its the drummers fault this song is failed he was like speeding up and slowing down random as fuck everyone else was doing alright except the autrocious sound of the acoustic what is that a first act from wal-mart shit
@brandonofof The band wasn't that great, but having a good classical guitarist that can read sheet music is pretty much a win. My point is, your argument is invalid.
For a high school band it sound alright. I give respect to you guys and don't listen to these people calling it a fail. I used to play bass clarinet in high school. The guitarist was great. BTW loved the sombrero and poncho.
I just read the summary posted by londonian08. Thank you SO much for the history of the evolution of this song and of the title! It is truly wonderful that Mason Williams provided you with the sheet music--he must have been honored that you selected this song for the final concert. Bravo!
This is a very ambitious and complex song for a high school band. It is arranged and orchestrated very well, very nice. I wish the sound on the guitar could have been a bit louder particularly at the beginning as it would be great to hear more subtleties from the sounds of this terrific guitarist. I hope the young musicians will cherish this song for the rest of their lives--I have loved it (and guitarist Mason Williams!) for the past 40 years, and will have it played at my funeral some day.
So far my favorite version is the one played by my guitar class (not to be cocky or anything). Its the entire song with no percussion, woodwind, brass or anything except acoustic guitars. But this was still really really good.
I'm guessing you play cello because 2ed chair cello was left empty pretty good playin.

Very interesting drum work, has almost a synthetic feel to the style. Very enjoyable rendition, the arrangement is a little better than Mike Posts.

Drummer is rushing like crazy. The violins and violas are out of tune.

it almost sounded like classical gas except for the fail and tad bit of suck.
