If this child can coagulate information into a (rather thin) book and categorize it into four principles, then he is not thinking of an essentially new way forward for the Republican party. Rather, it is in is repeated chants of the same ideological slogans of so called "Classical Conservatism" that he shows the depth of his understanding of the topic at hand. Okay, look, he's not talking about opinions. He did research and found four common elements to conservative thinking, then wrote a short book about it. He may not be the most credible, but he is VERY insightful for his age. Also, if you watch his speech, you can tell that most (if not all) of the leading political figures in the room agreed with him, making his points credible.

Only the last two of his "principles" are conservative. The first two "Respect for the Constitution" and "Respect for Life" are common views held among most decent Americans. (Except for George W. Bush who tried to ruin and change the constitution every chance he had, and God help us if he succeeded which only time will tell). Respect for life does not mean only abortion!
Bush killed many many people, most of whom were not American, so therefore you could say conservatives have a respect for American life, but not if they're from other countries.
Let me be clear about what made Bush such a bad president. Its not only what he did with the power he had while in office, he also made it easier for any president that follows him to also use the expanded the powers of the executive branch to further the ruin of the constitution. Any conservative that says "but Bush wasn't a conservative" I say "then why did you vote for him!?"

If you had respect for life then you wouldn't wage war and would be reluctant to do so. That would kind of contradict the one of the principles of the Constitution: the power to declare war by the Congress and the power to command the military by the president. You can not wage war and hope to be fiscally responsible at the same time (with the hope of being victorious, that is) so that would be a contradiction as well. Not a good start.
The war on poverty is the longest war we have been in and it has never helped in the large part, it has cost us somewhere around 20 trillion$ since Johnson started it.
A regular war would be cheap compared to that. Government only squanders wealth it can't create it, that's why its best to make it very small.
Perhaps the answer is a compromise of the two. We start spending the money in a new way. How about we reduce the amount of welfare and instead spend the money investing in local communities. Or how about we do more to promote birth control. Unplanned children is linked, and I would argue the cause, of nearly all poverty. I agree they are not sustainable, but this problem has to be dealt with. Ignoring would be immoral.
Why don't we change these four priciples of conservatism to the true 4 "D's" of the conservative movement: Disrespect for the poor, Deception under the guise of the Constitution, Desire for wealth, and (fiscal) Disresponsibility. That is all I see of this party and anything else is just a ruse.
reagan destroyed the "war on poverty" by slashing taxes on the wealthiest - look at income inequality and relative income gains since reagan's policies came into play (and clinton was just a moderate version of reagan). the middle class was WAY WAY stronger before reagan, and we had a more progressive tax system under nixon (and all 20 century prez before) than we do now! the good 'ole days were more "socialist" (lol dumb repubs) than TODAY!
america was prosperous under reagan for white collars while destructive for blue collar ones. it's basic income inequality - when one demographic gains another loses, at least relatively speaking.

If this child can coagulate information into a (rather thin) book and categorize it into four principles, then he is not thinking of an essentially new way forward for the Republican party. Rather, it is in is repeated chants of the same ideological slogans of so called "Classical Conservatism" that he shows the depth of his understanding of the topic at hand. I personally enjoy quantum physics, but if I write a book of personal interviews and merely quote sources, but have NO experience in the actual arena of quantum theory (let alone any hypotheses of my own)... what credibility do I have? Okay, look, he's not talking about opinions. He did research and found four common elements to conservative thinking, then wrote a short book about it. He may not be the most credible, but he is VERY insightful for his age. Also, if you watch his speech, you can tell that most (if not all) of the leading political figures in the room agreed with him, making his points credible.
Also, if a 13-year-old says that 4+3=7, would you say that he's wrong because he doesn't have a degree in math?

If you had respect for life then you wouldn't wage war and would be reluctant to do so. That would kind of contradict the one of the principles of the Constitution: the power to declare war by the Congress and the power to command the military by the president. You can not wage war and hope to be fiscally responsible at the same time (with the hope of being victorious, that is) so that would be a contradiction as well. Not a good start.

The war on poverty is the longest war we have been in and it has never helped in the large part, it has cost us somewhere around 20 trillion$ since Johnson started it.
A regular war would be cheap compared to that. Government only squanders wealth it can't create it, that's why its best to make it very small.

Perhaps the answer is a compromise of the two. We start spending the money in a new way. How about we reduce the amount of welfare and instead spend the money investing in local communities. Or how about we do more to promote birth control. Unplanned children is linked, and I would argue the cause, of nearly all poverty. I agree they are not sustainable, but this problem has to be dealt with. Ignoring would be immoral.

reagan destroyed the "war on poverty" by slashing taxes on the wealthiest - look at income inequality and relative income gains since reagan's policies came into play (and clinton was just a moderate version of reagan). the middle class was WAY WAY stronger before reagan, and we had a more progressive tax system under nixon (and all 20 century prez before) than we do now! the good 'ole days were more "socialist" (lol dumb repubs) than TODAY!

Bush was interventionist, and pro-big state government. Those are not traditional republican values.

It is amazing that a 14 year old can give us the definition of conservatism yet the Republican party still has not figured it out. This kid is wise beyond his years. Michael Steele needs to pay some attention.

Yeah, the Democratic party sucked wind for a while and they will again. If you pay attention, it rolls in cycles. Everyone will be pissed with the Dems at the end of this run.
I vote Republican because everyone can't be on welfare.

There are a lot of conservatives and independent voters (and by conservatives, I don't mean Republicans only) that dislike/disliked Clinton.

I understand u or other "conservatives" didn't like him, but my point was that ur argument is flawed. People were not so discontent with dem. after his term that they voted rep. (and if so, they did purely for "moral" reasons, not economic) do you remember 2000 election(election fraud)?when did I say dem. couldnt be conservative?Ur beating around the bush.
