Trust me. You are that girl. As being a barista, when you order a large ass latte, you are going to get a lot of fucking foam. What do you think happens when you steam milk? It foams up. Maybe you should learn how coffee is made before you twat your meaningless coherent shit on youtube. Please do the world a favor and sew your butthole shut, so you can rot in your own shit and die. Thanks, from all of us, the coffee community.
Haha, okay...the ending was a little much for me. But thank you. Thank you for understanding that it difficult/time consuming to scrap off that millimeter of foam on top. Next time just ask to speak the the shift supervisor / manager and ask to have someone completely remake your drink.
I actually work for Starbucks and I thought this was hilarious. I don't mind making crazy drinks for anyone especially if your nice about it. It isn't that hard to do a No Foam drink especially if your a perfectionist like me. It does take extra time to scrap off the foam though. However, I do love foam, lol. Thanks for not minding the tiny bit of foam left over. Some people just half ass everything they do, lol. There is a trick to the no foam latte though.
You go, girl! I know it was like over two years ago, and such, but you honestly have every right to complain. You are a paying customer, and you deserve to have your drink made correctly, and treated with respect. If the barista fucked up, then he/she should own up to it, apologize, and make it right. I work at a SB and it is not brain surgery to make a latte correctly. And you 600 people bashing on this girl, relax and get a sense of humor - she made a bad situation funny in her "rant".
@renix You just said it didn't you? That we only have 'starbucks junk' meaning we dont have a choice. Trust me, you don't want to hear unaerated milk screaming, it also changes the taste to burned and unsweet when you skip aerating. If you simply leave milk sit after steaming for about 45-60 seconds the foam will rise and separate on its own, but many people don't know this because it isnt taught.
Is this supposed to be a really bad joke or is this girl actually pissed about foam? In the long run I'm pretty sure foam is one of the most insignificant things out there.
SHUT THE FUCK UP! You cant come onto youtube and talk while forgetting all the little implyings youre making that its all about you, that you're queen, and that you are the only person on this planet. Thumbs up so we can get this white trash bitch kicked out of America. "Like thats all I fucking want like whats the big fucking deal." Lol, I'll show you my big fucking deal. A fist to your face.
"I'm not a bitch." ...Really? At least you agree that it's hard to get ALL the foam out. And soy, as has previously been discussed, is incredibly difficult to make non-foamy. Foam also manifests itself after 20 seconds or so, so when I pour your cup, it may look no-foam, even if I strain and scoop it, but particularly with soy, foam will likely rise. Deal with it, princess, order nonfat if foam is that big a deal.
Sooo, yeahhh.... Soy milk is the hardest milk to get "no foam" from.. It naturally foams up, more so then any other milk making it near to impossible to get no foam. Normally when some one orders a soy no foam latte I would steam two pitchers of soy milk because it takes a lot of soy to make it no foam.. So my dear you are making barista waste there soy milk which is expensive. Also! There is a technique that goes into steaming milk which if done wrong will make the milk taste like shit. And th
So, you're really stressing out over nothing... You're so petty. Not pretty, petty. I'm sure you're making up most of this rant as you go after over-thinking the response/ laughing for way too long with your cunty friends. You also look like you were paying with someone else's money, so again, you are really stressing out over nothing. OMFG, my shitty soy latte has FOAM in it! I can't imagine how much the baristas made fun of you after your dumb ass left. Your voice is annoying.
Just b/c someone works at a licensed store doesn't mean they don't know everything that a regular Starbucks barista does. I work at A Safeway Starbucks and I know how to give someone no foam - that barista was just lazy.
She has so many valid points about this and can DEAL with a little bit of foam. she understands that. If she came to my store, Id be glad to give her exactly what she asked for, no bullshit or rubbish. maybe just a joke about foam and a smile.
@LOVEd3xt3r Yeah, when your paying 5 6 bucks for your coffee then your expecting quality in what your buying, and a good overall experience, and good customer service. As long as she's not treating the employee like crap, if that's the case... she get's a cup of foam lol.
To the person who said the stores on campuses don't get "trained" on how to work at Starbucks. You are incorrect. I worked at a licensed store for 2 years, and had the proper training. I now work at a "real" Starbucks and have been there for 3+ years.
@AwkGirlProbz Unfortunately, being trained at Sbx doesn't train you how to be a barista since your machines are all automated. You're more like drink mixers. By an E61 head espresso machine for your house and you'll realize how little you actually know about coffee.
