The Sponicks have a harder sound than the Shadows which I prefer. Listen to 'Ghost Riders In The Sky' by The Scorpions. In my opinion this is far better than the Shadows version.
I have nothing against the Shadows but they were a 'manufactured' group, individually chosen for their technical ability, to back Cliff Richard. To me something is lost in their recordings. I was about at the time and would explain it by, perhaps a lack of spontaneity. On the other hand I always disliked Cliff Richard, so I may be biased.
Sounds a lot like "Walk Don't Run" by the Ventures, but I think this band preceded that song. Their costumes are pretty avant garde for 1963. I really like this band
Jejejejejeje jajajajajaja. Tanta calidad como sentido del humor y un vanguardismo impresionante. Aleluya, que he descubierto a los Spotnicks. Gracias.
no hay nada como una buena stratocaster para tocar un pasodoble torero

En aquella época se llevaba mucho hacer versiones de canciones españolas, esta es España Cañí aunque un poco acelerada.

Greatest guitarrist: what about Alfredo Bojalil 'El Guero' Gil? Is he on the list? Los Panchos.
The Spotnics' sounds great!

the shadows were the best instrumental group ever.
but these guys could certainly play.
i was never keen on the ventures to be honest they were ordinary.

the SHADOWS did an upbeat disco sounding riders in the sky in the 70s.
i actually spoke to the bass player on the london based SCORPIONS riders track.
he thought as most do . that the shadows were so far ahead of everyone that most groups were blown away.
ill also add that the SPOTNICKS relied heavily on electronic enduced sound including a wired up drum kit.
as HANK B MARVIN has recently been voted amoungst the greatest guitarists by other guitarists theres not a lot to say.

I think they were great at doing what they did. Each band was great at their own style I think.
