I was reminded of this song today at Subway as I was standing in a line behind a father and his 10 or 11 year old daughter (they were holding each other's hands and i can tell they're close and love and respect each other.)
I miss him.. Be grateful for your fathers. Wether you feel like they do or not, even if they said they hated you once, they do love you. No matter if youve been left by them or beaten by them. They do have love for you.

Very true song! I was lucky to have a wonderful father who loved me very much and loved my mother despite her faults...which take my word for she had alot!! My father taught me to love with my whole heart in the good and the bad which isn't always easy but I got lucky twice now and wound up with a man who loves me in the same manner :)

This song woke me up this morning...it was so amazing. At that moment i didn't really pay attention to the words butthe rythym and finally i started to pay attention and i swear I almost cried. But probably because I felt like he should be talking to my mom and dad. </3

This song really hit's home I have never had a real relationship with my mom she never had her priorities in order my dad left when I was four I saw him once when I was twelve he trys showing his affection on the phone but it is so akward But I know things will be a whole lot different with mt children especially my daugthers

I know how you feel. My father had to leave me when I was 6; I saw him again when I was 19, and was friends with him until he died when I was 28, but it still, nevertheless, there was a hole in my being. So I totally undertsand...God Bless.

I understand.
I've never been partial to my mother, and, I'm still not. Even when she and my father were going through a divorce, and I got to choose, I lived with him.
She's never really loved me.
But, for some reason, she called me up one day, told me she really listened to this song, and that she was sorry that she picked favorites when I was growing up.
However, the good thing, is my Dad heard her, and told her that she should have lived with this song as a guide book like he did. LUVUDAD

@narutoandhinata4eva9 Wow, interesting. My mom attempted scuicide when I was 7 or 8 and then moved from Illinois (where I live in) to Iowa. It's uncomfterable to see her in counseling. I want nothing to do with her. She ripped out half of my heart by doing that. Life is tough, but charish it. It's the only one you get. I really want a loving mom, but life can't be perfect. Ever. At all.

This is so true! I can't stand my own mother.. and now after a few therapy sessions I can't help thinking that it might not be a coincidence that I can't seem to have a relationship or any kind of positive romantic involvement with a man either!
If I ever have a daughter I will teach her how to love and be loved. I will teach her how to be loved. Having children is not just about keeping them fed. And most people who are parents don't have a clue about what they are doing.