@renix No need to be uppity. At the end of the day, we're all just making shit drinks for people who most likely cannot even tell the difference. I'm speaking for myself, but I honestly couldn't care less about "real" espresso machines or how little I know about coffee. I'm just a full time student working part time at the bux for a little cash, feeding their cult culture and entitled customers (like the girl in the above video), until I move on to bigger and better things.
@rondevvue Exactly. You know what you don't know, and what you don't care to know. You know your place. These other girls on here do not know what they don't know, but want to pretend that they do (amidst terrible spelling errors and logic). The video is just a joke though.
@Jamesisbro ... Actually, the milk does NOT turn to foam after sitting; given time, the foam actually dissipates. I work at Starbucks, so believe me, I know. Also, in order for there not to be NO foam at all, the Barista has to let the steamed milk sit for about 30+ seconds so people like this girl don't get all pissy (and let foam ruin their day...). So if you order NO foam and you know you want absolutely none at all, make sure you're prepared to wait the extra minute. You can either have you
@countrygirlatheart53 If you train to be a real barista you'll learn that real espresso machines (not the fake ones with garden hose size steamers) will allow you to steam milk into microfoam that looks like wet paint. Even if someone wants zero foam you just sink the wand to the bottom and let it sit.
no foam omg if your not being a bitch i would hate to see when you are being a bitch you need to have some decaf and relax and you make your self a no foam drink then we can talk
When your drink sits for ten minutes because you are too busy talking to your also annoying plastic friend. the milk turns itself into foam!! OMG NO WAI MANG. YES WAY!
So you end up with half a cup of foam because you didn't take your goddamn drink right away. DON'T LIE! That's what happened.
OH... MY... GOD... can this girl be any more annoying?? I mean seriously...1/8 of an inch of foam... oh gosh, the world is gonna end... if you're so worried about 1/8 of an inch of foam, why don't YOU get behind the fucking counter and make your own damned soy latte so I can get on with the rest of my day!? People like this girl are the #1 reason being a barista sucks, no matter what coffee company you work for... but I have noticed that Starbucks customers are the worst tho by far.
You had a chance to say something to the world and all you did was complain about a bad experience you had at a tiny starbucks on campus ? That seems like a bad choice on your part.I think you should have tried juggling or doing a comedy routine, you might have had better results. Oh and foam told me to tell you that you suck.
ok carm the fuck down it not the end of the world and you try working at starbuck when they are cut hours so the stuff arn't getting the right traing and all so who give a shit if the brista gave you a coffee with ordney milk insted of soya then complan about it you soild brat
He was probably thinking of fucking her brains out. And we're all sad to see that someone clearly has:( I'd still love to hate-fuck the shit out of this annoying bitch tho
My mind is blown. for real. I work at Starbucks and first of all calm down. you have no idea how hard it is to make a latte completely foam free, and also your paying 5 dollars for a freakin coffee that you can make for yourself at home so thats your first issue. and another thing, if you know so much about foam, work at starbucks yourself alright. literally, you sound really sad, and sound like your trying to be jenna marbles. P.s your college "starbucks" isn't a real one, it's a knockoff
Oh and just incase you didn't know... starbucks on college campuses, they arnt starbucks stores. Its your college paying starbucks and being granted permission to say they carry starbucks. They can have everything starbucks have, even down to the uniform... but they dont go through our training, we dont hire their baristas.. so on and so fourth. So put your big girl panties on, get a shirt in your size and stfu.
@Hidepride Yep, colleges, chapters/indigo, target and wherever else carries there own manages a lot of it but the hiring and training is done by Starbucks corp. so your wrong there. And it's called quality fucking control, when I'm paying 5$ for my coffee I'm expecting quality and a good experience. I'm not gonna treat people like shit, but I will complain if it's not what Ive asked for.
@canascot02 Actually we dont hire for license stores. Those baristas arnt even partners. They dont get our discounts or benefits because... theyre not starbucks baristas. The people that work at licensed stores are hired by licensed stores, not starbucks.
@canascot02 Considering that they dont even carry the same products, and that their trainers arnt trained by us. My assumption is that their store managers are trained by us and that is the full extent of it. I am a barista trainer, I know the material given to me for training new baristas, there is no way all if it is given to licensed stores. I base this simply off of product (be it edible or not)
@Hidepride What is a Starbucks barista trainer? They know nothing about coffee, so obviously trainers aren't telling them anything. Do you practice mixing proportions? You should get BGA certified so you can actually know something about being a barista.
