Nigeria: Ijaw Youths Allege Genocide Over Military Action

mr, when german cities were destroyed, after the war, woman cleared the rubble with their bare hands, and the cities were built up again, Why dont u go and start taking a shovel and build roads, Instead of waiting for money that never comes?
and take care of urself, dont u have any pride? in africa only the woman work, whilst the men go round all day with their hands in their pockets, and play big time,
u need to shut up . theres a lot of construction going on in NIgeria. u need to stop walking around with inaccurate perceptions in ur head. Nigeria is one of the largest market for cement in the world. we are a fast developing country.

Very good, most of America's foreign aid was lost to corruption from the Tribal Chiefs, and lately, Somalians don't think they're getting their "fair share", so they've started STEALING it instead!
Third Worlders COULD make their own countries better, having had the same 2000 years as the rest of us, and some even having houses and artifacts from the First Worlders they chased out!
I never thought HUMANS would leave behind artifacts that later civilizations wouldn't understand, but it happened

Nigeria doesn't get ANY MONEY from E.U, OR USA! We once had huge debts but we paid off ALL of it from OUR OIL MONEY, so get your facts right. Germany and Japan were given HUGE amounts of money to rebuild after the war.The Germany economy had collapsed TOTALLY, so it WASN'T German money that rebuilt it. If you haven't been to Nigeria and seen things for yourself, and just believe Aljazeera etc, then that is very naive of you.
The money is used to pay Foreign Consultants and buy jeeps for them and buy software and buy buy buy till only a little is left which a few of our so called leaders use to shore up their power base.
Its important for us to help our selves, but, truth be told, if we did what is right will it not cause poverty in other countries?
its a shame how much nigerians are in denial, always giving excuses abt the state of the country. y'all need to wake up and do somthing. stop feeling embarrased when ever the country gets critical comment with regards to its ugly state.
now I know u're being ignorant, ignorant on not knowing the main issue with naija, ignorant on saying utter rubbish. lol what do u mean by "I have nothing to say to u...but i do have one thign to say?" really u really need help man.
"I consider that Nigeria is on the verge, on the brink of a massive implosion that will make what's happening in the Sudan child's play. We know there are movements for secession in this country. We know that everybody is preparing for the contingency of breaking up. International organisations are also studying the situation,".- Wole Soyinka, Africa's first Nobel Prize Winner for Literature, Reuters Alert, July 8, 2004.
This is the guy, the second in command that the IGBOS murdered in cold blood in the 1960's and circulated pictures of the dead man with his head been stamped on by the boot of an IGBO officer...And you expect the Hausas not to react--How arrogant, how barbaric and how childish...This Biafra people are just insane-PERIOD!!!!
This news casters are hyprocrites, their country spends billions for their troops o attack other countries..so why look at others own? Go to ur country!!
what a stupid thing to say. is nigeria at war? we have enough domestic problems as it is, no good road networks, no light, no good educational system, bad infrastructures and so on, yet the rulling clase up in the north pretends to be ignorant of our ills. spending billions on arms is another excuse to put money in their pockets! stop making comments about what happened in the sixties rather than what needs to be done to correct at least some of our domestic proplems.
Feudalism, conservatism, aristocratic hegemony and religious dogmatism are a sure antithesis to change. Culture like many other phenomenon of human existence is transient. The sincere acknowledgement of that fact while efforts a made to adjust to its realities will aid society's growth. If religious beliefs are against Fundamental human rights of individuals and claim moral authority, are these rights not consciencious and spiritual convictions that are universal? What is immoral about them?
i dont wanna be like these animal humans as you have seen them on the posted video above.they are good for nothing,no dreams, they have no clues about nothing except their salvage religion, dictators in their dark mind, stone age morons, you will never live confortable with this religious pschophant, religious age is about to pass, get stack in the barbaric life and be depressed for the rest of your precious life, ewu sharias.mmeeeheeeee malussss.
pay attetion fools, united state will reduce the importation of crude oil especially from the so called nigeria.once the bill is passed, nigeria and haters of my people will die of poverty, like how they use to.these dummies have no modern industries,no innovations no inventions,no technologies, still they are proud,by 2009 they will wait and see the worst of poverty ever, america is in a recession, they no longer wanna rely on foreign oil importation no more baby.
you hated igbos with a passion which i dont blame you . but i blame your ignorant, you fell to lay a blame where blames suppossed to be layed mumu, who stole 600billion from crude oil prodution, the hausas who left u r ass to die in abject poverty ,ewu.more poverty is coming it's a curse and a potion of crude oil share to your stupid people, who just now be wakening up for their garri rite, kuku.
