  • I went to the Nassau Coliseum only one, back in December 2010 against the Trashers(I was with the Nordique Nation). It seems weird to see the Nassau full of fans . I hope the Islanders will be dominant once again

  • @goloume They will. Just give them one or two more seasons in the bottom of the rankings, and they’ll become so full of young prospects that they’ll become unstoppable.

  • remember the old new york islanders? look at them now...

  • Look at the old barn completely full! LOUD AS HELL too... no ads on the boards.

    Everything was better then...

this team does not get the respect it deserves.

  • The presenter makes a horrible mistake at the end. He says Nystrom scored 4 playoff OT goals in his career the first of which delivered the Islanders to their first stanley cup. That's absolutely not true: he scored four, one of which was scored in 78 vs. the MapleLeafs, plus another in 79 vs. the Rangers, plus another in the 80 Semis vs. Buffalo, and THEN this. This was the LAST of his 4 playoff OT goals. It's not relevant to the importance of the game but it's an awful error.

  • Nystrom was one of these strange players who underwent some sort of transformation from the regular season to the playoffs. He would usually score about 20 goals through the season, but as soon as playoffs began, he became offensive powerhouse and would score 20 more in more or less 20 games. I never understood what caused this phenomenon, but hey, this was only the best for the team.

  • @seukfuhi I have heard of this and would like to nominate Michael Ryder to that transformation group as well

  • If you watch this clip carefully, you'll notice the Flyers don't even touch the puck from 1:12 to when the goal is scored, a span of 26 seconds.

  • Bob thank you so much for signing my jersey tonight at the Draft Party. I'm a 15 year old kid who will remember it forever and hopeful that the Isles will stay on our proud island. VOTE YES AUGUST 1st! GO ISLANDERS!

  • Only six days after Mt. St. Helens erupted.

  • Bobby Nystrom is a LEGEND. If only the Hall of Fame gave him the recognition he deserves. Nystrom is the epitome of a CLUTCH player!

  • @NPRMc my fave player all time. its so rediculous that your entry into the hall of fame lives and dies on stats. the islander dynasty wouldn't have been the same without him.

  • 31 years ago today. Go get 'em Bobby.

  • Today Tonight Tonelli. What a move at the point, and what a set up. Tonelli lived half of his life in overtime and was usually the reason his team won..

  • I thank God every time I see this that even at 6 years old, I was smart enough to come inside the house from playing street hockey with my brothers to watch the overtime period. When Nystrom scored I was so incredibly happy but I didn't go crazy. I just sat there on the couch, all by myself and I told myself to never forget this moment. I still get chills hearing Tonelli to Nystrom, He SCORES!

  • my pick as best hockey team ever. they were the living definition of depth. goaltending, offence, defense, finesse, toughness drive. there wasn't anything another team could bring to the table that they couldn't do better. clark gillies qoute " we simply made other teams give up."

  • @znogypogy not as good as gretzky's oilers

  • @Slipknot5301 Gretzky's Oilers never:

1.) won it four years in a row

2.) won nineteen straight playoff series

3.) beat an Islander team at it's peak.

The Oilers were a shit defensive team that played in a weak conference. Their regular season was 80 game practice skate.

  • @ChrisDutch I agree, in the oilers first run at the cup they didn't show up in a single game; the islanders shut them down easily for a sweep. the following year the oilers time had come, yet the islanders an already seasoned and battered group competed hard till the last minute. wayne gretzky himself had major admiration and respect for the islanders and has said they could very well be the best team ever. i know it's still subjective, but the 80 85 islanders are still my pick as best ever

  • @ChrisDutch In addition, the 1985 Islanders were mostly injured and were still favored to win the Cup that year.

  • @suburbanindie They were missing Bourne (their best skater), Langevin for the first three games (Their best defensive defenseman), and Nystrom (Their best cornerman) for the first three games. taht made it easier to control the boards and corners and get their attack going. Bossy and Trottier were both skating on bad knees and Bossy and Potvin both had back problems.

  • I am diehard flyers fan.................till i die! I enjoyed this series and like the islanders along with al arbour a great goal and tuff ass team to beat and as much as i love richards and the current guys i still believe the islanders 4th cup team was best team since 1980!

  • 30 years today !! It was at my 11th birthday !! A great team !! A great memory !!

  • @stfwes My second birthday! I don't rememebr it, but i've watched this video a million times.
