.

  • bad

  • tuning issues

  • You've cheated a few times, but who does not? you're good :) and I also do the same with the little finger! : D (I'm Spanish, my English is not very good

  • He can shred but he can't play a fairly fast and simple thrash riff. At least he tried, though he reminds me of those people who think knowing how to shred takes more skill than solid rhythm playing.

  • @MacePimpOutWindu yeah ... but i wouldn't say battery is that simple ...not the easiest riff

  • @MacePimpOutWindu Battery riffs were always kinda hard for me, the timing is little odd there and there. Making it sound as good as James Hetfield is not an easy job. I think good rhythm playing needs more skill than shred. People who play solos always seem kinda self-centered to me, but the rhythm guys tend to liste to the whole sound of the band and blend in better...

  • Weiird...he raped the solo but he's got some issues with the Galloping there

  • soloing is awesome, riffing mmm not so good

  • WTF? How did they upload this?

  • give this guy a break! he admits on the actual dvd he doesnt usually play thrash and there are people that are way better than him at this style but all his notes are right and he tried his best! that said i still dont understand why they didnt get andy to do this dvd!

  • @Nelladagar i think he really started to get the hang of it after the first minute. he defiantly did better then most people with his music background would do trying this song out.

  • Too Bad

  • hmm this is strange he cant keep up with this song but hes showing how to play it.. ar well every1 learns more by playing more just need a bit more speed and practice on the gallop

  • he need to learn how to muting string , the rest is perfect

  • too fast song for him xD

  • shouldn't someone who knows how to play the song be demonstrating?

  • ХУЕВО СЫГРАЛ(((!!!!!

  • its different o_o

  • He's not galloping right!!....The notes arent clean

  • hahahaha!!! Andy James... HELP HIM!!!!!

  • Too bad!!!

  • not easy to downpick that fast even for pros huh?

  • @RevoltingRudi you cant downpick this song its impossible its a gallop pattern

  • WTF is going on with that hi-hat in the beginning! He is in time but the beat really isn't.

  • @ciaranw520 It's ok, it's just so that it's on the up-beat.

  • =O I'm sorry this is murder. You should have got Danny or Andy to play this one. This is CLEARLY out of Jamie's depth --___--

  • @TriggerHappy971 I think his playing has more soul that the other guys. The other ones seem to be too technical...

  • @dante4d But then I listened on... shiiiitt

  • @dante4d Yes well others try to play the song as it is, not just forcefully slamming it like a rookie.

  • @Zargonite200 At least he's got nice vibrato. It just looks like he learnt it in 5 minutes and then recorded this...

  • unlike many of the other guys at lick library, this fellow plays it not so well. Especially the rhytm parts are pretty sloppy

  • te falta aceite en la muñeca maestro, no el da la nasta para tocar jevi.

  • His playing is good, but I don't know why there's all this hate for a just a few errors in the riff. Who Cares?!

  • I've been playing for a year and 1/2 and i can play this song better than him

  • @tangleone Yet you haven't posted a single video of yourself playing guitar...lol...Sure you can spend a year and a half learning to play this song better than this, but this guy may have learned to play 50 different songs better than you over that same time period. Next you're going to say you play the new Petrucci DVD better than Andy James. Over the course of a month I learned the solo's from Crazy train, goodbye to romance, and over the mountain thanks to lick library these guys rule!

  • @6second2004gto

umad bro? my strat is cheap and broken at the moment as it has been for 2 months. For christmas im getting a new one so im sure i can post a vid of me playing loads of songs ive learned. i never claimed to be better than him. i just noticed that im better than him at this particular song. Lick library is awesome and i definatly wanna buy a couple of thier dvd's. no need to get so defensive. you'll see how much potential i have if you wait til i get my christmas guitar :)

  • @tangleone I'm not even close to mad, but I am sick of all the kids posting negative comments on other peoples guitar playing videos. Especially the ones that have never posted a single video of their own playing...lol...When you make your video after christmas be sure to message me so I can check it out. I will not speak negatively of your playing regardless of it's quality so don't worry about that because I only play for fun guitar isn't a competition to me. Merry Christmas!!!

  • So this guy is a PROFESSIONAL guitarist, has been playing for 20 years or so and is still struggling with the riff. Jmes Hetfield can nail the riff and sing the damn thing at the same time. Balls to you, James!

