  • Wow! Delia Derbyshire was slightly ahead of her time when she came up with that theme. A Prog, experimental, British, yet Kraut-Rock sounding tune! Thin Lizzy came & made it thier own!!

  • @borgduck Damn typo! Their!

  • Brilliant! Thanks so much for uploading - just rediscovered Thin Lizzy recently and this is such an added bonus - wouldve been cool if they'd been asked to redo the theme around 1980!

  • Dont have the recording in a non youtube file? I could clean the noise away!

  • @ade425mxy I do - that would be really awesome my friend. Inbox me your contact details and I'll get it to you asap! Thanks a bunch!

  • Great version from Phil and Eric - almost psychedelic, which is a big departure for them. Phil sounds a bit like Hendrix here. Amazing what you can find on YT....

  • @Weirdbald Thin Lizzy started out as a psychedelic progressive rock outfit that basically was a Jimi Hendrix clone. All three of the Eric Bell (original lineup) albums have a Jimi Hendrix influence in them that was phased out when first Gary Moore and the twin lead team of Scott Gorham and Brian Robertson joined in Thin Lizzy. After that they became more 1970's hard rock and then metal with John Sykes in the 1980's.

  • Radical!!

  • OMG! This is an awesome find! Thanks for sharing!

  • Brilliant. Thanks for that. Any idea what year that is?

  • Aye sorry I will put it in the title, its 1973 when they were touring Berlin so its from one of their shows they did :)

  • Cheers! Didnt know they'd ever covered the Dr Who theme... I've heard Pink Floyd's alright, but never even knew about this! Excellent! Thanks!

  • this first incarnation was soooo good.
