  • oh this is the episode where percival comes into the picture ! I love these episodes, just to see how that nerdy looking boy can keep nellie under his tumb.

  • I love how everybody else is listening so intently to Manly and Grace is working at her food like someone's trying to steal it...

  • Almanzo ask laura to be is wife

  • @MrsPanther09 aww that is so sweet.

  • "If you would behave like a woman, you wouldn't need this hotel and restaurant to get yourself a man!" "What?!" Lol, I always loved Nels!

  • 3 Turds in the bunch.

  • Nellie wasn't as much of a brat even in these episodes before she met percival she grows nicer.

  • I love this episode too.I watch it regularly .I'm very romantic i think. And i cannot help it!

  • I love this episode. and I like it when Almanzo says "sometimes it's hard to say things" i totally agree with him on that.

  • Almonzo: i want to marry your daughter

Charles: now that isnt a surprise to me

    Almonzo: next month

    Charles: now that does

    LOL!!! XD

  • 7:45 Ahahaha!!!

  • Well THAT was quick courtship! Didn't they JUST get together the last episode?

  • Laura had been trying to win his heart for a long time.

  • @DigiScrap34 in the books Almanzo was the one to notice Laura, not the other way around

  • @babylover0990 Yup he noticed her in The Long Winter when she gets lost in the field with carrie and ends up on Royals farm...

  • @babylover0990

Thanks for the information, as I've not read the book. I'm so glad that Almanzo seeks Laura out, rather then the other way around, as that is the way it should be. Again: Thanks!!

  • The funny thing is, Mary was only 16 the season before this when she got married. Laura's age ended up being a huge issue these next couple episodes, yet it wasn't that way for Mary. Either it was really just an issue because Almanzo was in his 20's or the writers were just trying to think of an interesting plot to get high ratings.

  • @katya355 i know and adam is just as older then mary as almanzo is with laura maybe even older!

  • @katya355 Good points. I've been pondering the same thing. Also maybe the writers had gotten or were worried about getting flack from the public about how young Mary was. Even though things were different back then. Context can be everything.

  • i love this episode!

  • Awww, this is so cute! <3

  • i love it when he tilts the notepad away so she cant read it <3. hes so cute. . . *swoon*

  • i am responsable for at least 100 of the veiws! i love this episode sooo much!

  • I was totally watching Grace eat while Almanzo was getting up the nerve to say it. She is so cute ;)

  • wonder what her real name is, that was the best comeback ever.

  • His HAIR! OMG, I WOULD LOVE TO HAVE AN ALMANZO!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Almanzo has beautiful hair, gorgeous smile that makes your heart melt, shy personality and amazing eyes. i love him!

  • I like them together, but she seems so much junger, when they're gonna marry the difference between ages don't seem so much

  • Thank you so much for uploading this! I Love Little house on the Prairie. :)

  • Hahahaaa! They just happened to take a pencil and paper to the lake with them.

  • @ginahowardgiannattas I for one am NEVER without pencil or paper. LOL

  • I'm actually more partial to Adam's proposal to Mary. "I have to...go to the post office!" LOL But this is cute, too. :)

  • God, it sounds like hes gonna break up with her. I'd be FAH-reakin' out! "Some things are hard to say." in a really depressed voice=it's over, sorry in my paranoid language

  • Laura would have never worn her hair down in public and certainly not in front of a suitor. I severely doubt Almanzo's hair looked like it was cut in the 70's and I'm certain Pa didn't have an afro. I've heard about Little House on the Prairie TV show most of my life and I have been very disappointed to see how poorly the series was done.

  • Laura is the little girl? She is the one acting like an adult...Almanzo is being the child.

  • I love Almanzo! He is so cute when he's being shy! :D

  • @lover4him13 Simply adorable!

  • i love this epi thanks angain x

  • Eh, Hariett shows her better sides in some of the episodes. And she was lucky to have met someone like her husband- the only righ man for her. But, all in all, she adds colour to the show, to be honest. And the actress did her part very very welll

  • charles: to be honest that didnt suprise me (smiles)

    maley: next mouth,

    charles: that does,

Lol ha ha charles makes me laugh x

  • The One**********

  • Is the thenone where Nellie perposes? (sorry 4 the bad bad spelling)

  • Laura looks so young with her hair down!