hey wannabe, reading your previous comments,i feel you have something connecting you to nigerians and i think you are the one stuck in your believes and in ignorance......... and dont think america is gonna get energy independence thats maybe in 2020
you fucking stupid and you scared like fuck .you are blind cause you have no single sight .price of gas is $2.00.and mind you cars powered by compress air will be flooded into american market as cars powered by electric already in use.cars powerded by solar system wait and see ,you will shit in your dirty pant maggot.
Instead of sitting on your butts and posting bad comments on Nigeria, you should actually send some money to Nigeria and help them. I am proud to be a Nigerian, but i am not saying i am proud of Nigeria for going corrupt. I always believe that God will help Nigeria out of its predicament. Oh and cutie195, i am also a NIgerian, and i like to be known as just that.
Dr. E. C. Schwartzenbach wrote in the Swiss Review of Africa (February 1968), on the basis of an interview with a Nigerian Commissioner, whom he described as "one of the most impressive of the present military regime in Lagos":
"The [Nigerian] war [against Biafra] aim and solution...of the entire problem was to discriminate against the Ibos in the future in their own interest."
Such discrimination would include above all the detachment of those oil-rich territories in the Eastern Region which were not inhabited by them at the beginning of the colonial period, on the lines of the projected twelve-state plan. In addition, the Ibos' movement would be restricted, to prevent their renewed penetration into the other parts of the country. Leaving them any access to the sea, the Commissioner declared, was quite out of the question.
The State of Nigeria violates the political security of Biafrans especially as relates to human rights and freedoms. All the reasons and justification for the declaration of Biafra in 1967 still exist today, save for the fact that THERE EXISTS MORE CLARITY about the vindictive, malicious and malevolent intent and the unrelenting determination of the State of Nigeria to do lasting harm to the people and nation of Biafra.
you fucking stupid you have no idea about shit going on in the world ,you paranoid ugly looking human.you hate truth to be told.crude oil is going to be a history as the most powerful nation who uses most of the foreign crude oil is diverting into alternative energy.dumb.
have you ever thought in your peanut brain that some igbos DONT WANT TO BE THEIR OWN COUNTRY. not ALL igbos want to be let free from the nigerian government.
i mean come on. we are overly outnumbered more than 2:1 so i think you just want to start a pointless war!
if we go to war all the igbos will die and you will be sad that the same people you were trying to liberate will be DEAD! if we go to war, you better the first to offer up your life.
Since 1970, each successive Nigerian government has been more corrupt and more brutal than the one before it. Since the year 2000, Transparency International has ranked Nigeria (#1) as the most corrupt country in the whole world two times, and (#2), second most corrupt country in the world two times. Hausa/Fulani/Yoruba oligarchs have stolen massive amounts of money that most Biafrans cannot even imagine.
From Yakubu Gowon, to Mohammed, Shagari, Babangida, Abubakar, to Obasanjo and now Yaradua, it has been government of the thieves, for the thieves by the thieves. They have dumped some of this money in private accounts in Europe and used some of it to develop Abuja , Lagos , Ibadan , Sokoto, Kano , Bauchi, and Jos which they know are not your towns.
...and when did Portharcourt become the part of Biafra? Nobody from Portharcourt ever dreamed of becoming Biafrian or go with you Igbos. The state of Biafrian is all gimmicks AND IT WILL NEVER BE REALISABLE!
crude oil will be a thing of the past dummy, who uses most of the oil, americans.listen, fool before you start cursing with hatred towards your own brethren for sake of crude oil, america government starting from 2009 will minimize importation of crude for an alternative energy.
doodoo belly america is not africa for you information.once america agreed on a plan to invent or innovate an idea has nothing to stop it .you are ignorant stupid strugling to feed your stomarch, rambling monkey.
"In a further show of its insincerity, the government of Umaru Yar'Adua ordered an invasion by the Nigerian military to several peace loving Ijaw communities in Edo, Bayelsa and Ondo states..on June 8, 2008. The invading force carried out terrible atrocities such as rape, vandalism and murder before razing down houses..while they deceitfully call for a summit on the Niger Delta." - Jomo Gbomo Movement For the Emancipation of the Niger Delta (MEND) spokesman. Daily Sun. Wednesday June 11, 2008.
However, I will have you know that I love my nation but, the truth has to be told.
How come there is so much poverty?
and people of our own dear native land are refugees in many countries?
Nigeria produces oil and there is a boom right now at $120 per barrel of oil, meanwhile, our people have no faith in the system, the current admin in Ngr has not been there long enough for me to draw conclusions.
You feel we should run away from our problems, how is that trying to fix it? I got a visa to the US cuz I took the SAT's and passed and a school in the US decided to sponsor my education so get your shit straight, My parents are not public officials. Nigeria is flawed and i never said anything different, all i said is we fix the problems through other ways rather than breaking the nation apart dumbass. learn to read without your own bias.
