Your hypothetical makes no sense. As Mormonism purports to be a restoration of 1st Century Christianity, how could it have even hypothetically arisen before the ministries of John the Baptist and Jesus? There needs to be a Christianity first before Mormonism can claim to restore it.
Then, according to your definitions, there was no Christianity before Jesus. So, your hypothetical falls apart. You can maintain your views that Mormonism is an apostate, non-Christian faith, but don't attempt to illustrate that point through faulty hypotheticals.

You can't and won't understand the profoundly-simple-but-simply-profound gospel until you repent of your idolatry, pride and fleshly sins and place your faith/trust in Jesus alone.

They have a very narrow understanding and rather than expanding that they want evryone to dumb down to their level.