  • @Klemp26 She 's young.She was 15 or 16 back then!so she was a teenager.Almanzo was older.

  • @fisteberg laura was sixteen when almanzo ask her that why at very end he told almanzo he had to wait one year.

  • uhh Laura is the one marrying almanzo, why does Pa have to say it is between him and Manzo to discuss? She should be in it too!

  • haha Harriet "I have never listened to you before, and I certainly am not gonna start now'

  • He is not Manly at all... could barely even get up the courage to ask Laura.... whahahahhaa

  • @meeeeeeow95 yeah...but he was nearvouse. half the men in the world take an hour to cough it up

  • "By being a man"

Lol - though I love Nells to death, I have to agree with that statement. <=)

  • I love this episode!!! This is when Nellie turns nice! :D

  • I love how Nells tells off Nellie.

  • i loved this series since i was 5

  • hold on, is the boy who played Albert the guy Peter Patrelli from Heroes? He would be too old though I think, but the sure look a like.

  • can someone please tell me in what episode laura first time met Almanzo and then there were a bully boy who almoust started to fight with albert but then manly runs between them and so on..? :)

  • @Annika994 Watch The Werewolf of Walnut Grove 2 that Emotional2000 uploaded.

  • @Annika994 Oh, and the first time Almanzo comes into the series is in the Back to School episode. It's in two parts. Watch the 2nd video in the first part that Emotional2000 uploaded.

  • why does laura call him manly?

  • @lilhein15 and y does almonzo call her beth

  • @lilhein15 Maybe because he looks manly?

  • i love grace in the background, just chowin' down.

  • Since she looks about 12 and he looks about 25, it seems odd he is the one too shy to talk

  • She is actually 16 on the show and he is 10 years older than her. But I hear ya....lol

  • You know what's coming when the young man begins with, 'you know I've been working real hard..." THen he says he got a raise..

"that does not come as a big surprise to me".

    "That does..."

    Priceless!

  • haha that is well badd xD i noticed it too - i was like woahhhhh upfront lol

doesnt laura look kinda young for him aswell

she l0oks like shes 10 - makes him a pedo too

  • I watched this show as a child to, I even named my daughter Laura Elizabeth of course for different reasons but it's a cute comparison.

  • to bad nellie wasn't a real person just a comnbanation of some girls laura knew growing up

  • Almanzo drives me crazy

  • How old was Almonzo at this time?

  • 26 i think

she is 16..it was 10 years between them..

  • to what?? haha :) "Uh, sharpen this pencil"

  • pliss en audio latinooo o aunke sea subtituladooooooo plisssssssss

  • Mrs. Ingalls is just a peasant? Harriet is so insolant and obnoxious! Mrs. Ingalls is hardly a peasant!

  • I'm only in junior high, but I love watching little house on the prairie. It never gets old!! it's kind of sad though, because nobody else my age has heard of it until I tell them.

  • i am 12 and i love watching it to!!!

  • that's awesome!!

  • Too bad you weren't around when it was in it's prime! When I was your age, I looked forward to LHOP episodes every week. Of course, if you were around then you'd be an old lady now! hah hah Glad to see the youngins watch decent shows!

  • That's awsome, i watched it when it first came out, i was in jr high school, i have loved it ever since. Right on for the young people that have great taste in tv today. Keep on the good side of life, being a pioneer was hard work in those times. I was married to a decendent of the wilder's and i know it to be true because there is a whole book on it. my ex hubby's grandma was a wilder. Enjoy, god bless you.

  • Im in high school and i watch it still. my people have seen it but they said they didn't like it.

  • Thanks so much for uploading this. Wow, it takes me back.

I haven't seen Melissa Gilberts old nose in years. DOH.

    :)

  • Omg you guys are so wrong... This programme came out the same year my mother was born. and when she was little they didn't have plastic surgery.. so you guys are really stupid..