don't get mad at me because you are frustrated and pathetic ...I am very proud of my country whether it is messed up now and do not hold it against me because I have high hopes for my country and do not want my country to be divided.
i hope the sultan is being honest and that his talk about women is not just rhetoric. the reporter should have mentioned how women are punished in northern nigeria, and how in the zamfara state, a husband can beat up his woman to the point where the wounds inflicted by him will not cause her to be hospitalized for 21 days! yeah, i hope this girls become empowered and achieve their dreams!
The documentary just struck me as quite disjoint. I just could not see the link between the initial Niger Delta report and the report that followed about education in the north. Seemed to be two completely different stories with almost no relation to each other.
Interesting, I am an Irish Film Student who has visited family i both Lagos and Ibadan numerous times. Nigeria appears greatly divided. Check out my video on an Ibadan school.
Being from Rivers State, the situation in our region is definitely saddening. Here I have know one else to blame for the problems there than the nigerian government and its corruption. I have given up on the govt. but I am looking towards us young nigerians to make a difference when it come to the niger delta situation and the overall corruption in our governments. Corruption is what is keeping us behind compared to the rest of the world.
Dont look up, do something. Islam and Hausa/Fulani/Yoruba oligarhy is ravaging your land you sit there and hope. Better find out what others are doing and join the struggle.
Onyibeb,it seems you have a difficult time reading, b4 you start talking shit about peoples comment make sure you take your time to read what was written "s-l-o-w-l-y" Anyway I wrote that I look "TOWARD" young people to make a difference and I am one of those young people and I AM doing something...i am not kidnapping innocent oil workers or killing
innocent people.I'm studying petroleum engineering so that me as a niger deltan can know how the oil industry works and know how to make a change
Onyibeb, I'm not sitting and hoping, I'm working my ass off. Nowhere in my comment did i use the word "hope", because I know the change in Nigeria WILL start from me & other young nigerians who have seen the mistakes that have been made and are more open to change those things.
By studying P.E. I believe I can make a change, I will be more involved in the oil industry and my voice WILL be heard & taken seriously. Now let me ask u, what are you doing?
u study in USA ,how did u get visa? how do u finance ur studies, is it from stolen govt funds from Nigeria? is ur Dad or Mum a public official or their friend? are u insensitive to the plight of ur nation bsce u are hoping to grow up and join in pilferage or is it bcse u dont see?.
Why are u not studying in one of our numerous univsty? is it bcse, u lost faith in them or u have money to waste?
Tell the truth about Nigeria. we are not one people, its like Ireland ,if separate, will be better
Native of Africa you are a dimmwitted moron, I am not priviledged i grew in the dirt of shams of the niger delta, first of all you do not know me, so everything you have said is baseless, you have to be illiterate, go back and read what i wrote from the very beginning and do not take my words out of context. Nigeria does not have to divide, you all talk all this shit but have nothing to back it up with. I studied in Unilag fool, so get your shit right, you are a pathetic excuse for an african
I am a nigerian woman and I am happy to know that this sultan is well versed and wise. I hope that the notherners begin to encourage this more. Education is really the foundation to empowerment and I am happy to see that things are changing.
Anyone who calls this documentary Propoganda is either stupid or in plain denial of the harsh realities of life in the niger delta region. The main occupation in my village is fishing yet with the frequent oil spillages, the price of fish is rising by the minute. because we are not in nigeria does not mean we should become ignorant of life in present day niogeria. The cost of living has tripled compared to the days of the military regime sometimes i wonder what is the use??
For an SABC reporter to so casually divide Nigeria into 2: Muslim Nigeria vs Christian Biafra on the back of your naive propaganda. Basically, an RSVP to historic vultures in the Western & Islamic worlds to scramble for the Delta! Just as Nigeria starts to smell a bit of hope, some cursed bastard from within is intoxicated by the stench in their gut of that deadly sin that is greed. May an endless and peaceful wind of peace destroy your ghastly odour and may God heal your rotten underbelly.
it is sad on how corpt we are due to thiefs in power to all my young political minds out there it is time for use to come togehter and change our country unity and being our brothers keeper is what we need to change that country.( speaking is your new president of Nigeria 2023)
now, before anyone jumps to any conclusion, let's wait and see how the govt. spends the money allocated to the niger-delta.i personally see no problem if they want to boost the capalities of our security agencies based in the region as most of the militia groups have been infiltrated by criminals, but i seriously doubt that they'll spend 99% percent of those funds on security.besides, the defence budget in different from this.
you're the one that's a big moron.hey, how's your "glorious biafra" and your leader?it seems we've gone a bit soft on traitors.anyway,i really hope he and filths like you rot in jail for life.