@renix Going down and reading all your comments, clearly YOU don't know much about starbucks. Ill educate you. Starbucks uses many different machines in its stores. Which machine in which store will depend on what local demand is. Starbucks still has the fun machines where you load espresso for each drink. In any coffee house you have to airate the milk to make it sweet. I've worked at other coffee shops. I've been to other ones. I study the industry independently. You dont know it all.
@Hidepride 1) Sbx only uses removable portafilter machines in very very few stores, like at Pike Place Market. Even higher end locations which offer a Clover machine do not use removable portafilter machines (the ones you refer to as "the fun ones"). 2) "Airate" is not a word. You do not have to aerate the milk to heat it up, which was my point. If you dip a wand beneath the surface and there will be no introduction of air - and thus no cavitation causing foam. Good try, kid!
@renix Are you a barista at all? Because even in those horrible garden hose machines you hate so much you dip the wand below the surface of the milk. You still need to /aerate/ the milk to make a latte... because the milk its self doesnt just need to heat up. The flavor of the milk actually changes. Not just the fact that is has foam... but the flavor of the milk itsself.
@Hidepride That's a function of a fake steam wand made to require little no skill or training. True about the flavor, but I'm not talking about the flavor of the milk. Let's just say I help some cafe owners with their coffee quality. :)
@renix You just admitted that youre wrong... in different words. In order to make a GOOD drink you need sweeter milk. In order to do that, you gotta /aerate/ it. And lets just say youre unemployeed.
@Hidepride Instead of embarrassing yourself you should just ask questions. Making statements based on an empty knowledge base gets you nowhere. Let's continue your education: Aerating milk, good job spelling it right by the way, changes the viscosity of the milk - which in turn changes the mouthfeel. It does not change the flavor. The increased temperature does however change the flavor. Any other brain busters?
@renix So, rather than doing what youre doing you want me to do what you want me to do? A do as I say not as I do thing. Well hunny, (hunny not honey) When you get your own cafe you can make a drink however you like. But in the mean time, the REAL way to make a drink is this way... no matter what authority you claim to be. My guess is you either hate capitalism or were fired from starbucks. I could be wrong but you got beef and clearly seek out fights. thats fine
@Hidepride I never commented on the right way to make a latte. Aerating is correct. Perhaps you should take some notes on debate and how to rebut what's being argued instead of changing the subject.
@renix You came here and started a fight with a few people. You use your opinion and claim it as fact.... yet if anyone says anything besides your OPINION theyre uneducated. Thats a great debate hun. I've listened to you, I really have. And I made the educated decision that youre full of it based on my years of experience in the field. Ive been making espresso drinks since I was in high school. Youre opinion has been heard and discarded. Move on
@Hidepride The fact that you don't realize that it's not just my opinion shows that you are uneducated. The concepts I've described are part of the BGA standards and/or can be found in the SCAA library. I'm sure that since you are a self-proclaimed experienced barista you are a member of both, right? You honestly do not know how to counter a claim, you're just talking about the argument we're having instead of proving that I'm wrong. That's not debate. I can easily prove why you are wrong.
@renix Proof my dear requires sources. Youve given opinion. I dont tend to argue with opinions of taste. If you like your milk in that manner, thats youre taste. Congrats to you. Picks fights over it on youtube? what a big boy you are. Most of us dont really care what you think.
@Hidepride I haven't posted anything regarding my personal preferences. My milk is "that" manner? If for some reason you've confused my explanations of the mechanics of steaming for a declaration that a latte is to be made without aerating or that it's the correct way you've gone and confused yourself again. What I've posted as sources back up my claims for steaming mechanics, both the BGA and SCAA websites are available to you, though the SCAA may cost you.
@Hidepride Just to give you an example of personal proof that Sbx baristas don't know anything I will ask a simple problem solving question. If you are pulling a shot and it's pulling a tad slow, and you don't want to change the grind, what's your other option? I guarantee you Sbx won't teach you this basic information.
@renix Well hun, CAN vary depending on what machine youre using. My normal machine you cannot adjust the water (well you can but you have to climb under the cabinet and it would void the warranty). But there are machines where you can adjust the water flow. You can also adjust the beans, which is most commonly down when in a rush. I have seen baristas force stop it, but this shouldnt be done when making a drink. On other machines that ive used, where it wasnt automated, you had to judge.