  • Plastic surgery ie: Rhinoplasty was around way before LHOTP was filmed, check your facts before calling people stupid kyuubiinarutoo.

  • me too :D I love little house on the prairie!!! I'd like to see this film on TV again!!! I was watching it when I was 10!

  • I live in Toronto, Canada and we still get the reruns...I watch it everynight as soon as I get in from work while I make dinner...love it!!!!!

  • i have loved little house since i was a child and i love watching the reruns

  • Mr. Ingalls was right in having her wait, she was too young then and if Almonzo still felt the same way after 2 years, YOU KNOW IT"S TRUE LOVE!!!!!

  • Didn't Ingalls say one time that he's parents married when they were 12 or 13? That would be a disaster now days. I've known many people who got married out of high school, all of them eventually divorced!

  • At the age of 12 and 13, you don't even really know yourself much less having to get to know your spouse. It is not suprising that many divorce overtime because when they do discover themself, they have realized that they have made a huge mistake.

  • ok he asked her to marry him and how LONG HAVE THEY BEEN LIKE DATING ?????

  • One of the few episodes with lots of guitar.

  • I love this episode. Thanks for posting it ( in English)

  • Haha, meowing the song, I am 33.. when did 33 or even 38 become old. We are wise enough to enjoy life and have the skills to do so. :) It helps to look 27 too :)

  • i meowed to the song 2 lol xD

  • Wow - that was kinda disturbing...

  • They are a great couple but at this stage it just doesn't work for me because she looks too young!

Plus I want Almanzo for myself.

  • I'll fight ya for him!! lol

  • "Ugh! Mrs. Ingalls is a peasant!!!" LOL gotta love Harriet...

  • I always liked Mr.Olson, he is so cool, but i always wondered how he could stand Harriet...

  • @MijanneEsbjerg love is blind/

  • @MijanneEsbjerg That's why he snapped in Second Spring...

  • LOL the lead broke.

  • ok im 38 years old ,,,and i meowed the theme song!!! lol it is fun

  • haha meowing is silly, but it is fun! lol

  • meowing the song is fun!

  • OMG, Almanzo is just sooooo sweet. I've had a crush on him ever since I was a little girl! :-)

  • Dean Butler is in his 50s or 60s now.

  • I don't know whether Adam's proposal to Mary or Almanzo's proposal to Laura is more ridiculous! lol! I think Almanzo did a bit better. :D

  • Thanks for running this, my favorite episode from the series. Despite the character's attitude, I've had a crush on Nellie Oleson and she's never looked more beautiful.

  • You're welcome! : D

  • @Setebos thts gross she always looked ugly

  • @Setebos Damn straight! Nellie was a hottie! Alison Arngram is a great actress, and she said it best: "Anyone can be nice, it takes talent to be a BITCH!"

  • @Potsie791 --- not to mention that being an onscreen bitch means you usually end up with better lines.

  • @Setebos Amen.

  • @Potsie791 I don't know about that.....some days it can come pretty easy!!!! LOL Just teasing!!!

  • I'm so glad it's not up to my father who I marry, and when I marry (within the law, of course). I like the freedom of making my own choices.

  • Thank you for telling me the title. Feel like a dummy now.

  • You're not a dummy! :) You asked a question, that's all. I was going to ask the same thing until I saw your question and miliet36 answered it. :)

  • HLN what does that stand for???

  • He loves me not, I believe: title of the episode: He loves me, he loves me not.

  • Imagine walking into a restaurant now and having dinner and then saying, "No I don't feel like paying. Have a nice night bye."

  • when harriet say to nels-YES REEEEAAALLY....sounds so funny haha

  • I love the show and the books!

  • LMAO!!!!!! MRS. INGALLS is JUST a peasant...I LOVE Harriet. I know shes crabby and spoiled but she makes me laugh so hard! And I love it when she get soft...a rarity LOL!

  • Do as MANY AS U CAN PLEEEEEEEEASEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEe

  • As many what?

