I see there is no shortage of idiots commenting on Rush's lifestyle and success. He wasn't rich when he was young. He MADE his way in life. You're eaten up with jealousy. Why is that? George Bush Jr. didn't make the grades that were necessary for admission to Yale University, but Barack Obama had to work his ass off to get into Columbia & Harvard. yes, indeed you are right to want AA gone, and while AA didn't take your exams by sitting in the seat you wrote them in it put you in the driver's seat (or the catbird seat) when it came to formatting the grades you earned into an admissions letter to a school that either you or someone of color to go where you "might" ordinarily never been to. And Barak, eho as R. Wright says, "KNOWS..." what, we're still not sure -is a classic example.

And this is why as a black person I want affirmative action gone so that people like you can come up with another excuse for my success. Actually during my interview for my current position, the artistic director even noted that he was pleased to see I already had 5-7 years of experience in the field, because of me working with high-school students in performing arts. I like directing and coaching young people. Whenever I saw an opportunity arise I took it. When I got into the U of MN at age 18, not only were my high-school grades up to par, I had studied music for 13 years with a piano/vocal instructor since I was 5 years old.

affirmative action is out of control.i work at a place that requires a test and we actually have hired blacks who scored in the 60s (not even passing) over the dreaded white male who scored in the mid 90s.
Yeah, I understand the good intentions behind it but it's completely unfair when that happens. However, I think a lot of companies hire black people over whites to look more diverse and fair so they have more appeal with people.
@aintisaword in my companies case there has been a backlash for not hiring the leading candidates and hiring based on skin color but in their defence if they dont do that once in awhile then they will have special interests groups at their front door in protest.in this case you now have a guy who scored really high sitting at home and looking for work while another man who actually failed the test fills his position.
The thing is, you also don't see that it insults minorities like me, who work hard and was taught to have that workmanship, and independence. And you may not believe this, but I am a black female, who IS against affirmative action. I honestly and actually a lot of minorities will tell you that we don't want to be a "minority puppet" for any company. Also, (even though I am a black person who is not for Affirmative action), please keep in mind that when you do see a minority with a good education, or a good job, that it's not always affirmative action that got them there. Maybe they actually did qualify. Some of us minority did actually have good parents who taught us the workmanship and to be a productive member of society in the right way and for the right reasons.

My friends thought my parents were too hard on me. But they taught me respect, kindness, civility, and workmanship. They didn't have affirmative action where they came from (thank god), but the values were instilled in them at a young age, and they instilled them in my siblings and I at young ages.

Affirmative action is an embarrassment for stigmatized African Americans (this is debatable, and I'm open to debate). Rush Limbaugh is an embarrassment for American politics (while you probably agree with me...still debatable). studies show that applicants for a job that have black sounding names usually dont get a call back even if they have better qualifications than a white persons. so people say no to blacks all the time. and affirmative action is not a pro black policy more than blacks qualify. in fact AA benefits white women more than any other group.

yes, indeed you are right to want AA gone, and while AA didn't take your exams by sitting in the seat you wrote them in it put you in the driver's seat (or the catbird seat) when it came to formatting the grades you earned into an admissions letter to a school that either you or someone of color to go where you "might" ordinarily never been to. Actually during my interview for my current position, the artistic director even noted that he was pleased to see I already had 5-7 years of experience in the field, because of me working with high-school students in performing arts. I like directing and coaching young people. Whenever I saw an opportunity arise I took it. When I got into the U of MN at age 18, not only were my high-school grades up to par, I had studied music for 13 years with a piano/vocal instructor since I was 5 years old.

My friends thought my parents were too hard on me. But they taught me respect, kindness, civility, and workmanship. They didn't have affirmative action where they came from (thank god), but the values were instilled in them at a young age, and they instilled them in my siblings and I at young ages.

Affirmative aciton was not there in my lonely room in high-school doing my homework for me, when my parents were so strict they would not allow me to go on a sleepover. Affirmative action, didn't take my exams for me. Affirmative action did not participate in class discussions. I can get places on my own.

And vouching for the fact that minorities don't hate whites. Some people of every race hate others. It's unfortunate but I'm glad that PEOPLE like us exist no matter the race.

We shouldn't be chosen for a job, to "make a company" look good. We should be chosen because we deserve it. Because they really think we can do the job. That we qualify. Personally I think it's an insult to me to be chosen for a job simply because my skin is "brown".

studies show that applicants for a job that have black sounding names usually dont get a call back even if they have better qualifications than a white persons. so people say no to blacks all the time. and affirmative action is not a pro black policy more than blacks qualify. in fact AA benefits white women more than any other group.