So the fact that the Igbos are one of the three largest cultural group in NIGERIA means nothing to you right? Also I don't see a country called Biafra on the map. since Biafra as a country does not exist, I suppose the Ibos are part of "junk"
Please... speak for urself. I could have sworn Biafra only came into existance and lasted for less than 3 yrs. Igbo and Biafra ARE NOT the same. Biafra is the name of "dead" state... igbo is a heritage. Don't demean our heritage.
jantaman, it is this type of ignorance that has made it difficult for nigeria to progress. like "maceike" said don't demean the igbo heritage, if people like yourself are allowed to secede, your new country will dissolve into anarchy and the more i think about it, you all would actually be doing nigeria a big favor, the less ignorant ppl there are the better. again don't demean other igbos, and speak for yourself alone
You need to accept the fact that nigeria is a failed nation, excuse my ignorance for believing that.
The case the Biafrans are making is very simple,... Take that junk called nigeria and try to breath some life into it. My people have been mistreated, cheated on and ignored.
"enough is enough" The MASSOBs has started a crusade to reclaim my mother land, and I'm all for it.
We the Biafrans will see it through or die trying.
I am a niger deltan just like u are and u think i do not know whats going on, u are a pussy for wanting to run away frm the problem and not try to find ways to fix it...a coward at best, u think dividing the country is going to fix things, like you said you are ignorant and i'll add stupid because that kind of ignorance cannot be excused. I figure that talkin' 2 ignorant ppl like u is just waste of my time. and correction, i think you have a hard time spelling its "cutie195"
You just don't get it, i hate to believe you're as stupid as your written words are.
Those who don't know their past are definitely clueless about their future.
O.K Here's a brain teaser for you....If you can name or give me one progress that has been made in nigeria, just one out of your so called many, then i will buy into your Bull Shit.
By the way,i didn't misspelled your name, the point was intended.
To start with, the country you call your own (which I know it isn't) is already dissolving into anarchy; but you speculate about the one you dont even know-fear of the unknown. And to make matters worse you show ignorance of what is happening talking about reading Petroleum Engineering. My sister, the problem is not the technology to drill the oil, the problem is who controls the proceeds. Yar'dua is petroleum minister, did he read P.E? Another Yar'dua heads NNPC, did he read PE? Sister grow up!
don't speak for all igbos. speak for yourself and the igbos that don't see them selves as nigerian but as biafra. I'm Igbo and i see myself as a nigeria and biafra(even though it doesnt't exist in the map).
So you are probally from Norway or residing there and you are saying that there no parts of Norway that is "shitty"? Also have you ever stop to think why parts of Nigeria, Norway and millions other places in the world is "shitty"
rkn4849, you have to be a very ignorant individual to sit there and make those comments, I am a nigerian woman and will be very happy to tell you that we as nigerians have nothing to prove to ignorant types like yourself. You regurgitate what the T.V has told you but have no initiative to think for yourself, i'm sure you've never been to nigeria but you are quick to talk shit.
To sum up my comment i will be blunt, you are a moron, an ignorant uncultured bafoon, "facts" can be cooked up by the media, the media only shows you what they want you to see, so how about you use your common sense and reasoning and start using that thing you call a brain. There is the good and bad side to every nation in the world, they all have issues like homelessness, poverty and even corruption...etc. The bias images the media shows you does not define me, my people and my country.
okay i like the sultan of sokoto and what his doing. i'm going to nigeria in 2010 and until i see the truth about what going i'm not about to believe what the western world says because they give us some bull crap and say it's true. people says that yardua is actually doing something and now this vid says his not doing anything so i'm not going to believe anybody until i see it with my own 2 eyes.
Please... don't be ignorant. There are plenty of other sources that can confirm Nigeria's "terrible" state. As for sounding "western", wouldn't u say that u sound western?
i truely love al jazeera, but dont like u guyz sayin negatives abt my country, is ur country perfect? i guess u are from iraq or Middle east, so dont criticise others look at ur own problems
i would like to know where u are from, its hard to believe people believe everything they see on tv, so if they said carmels fly in sokoto u would believe that, that is if u know where that is
What the hell is wrong with the Nigerian government??? If they spend that 3 billion on infrastructure and education they will definitely see a return in the form of human capital.
In 1789, during the French Revolution, the masses BURNT down all the symbols of the tyranny that was crushing them. They BURNT down the monarchy's castle (Bastille where prisoners had been languishing), destroyed relevant buildings where the monarchy kept the weapons which usually made them powerful. They took the weapons and the monarchy was no longer able to defend itself. The masses beheaded the king and his monarch staff then took back power, wealth and all that belonged to the People.
great! good job .. keep it up =)