  • My dad passed away in 1984 around the same time little house on the show came to and end I was 9 at the time. Pa from the the show reminded me of my dad. This show brings back good memories thank you for all the post

  • You're welcome and thank you for sharing.... I hope that LHOP brings you memories of joy regarding your father....

    Best Wishes...

    Emotional2000

  • @ladydeathdonna I remember watchin this when I was like 3 or 4 can't remember more from back then than Charles ridin his wagon through the landscape from back then. Been watchin it thousand times since then and never get fed up with it...not yet...lol

  • in that time, at least according to laura in her books, women were expected to fulfill their roles as domesticated wives, with a smile on their face. some were suited to it, like ma and mary, but laura always said she was not suited to it and would not get married. she even told almanzo that she would not and could not say she would 'obey' him in her vows. he strongly agreed that that was wrong and that he would never ask her to do that. and of course, almanzo asked pa for laura's hand first

  • Correct! However, I wonder if Laura suffered any hardships for being so strong willed and an independent thinker... Because as you implied, in those days women were to do as their told. What do you think?

  • I think Laura at least suffered some inner turmoil. Even though Miss Wilder, Eliza, is in the books, here in the show her storyline is fictional as far as I can tell. But I'll bet there were the 'spinsters' that really suffered for it. I know Ma, even sometimes had a hard time with saying, 'You know best, Charles', which she often said. Especially when she did not want to move further west when they were on Plum Creek.

  • @Emotional2000 I bet she did. Simply because the people that my family know are always insinuating that when I get married I'm going to do the cooking and the cleaning, and when I inform them that I will be working and my husband and I are going to share the work, they look at me and begin talking to me as if I were a child who does not understand the world or as if I am a fool who will in time see reality as it should be. They give me a very hard time of it. Thus, I'm sure Laura had a hard time

  • Why is Laura out of the conversation??? It's supposed to be HER wedding too!!! How could women stand such things at this time? Fortunately, there are many LHOTP epis where women are very smart and strong! Thanks a lot for all your wonderfull work, emotional2000!

  • I agree with your comment and you're welcome for the epi. : )

  • Emotional--you do a great job posting these, good quality, and good syncing of the voices (something posters of other shows have trouble with). Thanks!

  • You're welcome Tealorca and thanx for the comment.. Its appreciated! I work hard to bring LHOP fans the very best in picture quality.... I am glad you noticed my efforts... : )

  • I had to re-jog my memory, but this should clear up some questions:

In syndication, "Sweet 16" and "He Loves Me" are aired back to back, so it looks like Laura and Almanzo dated for just a week. However, in 1980 when it was shown for the first time, there was a two-month hiatus between the episodes. I can't remember why; I may do some research on it. When Almanzo proposed, several months had passed. Then in September 1980, when "Laura Ingalls Wilder" was shown, several more months had passed.

  • Well, here are some air dates on the LHOP epi's you mentioned.

    Sweet 16 aired Feb. 25,1980

He Loves Me, He Loves Me Not part 1 aired May 5, 1980 and He Loves Me, He Loves Not part aired on May 12, 1980

  • Thanks...I knew the air dates, I just had to figure out what went on in-between. I posted that earlier. I need to keep my posts more organized!

  • You may have noticed that the best or most sensational episodes of LHOTP had two things in common:

    "Written by Michael Landon"

    "Directed by Michael Landon"

When you saw that in the opening credits, you KNEW something was going happen. When this episode first aired and Laura read that letter by the lake, I KNOW I stopped breathing! I don't know what happened after "Sweet 16," but Dean Butler and Melissa Gilbert had much better chemistry starting with this episode.

  • His son, Michael Landon Jr. is following in his footsteps, and doing a super job. I loved "The Last Sin Eater" and many of his other works.

  • My sister and I can pretty much quote the entire script from this episode and "Sylvia."

IIRC, there was a hiatus between "Sweet 16" and "He Loves Me." I know "Sweet 16" was on during the February sweeps and "He Loves Me" during the May sweeps. It may have just be reruns in-between, but I will check some old TV listings later to be sure.
