Very clever ideas this guy put to use! I wish I could think of ideas as cool and smart as he did. I'm glad it was posted on blazle.com or I would probably have never found it

I really hope someone stops him before he tries to go into open water with it. Swimming distance is only a few miles (if you even know which direction to swim) and it would be impossible to steer the island or propel it. It would completely disintegrate in a storm.
I've always wanted to do this, but I've never had an opportunity. If a chance ever arises, I'd like to help collect bottles for his island. Someone should make a Facebook group asking people to collect bottles from the street and mail them to him. Help the environment, and help this man achieve his amazing dream
WOW!!! This guy's AWESOME,...an example to the rest of us, to be SELF SUFFICIENT,.....kinda like the aztecs arrivin' in valley of mexico, and they put out baskets of soil onto the lake,.....this just proves we are all ONE, thank the Lord for the diversity and multicultural aspects that have survived on this BEAUTIFUL BLUE PLANET!! Thumbs up to ya owlandoak and thankin' my sweet sister Stephie for sharin'! = )
This guy is my hero! Reminds me of something an ant would do...but instead of bottles itd be dirt and such lol. Pretty fuckin clever and brilliant to see what humans can do.
I'm sorry, but your dad is an idiot. He gave up his JOB and FAMILY to build an island in Mexico? Did he ever check out the Mexican laws before he built it? If you are foreign born, you can't own land in Mexico. Your dads island is now a part of Mexico. No matter if your dad decides to "cut away and sail", it still belongs to Mexico./shakes head
@Ricterax it was a big decision for him I am sure...and yes we miss him dearly....but we all have to live our lives to fulfil our dreams or we will be stifled .....so yes we are proud of him although it's not a sacrifice I would make
He has a better set than the movie "Water World" in which I was an extra. But the Island he's made is not seaworthy. There is , however a mass of bottles and plastic floating in the Pacific Gyre between Hawaii and the US mainland that is immense, and an actual hazard to navigation. But since the open ocean swells are so violent and powerful , it would all have to be down in the doldrums at the equatorial region to have a calm enough sea surface to remain together. Interestingly enough now,cont-
Wow! This is an inspiration and I wish it was warm enough here, I would definitely try this.I bet if he developed a step-plan or something like that, he could sell that and he would never need to leave.Much.Brilliant!
My dad has always been a traveller....still searching for his own peace I suppose...most of us feel we can find it on our doorstep...some of us have to look further....he has not really left us....we all lve him for the person he is.
I am so jealous - like if you agree!! xD