@Hidepride I'm referring to any pump machine. I've used plenty of machines that use pumps ranging from cheap thermoblocks, E61's, Linea's, a Strada, Simonelli's, to a vintage Victoria Arduino lever. But to speak to your answer, there is no such thing as adjusting water flow on a pump machine. I'm not even sure how you "adjust beans". The question was what to do after you realize it's pulling slow without changing the grind. Point is, you don't know much and stop pretending that you do.
@renix Oh Im sorry sweety, you CAN adjust the water on some machines. The water pressure and temperature. Both of which HIGHLY affect the shot quality. If the water is too cool the beans will not brew properly and you will get a more bitter shot, if the water is too hot the beans will saturate too rapidly and the shot will be too sweet and watery. Not all machines can this be adjusted so easily.
@Hidepride You're sorry for what? Not understanding that flow rate, pressure, and temperature are three separate things? You cannot change flow rate of the water. You can change the temperature and the pressure. The key fact is that you do not understand that water flow is not equal to pressure. Pretty basic stuff, not my opinion. It's fact. It's science.
@Hidepride Your lack of understanding and resistance to admit it is the topic. It's a common practice of people who are very bright to introduce irrelevant points to a debate. This is not about my opinion. This is not about customer preference - at all. I'm simply explaining accepted industry knowledge to you (very basic might I add), of which you are not understanding and keep referencing my opinion. This is accepted factual information by every industry organization, I'm irrelevant here.
@renix The beans in a hopper, if youre using an automated machine, dont always fall into the grinder. Sometimes as the beans get low they dont slide. If there is not enough weight pushing the beans down into the grinder the shot will be ruined because not enough espresso is being used. You adjust this by simply moving the beans around. Although when this DOES happen the shot is normally pulling too fast, not a tad slow.
@renix The point isnt what i do ro do not know, the point isnt what your guild does and does not know, the point IS my dear child.... that YOURE OPINION doesnt validate a multi-billion dollar company. Your guild isnt the authority, starbucks isnt the authority. DD isnt the authority, neither is mcdonalds nor carribu. The authority is the customer. And because the customers prefer different things, each customer goes where they are happiest. THAT wont change because you have an opinion.
@Hidepride Also, one of us is involved in the industry as a side job to another one. The other is a Starbucks employee who is probably taking 7 years to finish college based on your capacity to spell.
@renix Did I mention flow rate? No... i mentioned pressure. I think youre pissed off because I gave you an answer you werent expecting. You CLEARLY love to argue. You have to get off when people admit your right, that is the only logical explanation. Any normal human being would have stopped. You came here, started a fight, and declare yourself the winner. Guess what, i declare myself the winner. Same thing kid. Move on.
@renix So go fix the espresso machine and leave making drinks to the real baristas... the ones that have worked behind the counter for years... not the one that found a website And for you to EVER discredit the customer, that is proof alone that youve NEVER been a barista.
@Hidepride I'm not a machine tech, but good guess? Not really. You can't call yourself a barista since you clearly don't understand concepts. This is my point.
@Hidepride I'm not discrediting customers, I am telling YOU that WE are not talking about customers, and that YOU continually introduce new topics into the argument and avoid the actual topics I brought up. You don't even take a hint when I mention that only idiots bring up outside information and irrelevant topics in a debate.
@renix No honey bun, I know very well what youre talking about. Youre not getting my point.... I dont care what your opinion is of steamed milk. Youre fighting over the business practice of another business..... STEAMED MILK. You can keep fighting and trying to insult me all you like... if you need to feel like a better person by all means go on. The point is still the same, youre fighting over YOUR OPINION ON STEAMED MILK.
@Hidepride Saying you understand doesn't mean you do, you continually demonstrate that you do not by the direction you take the conversation. I never once posted anything about the proper way to steam milk. I've only described what is possible and how it works. I've never one included my opinion on how I personally like to steam milk. I have described industry accepted concepts on using real steaming equipment. How many times do I have to lay this out for you?
@renix How many times do I have ot lay this out for you.. no one cares what your opinion is. Move on kid. Get over it. Youre not doing anything but wasting time. Just because your guild, a group of like minded people, agree on something ,doesnt mean every does. Get over it. youre opinion doesnt matter hre.
