Are you kidding me when IGN says it's the best rhythm game ever?. I've played:

-DanceDanceRevolution (From DDR 4th to X2)

-In The Groove (1, 2 & 3)

-Pump It Up (From Exceed To Fiesta Ex)

-Beatmania IIDX (From Red To Lincle)

-Dj Max (Trilogy, Portable 1 & 2, Clazziquai, Black Square, Technika 1 & 2)

-Guitar Hero (1 & 2)

But I tried Patapon, and I can say it's the worst rhythm game ever. Where's the real music? These things only say Pa-Ta-Pon. IGN's reviewers don't know about real rhythm games.

@OryethOmnipotence Sorry to disagree with you but all those games I mentioned before are rhythm games, or do you think notes & arrows are pressed randomly? In those games you follow patterns according to BPM (this one helps to determinate tempo), & tempo is one of the important measures to tell how a rhythm is.

By the way, check Wikipedia and read the following articles: "Rhythm game","Music video game" & "Rhythm", then you can come to tell me if those games, are rhythm games or not.

Well sorry to disagree with you, but firstly, Patapon does "require players to press buttons in a sequence dictated on the screen"; therefore, it's a rhythm game. Secondly, Patapon's genres are "Rhythm" and "God", not "Rhythm" and "Music" or "Dancing" like the ones you mentioned.

Lastly, if you think 'those IGN reviewers don't know about real rhythm games, why don't you just go to IGN and apply for a job as a reviewer ?

@metale3 Rhythm, not music. You say tribal music style playing in the background isn't? It's actually more fun to me than those games listed, cuz theres actually a storyline and adventure to it. Also You can't have music without rhythm, but you can have rythm without music. rythm is depicted there by tapping the buttons in s sequenced manner. tapping too fast or too slow makes you lose your combo and altogether stop causing your troops to die.

@NightMareX30 Basically you're the deity of the Patapon tribe, and you control their army in battle by giving them commands using your "Talking Drums" which are called "Pata" "Pon" "Chaka" and "Don" You can give commands like "Attack" "Defend" "March" "Evade" etc...and to do so you press the specific button combo ,while keeping it on the beat of their singing, so to attack it's "Pata Pata Pata Pon" (which would be Square Square Square Circle.) then your guys attack whatever is in range.

The command I actually explained is "March" not Attack, so if you enter Pata Pata Pata Pon it tells your Patapons to move forward, sorry for the mix up. Attack is Pon Pon Pata Pon...I get mixed up sometimes, costs you in the game lol.
