The fact still is that Elton John didn't write the lyrics. Lee Hall wrote them. I've seen the play, seen Elton talk about the song-writing, heard Lee describe his trepidation about writing the lyrics, even have the play program in front of me. Lee Hall wrote the words, Elton wrote the music.