@Hidepride What is it you think is my opinion, what IS my opinion? What do you think you are disagreeing with me about? You must have rocks in your head.
@renix That aerateing milk is optional..... now technically you dont HAVE to aerate uit, but its crap quality if you dont. Now heres an idea, sho... go away. Your opinion and argument has been entirely pointless... no one here gives a shit what your club says. Your club cares, go talk to them.
@Hidepride This whole time you've agreed with me but somehow convinced yourself that you didn't. I actually wrote a few posts back that aerating milk was correct, and I've continually explained that I have not posted anything about how to steam milk. RIF: READING IS FUNDAMENTAL. My ORIGINAL point was that you don't have to to aerate it to steam it, which is not my opinion or a group's opinion. You don't get to tell me when leave, dear.
@renix Yet i have many many times...dear. You can looking for a fighgt. You didnt come looking to educate or learn... you came looking for a fight. So go on hun.... your opinion is not needed nor wanted. shoo kiddo
@Hidepride So you have no comments about the fact that I don't disagree with you about aerating milk and never did? That seems somewhat important. You instead change the subject to "go away" and what you think I'm looking for. Both are irrelevant. I didn't realize you owned this comment space and had rights to direct who comes and goes, and when. You don't know how to structure an argument coherently and chooses not to respond. You're out of gas and can't win so your option is "shoo, dear"
@renix No hun, you dont seem to understand. I dont hat you have to say. I didn from the begining. we're not having a debate, we're having a you started a fight and im telling you to go fuck yourself. Im not running out of fuel, im not giving you fuel. Get it through your thick skull. All you did in your 'debate' was slander me and give an opinion. Who cares? your club... so go talk to them. your silly little fight isnt working.
@Hidepride "I never commented on the right way to make a latte. Aerating is correct. Perhaps you should take some notes on debate and how to rebut what's being argued instead of changing the subject.
@Hidepride Also, you spelled "aerateing" wrong once again. You didn't win the spelling bee, huh? Doesn't look like you'll be moving up from being a lowly barista any time soon with those skills.
@renix I ran out of room so this is going to be backwards, this is the second reply. The machine that I originally leanrt on was at a local coffee shop. I don't remember the name of the machine sadly... but it was horrible for beginners. Being my first job, I was a beginner ;) Now, my question is... which machine are YOU referring too? Because I do have a few more answers- though im sure your guild membership is more than enough to out weigh any answer i throw at you... in your opinion
@AwkGirlProbz There will be some cavitation but nothing compared to stretching while introducing air. I have more of a clue than you'll ever hope to have(z).
@renix "uneducated teenie girlies" Okay, I'm far out of my teens, and definitely educated. That just proves that you have no idea what you are talking about.
@AwkGirlProbz Far out of your teens with a degree and you're using that to push buttons on a fake espresso machine and pour syrup. Either way, it was a generalization to all Sbx baristas. I obviously don't know you personally. But I do know is what little knowledge any and all Sbx baristas have. No need in pretending.
@Hidepride Renix seriously has no clue what is going on at all. I feel like this person was denied a job at Starbucks or something and they're just really upset. Haha.
@AwkGirlProbz What's better is uneducated teeny Starbucks girlies trying to pretend they know about something they clearly do not. Like a guy working at Pep Boys for $8/hr thinking they can get a job racing NASCAR. They know it all!
@renix You know that most starbucks baristas are college graduates right? And that most starbucks partners are long-term partners right? And thta most starbucks partners will eventually move up in the company. You REALLY need to get over youself.
Trust me. You are that girl. As being a barista, when you order a large ass latte, you are going to get a lot of fucking foam. What do you think happens when you steam milk? It foams up. So my dear you are making barista waste there soy milk which is expensive. Also! There is a technique that goes into steaming milk which if done wrong will make the milk taste like shit. And th

To the person who said the stores on campuses don't get "trained" on how to work at Starbucks. You are incorrect. I worked at a licensed store for 2 years, and had the proper training. I now work at a "real" Starbucks and have been there for 3+ years.
