will never forget the daily drive to work through the rolling hills near rotherham, you never knew what you would see burnt out in the field- one day a gte, the next an xr3i and sometimes a cossy. oh i dont miss that....
Every single person without exception who I knew with one of these had it nicked and written off. Not surprising though - went like shit off a shovel and could be started almost as easily with a screwdriver as with the key.
In the late 80's I was in my mid 20s and worked for a Local Authority. Through work I was able to lease an 8V GTE for £89 a month - fully insured! Best Value car I have ever had!
@jakeagusta VEHICLE ENQUIRY Services Provided By DVLA: DVLA The enquiry is complete The vehicle details for G301 GUJ are: Date of Liability 01 03 1998 Date of First Registration 01 08 1989 Year of Manufacture 1989 Cylinder Capacity (cc) 1998CC CO2 Emissions Not Available Fuel Type Petrol Export Marker Not Applicable Vehicle Status Unlicensed Vehicle Colour WHITE Vehicle Type Approval Vehicle Excise Duty Rate for vehicle 6 Months Rate £112.75 12 Months Rate £205.00
In its days this was the car to have ( if you could afford the insurance!) I paid a fortune to have a red G reg and later on a Met Grey H reg........... very fond memories. The 1st 1989 cars had the true cosworth engine, very fast. Then Vauxhall manufactured the engine from 1990 I believe. Im sure there will be many Ford drivers who disagree and say the only car then with a cossie engine was the sierra!
it had the Coscast head on the C20XE. The actual engine was desinged and build by Opel for racing. The stopped using the Cosworth head gaskets and started using their own GM Schmit kleine heads.

My first car was a 1989 red GTE 16v. Fun car to drive around corners if you like your back end kicking out;)
