I can really use info like this! My stint in rehab was a short (1 1/2 mos.) due to lack of funds. I didn't even learn to transfer to a car until I had to to leave the hospital upon checkout. 4 years and still so much to learn! Thank you!!!
I decided to leave the wheelie bars on my new chair. So far I haven't ended up on my back once in a whole year! But they do interfere with moves like this. I can reach and take 'em off. I'm gonna give this a try! Folks give me crap about my "training wheels." But I'm a T8 T9 complete and CANNOT get back in my chair by myself!
I am well familiar with this video, I am in a wheelchair and have to do this all the time, I have very good upper body, Muscular, as well, one day i will get my son to video tape me, I look all the time for a strong built handicap person, but can't find any. I know they are out there, but have not found them yet. None of these are challenging to me, But may more for some.
Hey, this is useful stuff. I don't have an SCI, but there just aren't videos out there done by people with similar disabilities to mine. So I'm watching this repeatedly to try to figure out what might work for me (and for my chair, which is so tippy the techs are always trying to 'fix' it for my own good). That backwards descent down the big kerb I can probably do, and possibly the rest as well. Can be hard to tell what's legitimate concern and what's just fear when I think about trying it. :-)
how high is that curb? u cant really tell jus by watchin the video. jus wondering, do u know how to get up the really big steps? i can only do it if i got somethin to grab onto to pull me up.
when i first learned it. I tried to make all four wheel touch the ground at the same time. and if your learning u have to have someone holding the back bar so that u can get a feel and be reassured that you wont hit your head....
Thanks for posting this. I'll have to try it wearing a crash helmet. Never got that far where I got my rehab. I need to lose some weight before I can do it as easily as you do. Your video helps a lot.

Slowly! Very slowly! If done too fast, you'll just keep falling and hitting your head.