AwkGirlProbz 2 months ago
@AwkGirlProbz Unfortunately, being trained at Sbx doesn't train you how to be a barista since your machines are all automated. You're more like drink mixers. By an E61 head espresso machine for your house and you'll realize how little you actually know about coffee.
renix 1 month ago
@renix No need to be uppity. At the end of the day, we're all just making shit drinks for people who most likely cannot even tell the difference. I'm speaking for myself, but I honestly couldn't care less about "real" espresso machines or how little I know about coffee. I'm just a full time student working part time at the bux for a little cash, feeding their cult culture and entitled customers (like the girl in the above video), until I move on to bigger and better things.

You can either have you
countrygirlatheart53 2 months ago
@countrygirlatheart53 If you train to be a real barista you'll learn that real espresso machines (not the fake ones with garden hose size steamers) will allow you to steam milk into microfoam that looks like wet paint. Even if someone wants zero foam you just sink the wand to the bottom and let it sit.

canascot02 2 months ago
@canascot02 Actually we dont hire for license stores. Those baristas arnt even partners. They dont get our discounts or benefits because... theyre not starbucks baristas. The people that work at licensed stores are hired by licensed stores, not starbucks.
Hidepride 2 months ago
@Hidepride I looked it up because I was positive I was right, guess I'm wrong. But it does say they receive the same training.
canascot02 2 months ago
@canascot02 Considering that they dont even carry the same products, and that their trainers arnt trained by us. My assumption is that their store managers are trained by us and that is the full extent of it. I am a barista trainer, I know the material given to me for training new baristas, there is no way all if it is given to licensed stores. I base this simply off of product (be it edible or not)
Hidepride 2 months ago
@Hidepride What is a Starbucks barista trainer? They know nothing about coffee, so obviously trainers aren't telling them anything. Do you practice mixing proportions? You should get BGA certified so you can actually know something about being a barista.
renix 1 month ago
@renix Going down and reading all your comments, clearly YOU don't know much about starbucks. Ill educate you. Starbucks uses many different machines in its stores. Which machine in which store will depend on what local demand is. Starbucks still has the fun machines where you load espresso for each drink. In any coffee house you have to airate the milk to make it sweet. I've worked at other coffee shops. I've been to other ones. I study the industry independently. You dont know it all.
Hidepride 1 month ago
@Hidepride 1) Sbx only uses removable portafilter machines in very very few stores, like at Pike Place Market. Even higher end locations which offer a Clover machine do not use removable portafilter machines (the ones you refer to as "the fun ones"). 2) "Airate" is not a word. You do not have to aerate the milk to heat it up, which was my point. If you dip a wand beneath the surface and there will be no introduction of air - and thus no cavitation causing foam. Good try, kid!
renix 1 month ago
@renix Are you a barista at all? Because even in those horrible garden hose machines you hate so much you dip the wand below the surface of the milk. You still need to /aerate/ the milk to make a latte... because the milk its self doesnt just need to heat up. The flavor of the milk actually changes. Not just the fact that is has foam... but the flavor of the milk itsself.
Hidepride 1 month ago
@Hidepride That's a function of a fake steam wand made to require little no skill or training. True about the flavor, but I'm not talking about the flavor of the milk. Let's just say I help some cafe owners with their coffee quality. :)
renix 1 month ago
@renix You just admitted that youre wrong... in different words. In order to make a GOOD drink you need sweeter milk. In order to do that, you gotta /aerate/ it. And lets just say youre unemployeed.
Hidepride 1 month ago
@Hidepride Instead of embarrassing yourself you should just ask questions. Making statements based on an empty knowledge base gets you nowhere. Let's continue your education: Aerating milk, good job spelling it right by the way, changes the viscosity of the milk - which in turn changes the mouthfeel. It does not change the flavor. The increased temperature does however change the flavor. Any other brain busters?
renix 1 month ago
@renix So, rather than doing what youre doing you want me to do what you want me to do? A do as I say not as I do thing. Well hunny, (hunny not honey) When you get your own cafe you can make a drink however you like. But in the mean time, the REAL way to make a drink is this way... no matter what authority you claim to be. My guess is you either hate capitalism or were fired from starbucks. I could be wrong but you got beef and clearly seek out fights. thats fine
Hidepride 1 month ago
@Hidepride I never commented on the right way to make a latte. Aerating is correct. Perhaps you should take some notes on debate and how to rebut what's being argued instead of changing the subject.
