The power for all the servo's doesn't go through the arduino, it comes from the power supply. This was merely a test of a single servo. Although you can see the servo here is connected to the duemilanove 5v and gnd pins, in the arm they will connect to the power supply direct.
The Arduino can't provide that kind of current no matter where you plug it in but you can use it to control another circuit (like a motor shield) that can drive your motors.

Did you make this gripper yourself, or did you buy it from somewhere?
Im doing a similar project myself.. also with the arduino
