I want to buy a collection of Mary's CD. Where can I buy it ? I heard the "Those were the days, Dona Dona, Goodbye , Que Sera, Sera before but I dont know it is she. Mary is voice sounds like an angel's..
Summertime, Tell me now; it's clear that the Apple compilation CD from 1995 should have been a double CD...
In 1994 grumpy-grousy Vangelis finally agreed to a re-release of Bladed Runner. To my surprise the extra tracks featured a Mary Hopkin contribution, with wordless vocalizing. Rachel's Song, it's stunning.
Why has she always been such a recluse? She had good musical taste and a beautiful voice. Don't tell me that she never overcame Paul McCartney!
I was a ten-years-old boy when I first listenned Mary Hopkin song - Those were the days - in 1968, and since then I've never found such beautiful voice in other female singer. At that time, I coudn't access her videos as I can nowadays, so I see the complete harmony between her voice and her looking...her face is so kind..she looks an angel. Is there someone who can tell me how I do to have recent news from her? Does she still sing?
I love this wonderful song of Mary Hopkins! I am super fan of Brazil and her! I love her voice and singing the songs in my repertoire it, love it all! Congratulations for posting this wonderful song here !!!!!!!
Just received my copy of 'Now and Then'. More beautiful music from the wonderful and talented MARY HOPKIN. 'Tell Me Now' sounds superb on CD. Update your collection with this great release.
I agree... "tell Me now" has always been a favourite of mine, but to hear it on this CD, it sounds so fresh and almost brand new,, wonderful! cd is available via Mary Hopkin Music
Mary's earliest recordings were outstanding. In my opinon, However, Mary's voice handled mid range vocals better, and was and a little smoother and more mellow in the mid 1970s.
Lovely harmonies and beautiful song. Hope this track appears on the forthcoming CD 'Now and Then'. I also loved the single 'Beyond The Fields We Know' ... what a superb voice from a beautiful lady.
I have sung Those were the days many times in the pubs and one person said I should never stop singing that one because I sang it well. Thanks for the info about her other songs richpat.
Tekk me now is one of my favourites. Until yesterday I had forgotten about the other songs she did except for those were the days. I only heard 3 of her songs before yesterday but I am a permanent fan.
In 2005 she released, "Live at the Royal Festival Hall" December 2006 a Xmas song called "Snowed Under" as a download in May 2007 she released an album called "Valentine" with 12 previously unheard tracks dating from 1972 to 1980 three of which were written by Mary in November 2008 a new CD "Recollections" was released it includes 2 written by Mary, also a CD of Christmas songs "Mary Had A Baby" and "Cherry tree Carol" from 1972 and "Snowed under"
I have sung Those were the days many times in the pubs and one person said I should never stop singing that one because I sang it well. Thanks for the info about her other songs.
Do I like this one, "Jerusalem" or "Those were the days" best? just can't make up my mind... :-P and maybe a week or 2 ago I only knew about "Those were the days". Thanks for the upload! This one surprised me. At least the 5th time I've listened
It will be interesting to hear some of Mary's songs NOT produced by Tony Visconti. For obvious reasons his productions for her were superb,I wonder if her other recordings will be so sympathetic to her voice. By the way Kate Corrigans tribute was superb did you make it there?
Yes Bladesteve I agree, if we keep "pestering" her enough maybe, just maybe we will get our way and this and "just a dreamer" (b side to "Wrap me in your arms")will make it to CD... we had "Valentine" from her last year, and according to her myspace site there is lots more to come in the Autumn!!
This was the B-side to If you love me from 1976. It was produced by hysband Tony Visconti on the Good Earth label and reached number 32 on the British charts
Is there any songs under the Good Earth label ever released in CD (or just 7" single /EP)? Can you tell me the songs from last CD 'Valentine' belong to those recordings in 70 under Good Earth label?
Mary released 2 singles on good earth, "If you love me" and "Wrap me in your arms" neither have officially been relased on CD the songs on "Valentine" were recorded mostly in the 70's go to maryhopkindotcom for more information
Lots of these songs you mention in "about this video" have been rleased on her own label Mary Hopkin Music (maryhopkindotcom) Her latest CD 'Valentine' released this year is now available and is really lovely, with lots more releases to come...
I always return to hear this song, germans would say its an "Ohrwurm".