renix 1 month ago
@renix You came here and started a fight with a few people. You use your opinion and claim it as fact.... yet if anyone says anything besides your OPINION theyre uneducated. Thats a great debate hun. I've listened to you, I really have. And I made the educated decision that youre full of it based on my years of experience in the field. Ive been making espresso drinks since I was in high school. Youre opinion has been heard and discarded. Move on
Hidepride 1 month ago
@Hidepride The fact that you don't realize that it's not just my opinion shows that you are uneducated. The concepts I've described are part of the BGA standards and/or can be found in the SCAA library. I'm sure that since you are a self-proclaimed experienced barista you are a member of both, right? You honestly do not know how to counter a claim, you're just talking about the argument we're having instead of proving that I'm wrong. That's not debate. I can easily prove why you are wrong.
renix 1 month ago
@renix Proof my dear requires sources. Youve given opinion. I dont tend to argue with opinions of taste. If you like your milk in that manner, thats youre taste. Congrats to you. Picks fights over it on youtube? what a big boy you are. Most of us dont really care what you think.
Hidepride 1 month ago
@Hidepride I haven't posted anything regarding my personal preferences. My milk is "that" manner? If for some reason you've confused my explanations of the mechanics of steaming for a declaration that a latte is to be made without aerating or that it's the correct way you've gone and confused yourself again. What I've posted as sources back up my claims for steaming mechanics, both the BGA and SCAA websites are available to you, though the SCAA may cost you.
renix 1 month ago
@Hidepride Just to give you an example of personal proof that Sbx baristas don't know anything I will ask a simple problem solving question. If you are pulling a shot and it's pulling a tad slow, and you don't want to change the grind, what's your other option? I guarantee you Sbx won't teach you this basic information.
renix 1 month ago
@renix Well hun, CAN vary depending on what machine youre using. My normal machine you cannot adjust the water (well you can but you have to climb under the cabinet and it would void the warranty). But there are machines where you can adjust the water flow. You can also adjust the beans, which is most commonly down when in a rush. I have seen baristas force stop it, but this shouldnt be done when making a drink. On other machines that ive used, where it wasnt automated, you had to judge.
Hidepride 1 month ago
@Hidepride I'm referring to any pump machine. I've used plenty of machines that use pumps ranging from cheap thermoblocks, E61's, Linea's, a Strada, Simonelli's, to a vintage Victoria Arduino lever. But to speak to your answer, there is no such thing as adjusting water flow on a pump machine. I'm not even sure how you "adjust beans". The question was what to do after you realize it's pulling slow without changing the grind. Point is, you don't know much and stop pretending that you do.
renix 1 month ago
@renix Oh Im sorry sweety, you CAN adjust the water on some machines. The water pressure and temperature. Both of which HIGHLY affect the shot quality. If the water is too cool the beans will not brew properly and you will get a more bitter shot, if the water is too hot the beans will saturate too rapidly and the shot will be too sweet and watery. Not all machines can this be adjusted so easily.
Hidepride 1 month ago
@Hidepride You're sorry for what? Not understanding that flow rate, pressure, and temperature are three separate things? You cannot change flow rate of the water. You can change the temperature and the pressure. The key fact is that you do not understand that water flow is not equal to pressure. Pretty basic stuff, not my opinion. It's fact. It's science.
renix 1 month ago
@Hidepride Your lack of understanding and resistance to admit it is the topic. It's a common practice of people who are very bright to introduce irrelevant points to a debate. This is not about my opinion. This is not about customer preference - at all. I'm simply explaining accepted industry knowledge to you (very basic might I add), of which you are not understanding and keep referencing my opinion. This is accepted factual information by every industry organization, I'm irrelevant here.
renix 1 month ago
@Hidepride I'm also not interested in automated machines. Those are for fake baristas so places like Panera Bread can offer latte's.
renix 1 month ago
@renix The beans in a hopper, if youre using an automated machine, dont always fall into the grinder. Sometimes as the beans get low they dont slide. If there is not enough weight pushing the beans down into the grinder the shot will be ruined because not enough espresso is being used. You adjust this by simply moving the beans around. Although when this DOES happen the shot is normally pulling too fast, not a tad slow.
Hidepride 1 month ago
@renix The point isnt what i do ro do not know, the point isnt what your guild does and does not know, the point IS my dear child.... that YOURE OPINION doesnt validate a multi-billion dollar company. Your guild isnt the authority, starbucks isnt the authority. DD isnt the authority, neither is mcdonalds nor carribu. The authority is the customer. And because the customers prefer different things, each customer goes where they are happiest. THAT wont change because you have an opinion.
