@Moraldo6 it's not his dad, it's his older brother, in this series. the same actor plays his birth father in degrassi junior high. but in this series, he plays griff's older brother. griff lives with his brother because his parents are dead. by the time degrassi junior high rolled around, griff became wheels and they used the same actor to play his birth father. i know, it's confusing, lol.
@checkerblob Yes you have to love someone, and give him love when he's alive, today and not in a month or a year or later.Life is today even if it is difficult sometimes, and love is today and time wasted is wasted.Love you don' t give today is wasted, lost.
I notice in the stories with Danny the crossing guard, the Degrassi kids take a completely different route to school. In almost all the other stories, they turn the corner on the real De Grassi St, and walk towards the school which is on Boulton. In these stories, its at the top of a hill. If you look on maps of Dundas and Queen St, which are the major streets near Degrassi and Cummings, there isn't any road like this. These were filmed in another part of the city.
@FlorrieDugger I posted it in another vid. It turns out it's Eastwood Rd, which is the street that Gerard changes into east of Coxwell Ave. The road curves north because of a cemetary at the bottom of the hill. There isn't a school in the area at all. Funny how one part of the story has them at the proper location (passing Degrassi Grocery walking towards Dundas Jr Public), but then when Danny's part comes up, they're way out in the east end of Toronto! :)
If you use the street view of google maps, you can take a look. Just punch up eastwood rd, toronto. There's even crossing guard in the images! I think it was photographed late last year, so it's recent. The houses look almost the same, maybe a little painting here and there.
Look at the intersection of Eastwood and Bowmore. I usually just type in the street name, and city, then put the little man (street view icon) down into the area I want to look at. The curve occurs at St Johns Norway Cemetary.
Yes, I tried zooming in on the sign using my DVD player, but it's no good. I couldn't make out the lettering. It was eating me up trying to figure out where this place was, so it was nice to find out! :)
It's kinda weird that they all have their names taped to the front of their desks and Griff's says "Griff"...shouldn't it say "Robin??" (His real first name) Why would the teacher allow his nickname to be written rather than his actual name? She herself refers to him as Robin. I just find that weird.
But if the point is to practice spelling your name in cursive...shouldn't he be practicing his REAL name? In my school TONS of kids had nicknames, but when it came to being adressed in school, they stuck to your REAL name. "Steve" was "Stephen" "Kim" was "Kimberly" and so on. What you said about her authority is exactly why I think it is weird...the names on the desk seem to be for HER benefit, so you'd think she would have told him to put the name SHE calls him. His REAL name.
that's normal, and when we were in grade eight we knew most of the teachers in the school by that time. Usually the teacher would just give us all the choice where we wanted to sit so she could do the seating chart it didn't have anything with practice spelling our names in cursive. It was just tag for who sat where and Mrs gonzalles was one of the teachers that students liked and that example could be a reason why, and I hardly would think any teacher would atribute this to the curriculum.
@Mysterycat74 He is in grade 8, I don't think he needs to practice writing his name in cursive at that age, I'm sure he won't write Griff on his job appication or tests, It's what he wants people to call him and the teacher doesn't mind. for tests he would have to write Robin Griffen, not Griff Griffen? It's only the name on his desk, hardley a big deal.
Ok, but it is weird to ME because growing up (in the 80's..like these kids) it didn't matter what you were called. The teacher ALWAYS used your REAL name when it came to matters of the classroom. Especially writing your name on the desk. We had a kid Mike who was always called "Stick" (he was skinny) but the teacher would never let him write "Stick" on his desk or sign any school papers that way. He was "Michael" in the classroom. That's just how my school was so thats why it is weird to me.
That Yankou kid looks like Jeff Goldblum's mini-me
