For submerging your head, swimmers ear plugs will keep the mud out of your ears as will a latex hood. I wear goggles to. You are depriving yourself from a very fulfilling experience.
Used to do head plunges in the old puddle so no stranger to full coverage. small ear plugs probably the best option. Don't think I could stand hoods or goggles. Anyway definitely not the time of year here for puddling.. it will have to wait.

The mud is from a different place - completely different material. Its mineral based very fine crushed sand whereas the other soil was mostly organic.
