  • I have the HD100 and in my opinion, you don't need a DOF adapter becasue the original lens has a beautiful DOF at 1.8....I have a DoF adapter and I'll not use it on the HD100 it's just extra weight! Beczuse most ppl use the 1.8 on the adapter anyways and the 16X lens already has the 1.8..so what the point of a dof adapter!

  • This video was a total waste of time- I know nothing more after I watched it! I don't know why ppl find it exciting just to show off their camcorder or equipment on youtube as if anyone cares! If you're gonna show a camera at least show what it can do!

  • Do you have a small lens attached to the JVC and then the letus extreme adapter attached to that? Can't quiet tell in the video. Thanks

  • Libec tripods are worthless. Use Cartoni.

  • @DuoCountyChannel2 Far from worthless; but if you can afford go for Cartoni.

  • looks like a mess from outside :)

  • if i buy letus extreme adapter only for my JVC GY-HD111e, is it all i need? or do i have to buy some lens mount or anything elseto make it work?

  • Yes, I too am curious as to whether or not having the Fujinon lens on there is a must. I'm looking to use the letus with my HD100 and am curious about the adaptation gear required. Did you need a specific piece of hardware to fix the letus to the end of the standard lens?

  • hey just go to letus direct and send a message to hien lee for any question you have. you just order an extreme or elite for hd 100 camcorder (82mm) and you are ready to shoot. . . almost. . you need to spend some time to understand how it works, how to set up and some practice. 3 happy hours maximum.

brothers Lee of letus are very nice guys and their suport is phenomenon.

  • I don't know if someone has already asked this, but why didn't you attach the Letus adapter to the body of the camera rather than the front of the lens? If it's possible, you would get a beautifully clean image, loose less light, and the thing wouldn't be so long.

  • as far as i know you just cannot plug it directly to body. ask hien lee at letus. 1/2 light loss is nothing. also guys dont forget to buy really sharp and bright AIS manual NIKON lenses. very important for really good results. narrow DOF sometimes becomes annoying so i suggest a bigger variety of lenses in order to control the size of depth of field. the wider angle the bigger depth. 28mm, 35mm, 50mm, 105mm or 135mm is the must have set.

  • the camera is a long as a tree. How can you adjust the Adapter's DOF?

  • I don't know about the camera, but that monitor is simply awesome. I have an ikan monitor, and I can't tell you how much it has improved the quality of my productions. It's a cost-effective means to achieve superior framing and focusing. I wouldn't fathom shooting without it.

  • Quiet honestly i am not here to argue with anyone. I used to work at B&H and sold all kind of camera accessories. I just thought i could give a valuable advice concerning the follow focus. The question about whether or not it is easy to focus with long lens is a whole different issue. Peace.

  • it is much easier to focus on a long lens than a wide on an hd camcorder. all the photographers know what I am talking about.

  • I assume you are talking about a long lens. Of course it is always difficult to focus right with that type of lens but again, it is up to videographer skills. I have seen wild animal cameramen shooting with very extreme long lens without the need of an AC. They have the skills to focus and expose at the right aperture all by themselves. Now, nothing stops you to have an AC who can pull focus while you do the framing. It is just not necessary, that's all...

  • Demos, i do photography for 17 years now. I have more than 20 lenses, let me tell you this. . I know how to focus manually very, very well. Focusing on hd camcorder is a pain in the ass. Definitely you need a follow focus, not necessary grosziel or pertoff. An indie or a redrock does good job either. A agree with you that a follow focus looks very pro.

  • Most camera manufacture advertise on their campaign ad cameras with follow focus to make their gears look impressive and cool. The truth is that you dont need it in video. Film folks HAVE to use those because the focal plan of the film camera is different from the CCD of the video assist. It is very crucial that they measure the distance between their subject in focus and the focal plan located somewhere in the camera. People shooting in HDV are not facing that challenge.

  • but............! what if you use a letus wxtreme adapter? for those who know what is it the follow focus is a must.

  • beautiful but expensive

    I have a similar setup

    a gy100 and two 35mm adapters

and a libec LS-60M but no monitor yet

    How much was your ikan>>??

  • sorry for this delay man. check at "bhphotovideo". com 350 usd if i remember well.

  • Looks good. Cant wait to see the test footage.

  • u tried the adapter on with the zoom lens? is that set up too heavy for hand held work?

  • I have more than 20 35mm lenses. i obviously haven't tested all of them yet but any zoom lens works nice. Of course a zoom lens is not the right choice for such a rig. 24mm, 35mm, 50mm, 105mm (all standard, not zoom) ff 1, 4 - 2, 8 is the ideal set. Yes it is heavy but it's but easy to handle.

I also need a follow focus, it is very important tool, Hien from LETUS informed me that soon they will produce a cool one.