If religious beliefs are against Fundamental human rights of individuals and claim moral authority, are these rights not consciencious and spiritual convictions that are universal? What is immoral about them?

Okoroman 3 years ago
Such discrimination would include above all the detachment of those oil-rich territories in the Eastern Region which were not inhabited by them at the beginning of the colonial period, on the lines of the projected twelve-state plan. In addition, the Ibos' movement would be restricted, to prevent their renewed penetration into the other parts of the country. Leaving them any access to the sea, the Commissioner declared, was quite out of the question.
Okoroman 3 years ago
The State of Nigeria violates the political security of Biafrans especially as relates to human rights and freedoms. All the reasons and justification for the declaration of Biafra in 1967 still exist today, save for the fact that THERE EXISTS MORE CLARITY about the vindictive, malicious and malevolent intent and the unrelenting determination of the State of Nigeria to do lasting harm to the people and nation of Biafra.

if we go to war all the igbos will die and you will be sad that the same people you were trying to liberate will be DEAD! if we go to war, you better the first to offer up your life.

Okoroman 3 years ago
From Yakubu Gowon, to Mohammed, Shagari, Babangida, Abubakar, to Obasanjo and now Yaradua, it has been government of the thieves, for the thieves by the thieves. They have dumped some of this money in private accounts in Europe and used some of it to develop Abuja , Lagos , Ibadan , Sokoto, Kano , Bauchi, and Jos which they know are not your towns.

Cutie 419,
Your choice of words is noted.
Thanks for your kind words. cutie419

i hope the sultan is being honest and that his talk about women is not just rhetoric. the reporter should have mentioned how women are punished in northern nigeria, and how in the zamfara state, a husband can beat up his woman to the point where the wounds inflicted by him will not cause her to be hospitalized for 21 days! yeah, i hope this girls become empowered and achieve their dreams!
suchard44 3 years ago
The documentary just struck me as quite disjoint. I just could not see the link between the initial Niger Delta report and the report that followed about education in the north. Seemed to be two completely different stories with almost no relation to each other.

