Well...that's not the garden variety Yaris we get here in the US...but rather the 1.8 version with a fair bit more power and a 6 speed tranny, along with 4 wheel disc brakes. Still though...seems very unlikely...though it is a Toyota commercial. So they can show whatever they want to.

@firstmusic00 sad thing is #1 the 1.8 yaris is 5 speed not 6, #2 the 1.8 is the same as the Dx, has dual vvti designed for economy thus holding the car back, 1.5 0-60 in 8secs 1.8 0-60 in 10 secs.

on the car: I drive a '05 Yaris 1.3VVTI for work and with 90hp for 900kg's... it's pretty fast! A lot of premium cars (Mini's, BMW 1's, Merc ML's, etc.) have had a beating... especially the diesels, try doing 100kph in second gear with that!

No the yaris was not at all made to reach high speeds and its not a sports car of any kind. Toyotas goal with the yaris was to make a cheep affordable car thats all nothing more than simple transportation. the yaris does the quarter mile in 17 seconds thats dog slow. thats not fast dude. I'm sorry. I have a 1996 Pontiac Bonneville SSEI that came stock with a supercharged 3.8L V6. I have a best quarter mile time of 14.7@ 101 mph. and even that is not that fast. most mid sized V6 sedans today can do low to high 14's in the quarter.