  • Play this slower for now and practice the *heavyness* of this riff

  • Comment removed

  • this is the only lick library video i think i've ever disliked..

  • Comment removed

  • yeah im really not trying to say that im better im just saying that this might be a little fast for his usual style of playing it was still pretty good.

  • people are posting constructive critisicm, i personally have practiced and can play this up to speed. That top comment is stupid.

  • @Amirsaysyousmell sorry but do you want a medal? congratulations on learning how to play battery where im sure you can find millions of guitar players on youtube alone who can play it up to speed as well, top comment was not directed at the world but at jamie humphries just sayin'. Have a nice day dude!

  • didn't liked much this tone

  • i think Andy should be playing this song!!!! vote for Andy to play this song!!!

  • cant belive this is licklibrary... its terrible

  • @Thr4sh4lot licklibrary isn't that good. Lot of songs aren't 100% correct tabbed by them and they also don't play perfect.

  • Wtf where is Andy Jame!:o

  • hes a pro but this is not his style dont be mean :)

  • Very bad ! Is not correct !

  • so little likes?

  • so many stuff ups and the tone is horrible.

  • I've never seen any guitarist who can play lead and shredding but so awful at playing fast riffs. I can't play lead but I'm way more faster and cleaner at playing the Battery riffs. I bet he studied guitar playing straight to fast fingering, and barely rehearse palm muting on fast riffs.

  • Lou Reed ?

  • Omfg... What just happened here? I can actually say that i am better than him! :D

At least he tryied, but yea, the track is way too fast for him!

  • EXACTLY !! This track is a little fast for him :)

  • Comment removed

  • First of all Jamie didn't pick the song for the dvd, the camera guy picked it and Jamie states that in the DVD. He also says that it is a bit too fast for him, and for a non speed metal/thrash metal player it's obvious that it'll be hard to play the riffs. I'm pretty sure the performances were recorded in a hurry so he didn't have time to nail it perfectly and the song doesn't suit his style but the lesson and the lead playing are great (i have the dvd) so kudos to Jamie!

  • 3:21 kirk solo's

  • hahahaha just look at this guy! He can't even play. His entire picking action is wrong, which is clearly why he is struggling. I can play this song and i have been playing for a little under 3 years!

  • whenever i need a good laugh, i watch this.

  • lol, goooooood

  • Looool, i can play better than him. Go pratice Jamie!

  • If you would have seen the actual LESSON of the track, he said that the ending part is involving very fast Trash Metal techniques, which takes years to practice, and he apologizes if he doesn't reproduce this 100% correctly, because he's not very Trash Metal inclined ;).

  • @metalvampire660 I try to understand what you're saying, but my eyes are burning for reading "trash metal" so many times.

  • Comment removed

  • @lzmiranda I only used it twice. If I was saying Trash Metal only once, and in the second instance I would have said "the genre I have just talked about a few words ago", would your eyes have hurt less now?

If you understood my point, okay! If you didn't, go to the opthamologist and tell him or her that your eyes are broken due to a comment posted by a motherfucker on YouTube.

PS: If people wouldn't have so many unnecessary claims, the world would have been a better place :).

  • @metalvampire660 yea, but this video is a "lick library" video therefore we expect a perfect playing. And if people would stop showing us trash video, the world would have been a better place.

PS: we need THRASH, not trash

  • @quigonjean Yes, I mispelt the Thrash word, I said Trash instead, sorry. What I meant was the the one who responded to my previous comment said that I have typed that word way too many times, and I typed it only twice. Got my point?

  • I have this DVD and I think that Jamie Humphries is an exceptional guitar tutor. He teaches and plays this lesson just great. However, I think that this song would have suited Andy James better, but I still love Jamie. Keep up the great work Lick LIbrary!!!!!

  • i havent been playing for two years and i can play this song better than him

  • @deathlordjr I bet you can't. Post a video so I can see.

  • @kyleleon No problem, once i get a camera i will...

  • Lick Library picked this guy up from the flea market

  • Fail.

  • Shoulda been Andy james

  • one of the easiest gallop riffs and he cant nail it?? wtf jamie??

  • lol he cant even speedpick the riff rofl

  • Kirk's solos always look so easy. Problem is it's just how they LOOK.

  • He did alright. Im actually surprised this instructor is doing Metallica. He's more into the classic Rock I think. He nailed the lead though.