Onyibeb,it seems you have a difficult time reading, b4 you start talking shit about peoples comment make sure you take your time to read what was written "s-l-o-w-l-y" Anyway I wrote that I look "TOWARD" young people to make a difference and I am one of those young people and I AM doing something...i am not kidnapping innocent oil workers or killing
innocent people.I'm studying petroleum engineering so that me as a niger deltan can know how the oil industry works and know how to make a change
cutie195 3 years ago
Onyibeb, I'm not sitting and hoping, I'm working my ass off. Nowhere in my comment did i use the word "hope", because I know the change in Nigeria WILL start from me & other young nigerians who have seen the mistakes that have been made and are more open to change those things.
By studying P.E. I believe I can make a change, I will be more involved in the oil industry and my voice WILL be heard & taken seriously. Now let me ask u, what are you doing?

For an SABC reporter to so casually divide Nigeria into 2: Muslim Nigeria vs Christian Biafra on the back of your naive propaganda. Basically, an RSVP to historic vultures in the Western & Islamic worlds to scramble for the Delta! Just as Nigeria starts to smell a bit of hope, some cursed bastard from within is intoxicated by the stench in their gut of that deadly sin that is greed. May an endless and peaceful wind of peace destroy your ghastly odour and may God heal your rotten underbelly.

So the fact that the Igbos are one of the three largest cultural group in NIGERIA means nothing to you right? Also I don't see a country called Biafra on the map. since Biafra as a country does not exist, I suppose the Ibos are part of "junk"
bluest29 4 years ago
bluest29,
I strongly cautioned anyone, not to get it twisted, and you just did that.(shame on you)
You can search the world over and look at any map you chooses , Ibos are Biafra and Biafra is Ibo and no one can take that away.
jantamanta 4 years ago
Please... speak for urself. I could have sworn Biafra only came into existance and lasted for less than 3 yrs. Igbo and Biafra ARE NOT the same. Biafra is the name of "dead" state... igbo is a heritage. Don't demean our heritage.
maceike 4 years ago
jantaman, it is this type of ignorance that has made it difficult for nigeria to progress. like "maceike" said don't demean the igbo heritage, if people like yourself are allowed to secede, your new country will dissolve into anarchy and the more i think about it, you all would actually be doing nigeria a big favor, the less ignorant ppl there are the better. again don't demean other igbos, and speak for yourself alone
cutie195 3 years ago
hey, cunt195
You need to accept the fact that nigeria is a failed nation, excuse my ignorance for believing that.
The case the Biafrans are making is very simple,... Take that junk called nigeria and try to breath some life into it. My people have been mistreated, cheated on and ignored.
"enough is enough" The MASSOBs has started a crusade to reclaim my mother land, and I'm all for it.
We the Biafrans will see it through or die trying.
jantamanta 3 years ago
I am a niger deltan just like u are and u think i do not know whats going on, u are a pussy for wanting to run away frm the problem and not try to find ways to fix it...a coward at best, u think dividing the country is going to fix things, like you said you are ignorant and i'll add stupid because that kind of ignorance cannot be excused. I figure that talkin' 2 ignorant ppl like u is just waste of my time. and correction, i think you have a hard time spelling its "cutie195"

CUNT195,
You just don't get it, i hate to believe you're as stupid as your written words are.

Well for 1, the country has already been in democracy for 9 years. So put a sock in it janta.
seg162 3 years ago
To start with, the country you call your own (which I know it isn't) is already dissolving into anarchy; but you speculate about the one you dont even know-fear of the unknown. And to make matters worse you show ignorance of what is happening talking about reading Petroleum Engineering. My sister, the problem is not the technology to drill the oil, the problem is who controls the proceeds. Yar'dua is petroleum minister, did he read P.E? Another Yar'dua heads NNPC, did he read PE? Sister grow up!

WEAPON OF THE DOWNTRODDEN
Fire is the ultimate weapon, dreaded by all tyrannies
For, while guns, bombs or even missiles can successfully be used,
It is always the tyrant who owns them in greater in numbers and kills
Nevertheless, a simple fire as hot at magma that's not cooled,
Is a fire, burning strong and sure,
A fierce fighter ready for battle.
Alas! not a verse can tell to the full,
The might of fire, weapon
of the downtrodden!