  • very, very good

  • this is really bad, embarrassing compared to everyone else on lick library. all this fuck haters business is gay because i clearly cannot reproduce this song in the way its supposed to be played.

  • @samfulfordskates Then you have no say in how its played because you are not any better. You're calling the kettle black dude.

  • @kyleleon you are an idiot with a juvenile opinion, i can play it better, but that is besides the point. you don't have to be better than someone to critique them, other wise old man football coaches wouldn't be able to criticize the players on their team because they can't play as well as them. and food critics would not be able to review shef's cooking, and art critics wouldn't be able to criticiz art.

  • i think this track is a little too fast for him

    he seems to be stumbling

  • @minefielddestruction First off, anyone giving a negative comment based on this performance can post their own video of their attempt on this song and I'll be HAPPY to watch. This song is played with two guitars don't forget. And he ripped a new asshole in those solos. I thought it was a very good performance. All you negative commenters better be guitar players because if not your comment is just piss in the wind.

  • @kyleleon calm down dude

    yes i do play

no i can't play battery but then again i've never practiced it

it is a really fast riff but if i was a guitar tutor on lick library(not that i'm good enough to be)then i would retry the recording untill i got it right

  • @minefielddestruction I don't think the point of the video lesson is so much how great he played it but more so the lesson itself. He played it note for note, and the playing is accurate. Not even Metallica plays it the same or as good night after night. He's not demonstrating how good he can play it, just the fact that he knows how to play it accurately so that people like you and I can learn it.

  • @kyleleon dude if andy james did this vid then it would have been alot better

you can clearly hear him fuckin' up all over the rhythem(worst at the begining but the rhythem is pretty shoddy all the way through)

he played the solos good but this guy should stick to slightly slower tracks so he don't stumble(like sad but true)

when i've finnished composing my new song i'm gonna learn this anyway and with a few weeks of practise i'll have it down as clean as kirk and james

    i've never failed yet

  • @minefielddestruction OMG. Who cares how well the song is played. I play guitar myself and when I'm looking for a tab or a lesson on how a song is played I could care less if the song is played well. All I care about is how accurate the song is. Lick Library's objective with these videos is to teach the songs ACCURATELY. After watching that video, I now know how to play battery a lot better than I did before. So thank you Jamie!

  • @kyleleon hey you picked the argument with me bro

all i did was state a fact

  • @minefielddestruction exactly in the grande scheme of guitar playing this is not a hard song, and we all know andy james would have reproduced this perfectly, note for note and as tight as a virgin.

  • @kyleleon ps nice thumb over barre chords

  • @minefielddestruction i think he did exceptionally well on a track that is exceptionally difficult

  • @spankyham911 yeah it's difficult but 15 mins of practice and i had the riff down cleaner than this dude

he should have practiced for a little while before the performance

  • @minefielddestruction And he seems to be struggling with the galloping. The galloping James used, was a wrist based technique. What Jamie is doing, is an elbow or forearm based technique; making yourself more tired, more quickly. I use the wrist based technique, because it's easier on my arm, and it's easier to learn.

  • @GeordanAOfficial yeah and also it's a bit easier standing

  • nice!!!

  • He totally nails it...... godamn haters.....

  • the lead playing is very good

  • wtff nice palm muting n000b

  • Go and learn to play guitar before going talk shit on youtube.

  • he can probably play better than most of the haters on here LOL

  • he's not playing it in a good way

  • HORRIBLE.....

  • LOL he SUCKS at this song :o

  • hes good, just not with this song. oh well, win some you lose some

  • He explains on the DVD that he's no "metal officianado"... plus he's a cool guy so fuck it.

  • he's better than anyone posting COMMENTS here on youtube.

Definitely better than I'll ever be. Thanks for the tutorials LL.

  • mm la cago al prinsipio pero no me gusto asi mucho

  • dude , your soooo bad , i'm not being mean , but fuuuck man , andy james is waaaaaay better .

  • should of got andy james to smash this one out

  • HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

  • the riff isn`t good

  • esta mas omenos el riff

  • no offense, but the main rhythm part isn't played very well at all.

  • @metfan4l Maybe the dude had a bad day happens to everyone....and the sound here isn't very good for riffs.

  • great job

  • @metalicbluz YOU ARE A FUCKING GENIUS i love your videos
